  1. A good start would be to post the Facebook link here so that those of us who want to contribute on an individual level are able to do so.
  2. I know too...it means that Zips fans know nothing about this upcoming team. Seriously...did anyone learn anything from the last 77 second Ianello video? 77 seconds of generalities is all I have to talk about regarding Zips football. I could have written Ianello's sonnet. "We had a really spirited practice...guys were flying to the ball...the practice facility is really nice, but we hope to get outdoors...hope to see you at the Tap House." WTF is THAT? Zips fans are unfortunately WAY more informed about the lying, weasel Jim Tressel. Thus they spend time discussing his situation more than the Zips spring. Is Moore a legit competition to Nicely? Beats the hell out of me...I haven't seen Moore, and I have no idea how he's doing. No one from UA has anything to say about him. Is B. Alexander fully recovered from his knee injury? Beats the hell out of me...I have no idea how he's doing. How's the transfer DL from Michigan State looking...I'm expecting him to dominate this fall...is he tossing our incumbent OL's around like rag dolls? Is he out of shape? Beats the hell out of me...I have no idea how he's doing. Zips Athletics has absolutely no clue what it's like to be a fan of the Program. The awesome information packet of 77 second Ianello videos and a Spring roster .pdf makes me want to replay old Zips soccer and basketball games on my DVR. It doesn't get pumped, or informed about football. Tressel's a weasel. I feel your pain and moreso your frustration. I am thoroughly amazed at the optimism that appears on this board regarding our football program. It points out to me again and again that there are truly diehard fans here who are searching for anything to cheer about when it comes to football. Now reality sets in. There is no substance to the program. We were lousy under Ianello last year and any optimism is based solely on hope, not any evidence of performance. Ianello sees and end product but has no clue as to how to get there. That is why he can't be specific because he doesn't know himself. But he's a great recruiter He might have more of a clue than you'd expect. Here's how that plays out... As a Zips fan, I am going to start circulating a rumor throughout the college ranks that I, trimmy10, am a great "recruiter" to the extent that I now have reputation that proceeds me. I will be in and among many traditional and/or successful programs, but cannot directly claim any of those accomplishments for myself. I will then apply for and be awarded the head coaching position at Can't where I will quietly but effectively run the program into the ground by speaking vaguely about potential while producing no results. While I may not look like I know what I'm doing, I actually do, and it involves making a historically deplorable program epically worse. After 3 years and no results, I am fired and happily move on with my $1,000,000+ in salary along with whatever severance package in hand knowing that I have single-handedly annihilated my arch rivals program for five years and made myself pseudo-rich doing it. By the time I leave, even the most loyal fans are doubting their continued support. Mission accomplished. And what is REALLY scary...if things play out the way I anticipate, the only thing missing between our situation and the hypothetical one is a link between Can't and iCoach. Another year of this and I think Can't should start paying his salary. At least then we'd be relieved of the financial burden.
  3. Megabus coming to Akron. This is great news for UA students and the downtown area in general because of cheap yet classy this service is. Much different from Greyhound. I will likely take it from Pittsburgh to Akron and back just for regular weekend trips home. I will likely save over $50 per trip.
  4. File this one under along with threads about: 1) new arena potential and location, 2) OOC football and basketball scheduling, 3) upgrading conferences, and 4) firing iCoach. Even I tire of the latter. What other exhausted topics am I forgetting?
  5. I think the revolving door will eventually catch-up to Can't State. They can't possibly continue to hire stellar coaches based on little experience. There is an iCoach out there for them yet. I too am grateful for the stability that KD brings via his loyalty.
  6. Duh. Who would have ever guessed that's the way to win basketball games and championships? You read this board as much as the next person. Reading this board, one would think playing defense is the only way to win. If you notice from my post, scoring points comes before defense and mistakes. A lot of points can cover up mistakes and a bad defense night. The best teams are capable of playing a combination of offense and defense that results in them consistently having more points at the end of games than the teams they play. If your shooting is off and you're not scoring, your defense better be capable of stopping the other team from scoring. If you're allowing the other team to score a lot of points, your offense better be capable of scoring even more points. As a life-long Miami Dolphins fan, just ask Dan Marino how many championships that allowed him to accumulate throughout his career.
  7. That logo is badass! Someone (who knows how) please post it in this thread.
  8. Tonight Kentucky....... +1. And Richmond and VCU.
  9. It really is disappointing that in spite of all the things going wrong for the Buckeyes that we won't be able to take advantage of this in the fall. I would have given one of Lee Owen's or JD's team half a chance to produce an upset or at least the 4th quarter threat of one. Too bad because it could have be a huge spring board for taking our program to the next level. As our program is now, the game will still likely be a scrimmage for OSU, and the next level for us is being competitive in the MAC again. Prove me wrong, iCoach.
  10. You must get all your information from Fox Noise because you are obviously Fair and Balanced. You must get all yours from MSNBC, because you obviously are a liberal that thinks Mr. Vacation while there are 3 wars, high unemployment, horrible economy and earthquakes and tsunamis are ablaze, is ok. One Big Ass Mistake America You can't tell me that earthquakes and tsunamis have anything to do with politics. Obama has nothing to do with those things. And your political perspective is a joke if you are quick to slap a label (be it conservative or liberal) on anyone. Welcome to the world created by Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, etc. No they don't have anything to do with politics. However, when there is a threat of radio active material coming towards our west coast and some people are nervous, and when we are in a new war, along with the economy the way it is, you would hope our leader would show some leadership and not be taking vacation after vacation. You talk about liberal and cons, yet you only bring up the right hosts. You don't mention the Maddows, or Mahers or any of the MSM lefties. That is pretty telling. For the record, I hated Bush and I hate Obama. The difference is that many that hated Bush like Obama even though Obama is doing a lot of the same things Bush did. Fair point about Maher et al. I don't listen to them either though. And for the record, I think Obama's fiscal policy is terrible. And I don't like his continued support of No Child Left Behind or the Patriot Act either. And Bush and Obama are both sellouts to the major corporations. Between the Bush handouts to the wealthy and Obama's redistribution, the middle class has no chance to survive. Thanks for being big enough to admit they both suck. I can probably count on 1 hand the number of politicians that I don't think suck. Actually you can delete the "probably" You are very LIBERAL with your politician hating.

  13. Exactly, because 40% are D's, 40% are R's, and the rest of us are actually free thinking.
  14. You must get all your information from Fox Noise because you are obviously Fair and Balanced.
  15. I think we need to win at least 4, but looking at the schedule, I don't know how that's possible. We know all too well that the I-AA game isn't even guaranteed anymore. If only the MAC in football were analogous to the MAC West in basketball... I'm scared for this fall. With no NFL, the eyes on college football will be that much more acute and we have the potential to be that much more embarrassed. I'm not a current supporter either, but I would love for iCoach to prove me wrong. Go Zips! Great to hear JD has no bitterness towards UA. I always did like his personality.
  16. Woulda, shoulda, coulda...shoulda beat ND and it looks like we coulda handled FSU. The Sweet 16 was possible this year. We're getting closer.
  17. Or, seed 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 13 and 4 vs 12. From what I see, there isn't much difference between the teams that get seeded anywhere between 5 and 11. Go back to 64 teams. The selection committee should at that point take the next 40 teams they feel deserve to be in the tournament and pick the names with a lottery. Seven teams won't make it, but that could be part of the suspense. The Tournament Lotter Show would be much better than what they have on now. More suspense would be better and the selection of the teams would be in a more fair manner than what takes place now. I love this. And if doing a lottery, there would be true incentive for teams to win their conference...particularly for the BCS programs where there are a lot of at-large bids.
  18. Use the conference tournaments to do this or eliminate the conference tournaments. Do one or the other, but don't do both. I like the idea of making the conference tournaments mean something for more than just the mid-major conference schools. What if the Duke vs. UNC game last Sunday actually was meaningful? So make the tournament 96 teams. The 31 conference champions get a bye along with the top at-large team. This makes the big conference tournaments very meaningful. It also introduces a play-in round made up of the at-large teams that would eliminate the "bubble" teams before the real tournament began. So teams that didn't belong this year like UAB would get knocked out and teams that were supposedly snubbed have a chance to prove they belong. You end up with a field of 64 that's stronger than what you have today. Regardless of how many teams there are in the Tournament, there will always be bubble teams. The only way to eliminate the bubble team concept is to include conference tournament champions only thereby eliminating the selection process.
  19. If the RPI doesn't count them, they don't hurt our resume at all. What does quantifiably hurt us are the 300+ RPI teams we play, the only problem is that most of the worst teams that hurt our SOS are in the MAC West and we don't have a choice. Also, remember that we originally were to open at Michigan State, but they backed out late and left us scrambling and the only team who was willing to fill the spot was Milliken. Replace Milliken with MSU and our schedule looks pretty decent with games against the Spartans, Temple, Dayton, Miami, CSU, and Minnesota all on the road. I also think what hurt us was not picking up a single marquee win against the good teams that we actually did play. Maybe we should worry about beating at least one of them before we try and load up on even stronger teams. I was unaware of that situation. If that is the circumstance, it is excusable. However, I don't want to see any games like it in the future. It's embarrassing. Even without marquee wins, this season would have been epic minus the losses to EMU and NIU. I think we had great opportunities to beat Miami and Buffalo the first times around too.
  20. I would argue that we don't have a DI football program now either. Besides, I think KD can get us close to where Gonzaga and Butler are without the extravagant expenditures.
  21. Bingo! YSU is the only nobody team we should schedule on a regular basis if for nothing else than to have a conveniently close away game and because there are abundant YSU alumni in the area who may not otherwise attend a Zips game. I want to see Dayton, Xavier, VCU, and Cleveland State (so long as Waters is coach) annually. Sprinkle in Southern Illinois, Creighton, Butler, a few C-USA teams, and low-level Big 10 and Big East teams, and I'm happy. No more Millikens! D-I only unless for scrimmages or preseason! Regardless of whether we win big or not, nothing says we are a small-time program like playing D-II and D-III programs and counting them towards our W-L/20-win count. The RPI doesn't count them, so I don't.
  22. I heard Lebron gave UA a ton of cash and the Nike Center will be finished before the first game in the fall. It will be located across the street from Canal Park. The first game will be an exhibition between the Zips and Lebron versus the Cavs in the ultimate Akron vs. Cleveland game. College rules and officials will be used. Opening line O/U at 160 with the Zips and Lebron favored by 15. UA and Akron to host first round NCAA Tournament games in 2016 and 2018 along with the woman's Tournament in 2017.
  23. Buffalo squeaks by Western Michigan 49-48 to advance to the quarter finals. Of note, the attendance at WMU was 1235. Hmmmmm, they love big time basketball in Kalamazoo. Less of a reflection on the Kalamazoo fans, more a reflection on exactly how much of a joke these CBI and CIT tournaments really are. I don't blame them for not getting excited about playing a conference opponent in a post-season tournament. I wouldn't be that interested. It would feel like just another game even though the post-season is supposed to be anything but that.
  24. Please! We didn't run them over, we were competitive.
