  1. How is that possible when he dunked on a guy a few games ago? Unless contested dunks is a separate category?
  2. 3891 Can I trade in the Wilson bobblehad for a Luie in a suit bobblehad? If it's a Wilson playing pick-up ball I reserve my right to change
  3. I've mentioned this before and it's been discussed that the staff is trying to find value players with more than 1 year of eligibility. The JUCO kids are getting squeezed at the P5 level. There's talent to be found at that level. Bill Snyder created a program at K State with JUCO kids.
  4. Great to see the guards step up in a major way. Thornton, Tribble, and Scott did a great job defensively in the second half. Thought Thornton did a little bit of everything and does a great job getting the team to play at proper pace in the half court. Scott had his best game as a Zip. Hope to see his confidence grow from this. Agree with the comments that Tribble was a difference maker on both ends. He kept the Zips close when needed. Freeman is so fun to watch. How many W will this team run off? Excited to see as they should look dominant a lot in league play.
  5. Who knows how this class shakes out but they definitely got bigger in a lot of positions.
  6. Starting to see a trend from last year to this year. Most of the contributions from the portal on d line and front 7 came from high performing FCS or Juco kids. Looks like he's keeping that approach and applying it to the o line. It's an interesting approach as going the p5 route has been more miss than hit. If you're good at the G5 level chances are a P5 is grabbing you. Still need 2 QBs at a min to come in and compete in spring ball.
  7. Does Akron have a guard that can create a shot for himself? If not this team will be a repeat of last year's.

  9. Akron's punter might be the worst I've ever seen and that's saying a lot.
  10. Really feel happy for the team. I've played on some really good teams and some really bad teams. When you're a part of a bad team getting a W like this validates all of the work you've been putting in. It reminds you why you are up at the crack of dawn and getting in your lift, reviewing film, taking extra reps, sacrificing your social/family life, craming in your studies during odd hours of the day. And don't forget rest and recovery. This victory will have a carryover effect for the program. Maybe not this year (Tough to see another win on the schedule) but hopefully in the off-season. Regarding the game: I love it when I read that people hate the play calling when we lose and love it when we win. I did see some minor adjustments (12 personnel already mentioned) but it was mostly the players making plays finally. Once Kent's WR went out the game flipped. Kent Sucks and will always Suck Go Zips!
  11. Totally agree! Ok Taj= Carlton Jackson?
  12. If Wassel or Taj are showing anything in practice it's time to move on from Irons. If they aren't showing anything I'm worried about the future of this program. You're only as good as your QB, especially in the MAC. Akron hasn't had a good one since Getsy. Coach needs to figure this out immediately. Very happy with the strides the D made this year. DL is passable. You have an above average back half. The sky isn't falling but I am starting to get anxious.

  14. Funny you should mention that as an outsider. I often think to myself how much of a beast he'd be as a SS. This team a year ago was elite defensively. Once they lost the length of Ali and Dawson they were simply just good. They need a transfer who can create on his own. Tavari and N Johnson should take a big step next year. Especially encouraged by Nate. Clarke reminds me of Carmelo Benacourt. You can't continue to play him and Tribble at the same time.
  15. Man that was an ugly win but I'll take it. This team has struggled to shoot from outside the arch with regularity for 2 + yrs now. Most teams aggressively double Freeman the second he touches the ball and dare the rest of the team to beat them. That leads me to this question. Can Kobe be the guy to keep defense's honest? If so what does that do for min for either Tibble or Hankerson? How much net gain does that provide as they lose quite a bit defensively. Just some thoughts as the season progresses. They need a third option or they'll have issues beating the upper teams in the MAC
  16. Agreed. Lawson is a guy that projected to be a good speed rusher but never put on much weight. Maybe by his Sr year he could be that guy. I'm guessing he was just too slow to play OLB.
  17. Either him or Nate Robinson https://247sports.com/Player/Nate-Robinson-26353/high-school-42787/
  18. 💯💯💯 This is what really separates a coach like JoMo vs Arth. Coach has tons of connections at the FBS level and has recruited many of these P5 portal players either as an OC or HC. Arth on the other hand had limited connections and was coming from a place where he recruited at the DIII or FCS level. The portal game is sooooo important in today's game. No connections lead to blind or limited evaluations /Offers. Yet another reason I'm confident in this staff.
  19. This team needs Tavari to be a special freshman if they are going to be in the hunt for the MACC. Him and X are the only guys on the court that can get their shot off from the bounce. Plus he gives X some time to rest off ball. Defensively this team really misses Ali and Dawson's length. The effort is there though. The MAC is pretty weak (Even for MAC standards) so I expect them to get better as the season goes on and be in the mix. Was sad to the the crowd. Covid scared all the blue hairs away and it looks like they never came back.
  20. Looks like he's originally from Germany. Had an offer from Hawaii and a few other FCS schools
  21. I've been wanting to start this thread for a while but wanted to wait until the season ended. My question is simple does Jomo have his QB1 for 23? Irons certainly passes the eye test. Great arm strength and is very fast. The cons with him is he doesn't see the field well, especially in the red zone and is slow with his reads. This is a major flaw in this type of system. Can he be coached up? I think it was CK that called Undercuffler as a fine backup and I agree. If anything his time as QB1 showed how good Jomo's system is and how talented our WR corps are. Is Steele ready to play right away? It seems like a stretch but elite QBs make the transition all the time now a days. What about the other young QBs on the roster? Does coach bring in a transfer or two? Curious to hear the boards thoughts on you'd like to see and what you expect coach to do.
