  1. The MAC is looking like an absolute powerhouse this year. 1. Ohio 2. Toledo 3. Akron 4. Everyone else. 5. Central Michigan. Edit: This is 100% sarcasm, @NWAkron. The MAC sucks aside from potentially OU, Toledo, and Akron.
  2. My life is already better. I feel like a brand new man.
  3. Per Google... The 2-4-5 is ultimately a defense of specialization as the main pass-rushers are going to be the two stand-up edge rushers. The defense deploys them on the edge because that's the easiest way to utilize a pure pass-rusher and they aren't asked to do a great deal other than control the edge and provide pressure. I like the sound of that.
  4. 6'5" 310 lbs. B.I.G. https://voiceofmotown.com/the-curious-case-of-kerry-martin/
  5. That's the Georgia Bulldogs' QB room. Here is the Rambling Wreck's...
  6. Good for him. Closer to home.
  7. Per his UCF bio... Prior to his single season in Colorado Springs, Toth spent five years at Fresno State, the first four as defensive coordinator while also coaching inside linebackers. His defense earned 17 All-Mountain West selections and one 2012 unanimous All-American in safety Phillip Thomas. Thomas was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, won the CFPA Defensive Back Trophy and was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year after leading the nation with eight interceptions. After having only nine turnovers gained in 2011, the year before Toth’s hiring, Fresno State came back in 2012 and recorded the greatest turnover turnaround in the Football Bowl Subdivision since the turn of the century. Finishing with 35 takeaways in 2012 (ranking fifth in the FBS), the Bulldogs’ differential in turnovers gained in one season under Toth was plus-26. His 2013 defense ranked sixth in the FBS with more than three sacks per game and 40 for the season and also ranked fourth with 8.2 tackles for loss per game. Over the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Fresno State and Stanford were the only schools in the country that ranked in the top 10 in sacks both years. WOW. Toth joined Oregon's staff to reunite with their DC, Tim DeRuyter. Could be this be what the defense looks like? DeRuyter’s 2-4-5 defense emphasizes using defensive ends and outside linebackers in more of a hybrid role.
  8. Not wanting WKU and MTSU was a laughable notion. Someone else said it prior, but both programs would be in the top 3-5 athletic programs if they joined today.
  9. So what you're saying is Akron is in a similar class as Radford, thus further establishing a game against Radford is much more than a scrimmage/practice. 😉
  10. Losing by 20 and 12 to Fordham and App State respectively? Marshall is our only respectable win. We don't have a right to look down upon any DI opponent (except PCCC). There isn't a positive spin to put on this in my opinion. I'm tired of COVID, and I'd love to play another DI opponent before going into MAC play, especially with our next game being BUGS on the 29th. That will be 2 weeks since we've played a game.
  11. I'm looking at Radford's schedule and wondering what justifies the view of them essentially being a scrimmimmage (to quote Benchwarmers) like Point Park. Their schedule blows ours out of the water. Sure their record isn't great (2-7 against DI teams), but we're 5-3 against DI teams with double-digit losses to App State and Fordham. They have respectable losses to WVU and James Madison, while also playing against UVA and VaTech. I would have loved for this game to take place.
  12. 6'2" RB. Wow. Had offers from Minnesota, BYU, Duke, etc., out of high school. He's going to look like Derrick Henry in the MAC; let's hope he plays like him. Impressive quote from Fleck.
  13. Wow... It's a reunion in Akron, but everyone went off and got excellent P5 experience before coming back.
  14. COVID is the biggest factor. When you 4 entire classes getting a free year eligibility wise, that's a lot of players not leaving the DI ranks automatically at the end of the year for each class. An underlying factor might be the amount of coaching changes this year. With the transfer portal wide open, I'd imagine Moorhead isn't the only one being patient during the early signing period to do a proper roster and transfer portal talent evaluation. It will be interesting to see if the second signing period sees these numbers even out.
  15. Walton needs removed, no?
  16. All of his staff so far are P5 guys... Maybe he wants to get P5 fans/atmosphere?
  17. I knew that... 👀😳😅
  18. Appreciation post for the JAR. Thank goodness we don't watch our basketball games at the Nutter Center. That is not a flattering arena name. 😂
  19. Kalle got in there at the end. I thought he was a redshirt.
  20. These announcers are fawning all over Akron. It's hilarious 😂
  21. This is quite the performance. 1) This team appears to be gelling nicely. 2) The schedule is becoming more consistent/regular. I wonder if that is helping us find our flow/rhythm.
  22. Go take your timeout. Turnover and 3 by Wright State immediately following this post.
  23. Wynn sighting. Great dribble drive by Clarke.
  24. Whoops. Double post on the phone. Go Zips!
