You get 5yrs to play 4. He played 13 min his first year. He would have qualified. The redshirt rule is never a line in the sand like it used to be. I bet with the nose, concussions, and mental health he would have got it. @Zippy87 Totally agree that will always be the top "What if" team. They had it all.

Enrique was a true 5 yr player. Ali probably could've received a medical red shirt during his year at Butler. At least I think that's right. IMO aside from the 20 team the one that leaves me with lots of "What if's" is the 22/23 team. Add Ali back to that mix as a 3rd option with X at point and you've got the makings of a top 25 team.

Sam Amico was on 92.3 today. Mentioned how well Freeman has been shooting in his workouts. Stock is way up and could see him going in the late first.

How nice would Steve McNess look on this team. Going with Thornton and/or expecting Tavari to take a big step was a big miscalculation.

Hard to adjust when you don't have the personnel to fix things. Teams triple Freeman and play off of Ali and Tribble. The rest of the team fires up bricks and takes dumb, early shots. The underclassmen don't talk on D and run through the motions during their offensive sets. I need way less Dawson and more Prather. He's at least active on offense.

I agree with this. Akron lost to St Bonny on a neutral court and they are a mid pack A10 team. Martin is an excellent coach and will be a great add to the conference. The MAC can't stop now. They need to be aggressive and grow the footprint of the conference.

I've mentioned this before and it's been discussed that the staff is trying to find value players with more than 1 year of eligibility. The JUCO kids are getting squeezed at the P5 level. There's talent to be found at that level. Bill Snyder created a program at K State with JUCO kids.

Great to see the guards step up in a major way. Thornton, Tribble, and Scott did a great job defensively in the second half. Thought Thornton did a little bit of everything and does a great job getting the team to play at proper pace in the half court. Scott had his best game as a Zip. Hope to see his confidence grow from this. Agree with the comments that Tribble was a difference maker on both ends. He kept the Zips close when needed. Freeman is so fun to watch. How many W will this team run off? Excited to see as they should look dominant a lot in league play.

Who knows how this class shakes out but they definitely got bigger in a lot of positions.

Starting to see a trend from last year to this year. Most of the contributions from the portal on d line and front 7 came from high performing FCS or Juco kids. Looks like he's keeping that approach and applying it to the o line. It's an interesting approach as going the p5 route has been more miss than hit. If you're good at the G5 level chances are a P5 is grabbing you. Still need 2 QBs at a min to come in and compete in spring ball.

Does Akron have a guard that can create a shot for himself? If not this team will be a repeat of last year's.
