Boom! Love it. Could this be part of a larger event in Philly, or an easy coast swing where we whoop some SEC butt on the way out or home? EDIT: Looks like this could be it. 2022 The Barstool Classic at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA Dates, teams and matchups are still TBD. Good luck finding additional information. There's a Reddit thread about the tournament that contains zero useful information, and the rest of a Google search is the Barstool Classic Golf tournament. I'd imagine, however, that the field will be pretty decent. Already off to a good start with the inclusion of Akron. 😉

8 of these are Disney, which covers ACC and SEC. Fox covers Big Ten, Big 12, and PAC 12 I believe. NBC has Notre Dame (for now). CBS has some SEC. None of this includes streaming brands either. Apple, Netflix, Amazon, etc. The amount of money coming into sorts is unreal.

2022 Zips in The Pros

WE ARE AKRON! WE ARE AKRON! WE ARE SOCCER KINGS! -
SEC is reportedly done adding teams. They will be at 16 when the dust settles and are supposedly content with that. Notre Dame is the biggest name left to move. Phil Knight is reportedly making cold calls to everyone he can to find a new home for Oregon. PAC 12 is in a names war with the Big 12, using UCF, Cincy, etc. against them to diminish their Power 5 credibility. And we have Joe Mo. I love it.

UNC is not leaving Duke behind, and vice versa. Clemson would be stupid to leave the ACC, and UVA is the prototypical ACC school. Notre Dame is going to join the Big Ten - that is their only option to maintain a semblance of their media rights revenue stream. There wouldn't be a single incentive for NBC to pay massive money for exclusive Notre Dame rights if Notre Dame can't schedule any Big Ten or SEC schools because Big Ten and SEC schools won't have an incentive to play any tough schools outside of their respective conference. The ACC is in an interesting spot. Their niche is being the Academic Power Conference, with private schools and academic standards galore. They also have a nice deal with Disney/ESPN that gives them a financial foundation, their basketball is top class, their football has a National Champion contender every couple of years, and they offer a higher-end level of off-brand sports like soccer and lacrosse. The PAC12 & Big12 don't have this niche. Combining into one conference and becoming the 4th Power Conference might be their only way to survive as a Power Conference.

When you think you're joining one of the Super Conferences forming, but your name isn't USC, UCLA, or Notre Dame... (Viewer's Discretion is Advised)

Fall 2022 Mens soccer schedule

The Big East would be another solid conference to join. Either way, we need to find a way into either conference. -
I can't tell if this is sarcasm directed at me... 😂

Class of '23 Offers & Verbal Commits

First year in DI. Nice get for JMU. -
This viewpoint really showcases just how big this stadium is. I hope to see it packed here soon.
-
Correct, I didn't word it well enough. Fact is, the Big Ten just captured the LA market, on top of what they already had with a huge alumni base.
-
Not a bust whatsoever.

OH MY GOODNESS! THEIR 12 FANS HAVE TO BE SO EXCITED!

Free-for-all in non revenue sports are going to look more like this conference wise. Really hope we can jump into this conference for soccer. -

Darold is apparently announcing on Monday. He has a nice offer list from earlier in his recruiting. Roosevelt Andrews is local - Barbertucky. Nice offer list. -
I don't think individual school revenue is the driving force, but rather the media market as a whole. The Big Ten probably has a lot of alumni/fans who have migrated to the LA/West Coast area. Their media deals can now include those markets, therefore more $$$, hence why the Big Ten added Maryland and Rutgers.

You weren't the only smartass in this thread, as a plethora of people took my "Akron to another conference" as Akron moving into a P5 conference. The intent behind that comment was specifically aimed at the American Athletic Conference, as they are the only non-P5 conference with a better media deal than the MAC. The MAC is an absolute joke. It lives in the shadows of the Big Ten, hoping that scraps of Big Ten college athletics fall to the wayside for the MAC to grab. The P5 is consolidating. East coasters don't give a damn about the PAC12, and I'm not sure how many west coasters give a damn about any conferences east of the Mississippi. The two biggest media deals belong to the Big Ten and SEC, which are both east of the Mississippi (for the most part). How do west-of-the-Mississippi schools get a piece of the pie with those media deals? Join them. Now you're capturing the majority of the biggest markets in 1-2 conferences, instead of spreading them out across 5. Non-revenue-generating sports may become a free for all, like we've seen with soccer. G5 schools do not consistently have the same non-revenue sports (hockey, lacrosse, etc. for examples of variance), and add ridiculous travel hurdles in there to cement them being an after thought. BG and Miami's best sport (hockey) don't compete in the MAC, for example. The MAC can't even hold a men's soccer conference consistently, which has produced a National Champion an top 4 team consistently in the last 15 years. The conjoining of conferences is a revenue-only decision, so non-revenue sports will adapt and change. The MAC, by not accepting MTSU and WKU, proved it is not willing to do what it needs to, to survive. The G5 must follow in the P5 footsteps by consolidating its revenue generating sports. The American and Mountain West are the two conferences that will likely survive in those categories. The stepping stones will become American/MW to PAC12/Big12/ACC, and then the PAC12/Big12/ACC to the Big Ten/SEC. Figure out the non-revenue sports later, but we have to find a way into the American.

As a member of the MAC with no present or imminent invitation, and a new AD, he has to say that.

American.

USC and UCLA set to join Big Ten in a couple of years. There will be spots open to move up in conferences, and I think we're setting ourselves up nicely to get an invite.

Matt Kaulig (Racing) Former Zips QB
Let'sGoZips94 replied to Section210Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Not to dive into this, but the Indians/Guardians are one of the winningest franchises since 2013. I'm hoping Blitzer's group takes controlling interest and takes the franchise to the next level with consistent ALCS/WS appearances, but money doesn't exactly guarantee that in baseball. I'm excited for InfoCision Stadium to be renamed Kaulig Companies Stadium or LeafFilter Stadium. -
That's gorgeous.

Matt Kaulig, Leaf filter/Kaulig Companies, joins David Blitzer's group to become minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians. -
What a home field advantage that would be. WR takes it to the house on us for a 65 yard TD, drops the ball in celebration at the Akron name, and we return it for a fumble TD.
