Moorhead’s Akron Coaching Staff 2022
Let'sGoZips94 replied to akrzips2012's topic in Akron Zips Football
I literally posted this 9 minutes ago in the New HC Search thread after seeing @clarkwgriswold post Moorhead's staff at MSU. Had not seen this post yet. "Not sure where Terry Richardson is, as he's no longer listed on MSU's website and he doesn't have a Wikipedia. However, I wonder if he'd be a candidate for OC. He produced Donald Brown at UCONN, Lamar Miller & Duke Johnson at Miami, and coached Maurice Jones Drew during his stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played for the Bengals & Steelers in the NFL, so he is not a stranger to Ohio/NEO area. Interesting fact: he's the second to last player in Syracuse football history to wear the number 44. He would be an interesting OC candidate, at the very least." Very excited to hear that Terry Richardson is a target to join his staff at Akron in any capacity. Wow! I like Fessler as the QB coach, too. Clipboard holder for Penn State under Moorhead, followed him to MSU, and he had one heck of a QB room at OSUcks. This is exciting stuff. I'm almost as excited for the staff to be built as I was for Moorhead to be hired, largely because Moorhead is widely considered one of the brightest offensive minds in the country. Whomever he brings in will be successful at their respective position, I have no doubts. -
1) I'm still in the camp of burning one of the freshman guard's redshirts. 2) If we're keeping tallies as far as reasons why one is not go to the JAR, the schedule is absurd (do better, Groce), and gives me zero reason to set aside my hatred and disdain for the mask mandate. 3) Let me emphasize number 2: THE SCHEDULE IS ABSURD!

Is this Bill Callahan's son - currently with the Bengals? Or any relation to Bill Callahan? -
Accurate, and the program has only itself to blame. This schedule blows and following up your near OSUcks upset with 2 clunkers in Florida killed any momentum.

Moorhead’s Akron Coaching Staff 2022

He was the Passing Game Coordinator as well during LSU's "magical" 2019 season with Joe Burrow. I believe he was thought as a key component to their success, and Matt Rhule was hoping to strike gold with him in the NFL. -

No idea what the relation is between Joe Brady & Joe Moorhead, but this is a Penn State guy who thinks Brady could be Moorhead's OC at Akron. Edit: Looks like Joe Brady was a Graduate Assistant under Moorhead for a year at Penn State. Not sure how close that relationship is, or if the odds of this happening are any better .01%. -
Beautiful. Knew it. Refs were moronic for what they let go in the 1st half. Southern coach couldn't believe they weren't getting calls, yet played football on half the plays.
-
Ewers is the second highest rated QB recruit ever - second only to Vince Young. Let's apply some common sense and save the energy for realistic gets. I do believe a number of 4 star guys will come to Akron, either the transfer route or true recruits. Moorhead instantly raises credibility for the program. Saquon Barkley, Trace McSorley, Mike Gesicki all played for him at PSU, and THRIVED. That is a selling point to recruits. It wasn't too long ago that the MAC had the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and a few years later had a WR drafted in the top 10. Moorhead will be able to sell himself and Akron to that caliber of player, and/or develop that caliber. If I remember correctly, he even had NFL talent at UCONN, which has been dormant in football since his departure. This hire received heavy coverage from the National Media. People will be paying attention to Akron football, so these kids will have quite the spotlight to be seen to and get to the next level.

I missed the second half. What happened? Should I play the lottery tonight?

This. These. All of them. Why get away from what makes us unique, only to go to one of the most generic and common types of logos?
-
Nice finish to the half. Withstood their physicality and seemingly found some sort of rhythm.

Joe Moorhead Officially Hired as Head Football Coach

For anyone who watched the debacle that was the PAC 12 Title Game last night, here is a tweet to show what Moorhead was up against when it came to controlling his own offense. I was on multiple Oregon message boards last night and today, and found this sentiment echoed. -
There is going to be at least one technical foul called in this game. These refs are letting everything go.
-
Burn a redshirt. Please. Have a shooting contest over the couple days of practice. Whomever makes more, let them play.
-
Football largely determines a college's success now; it is the premier moneymaker. The University should take big strides all around during Moorhead's tenure and beyond.
-
He can put script Akron on the academic planners & supplies. Let the Athletic Director be in charge of what is marketed by athletics.

A lot. Still waiting for the Info to be renamed Leaf Filter Stadium.

Welcome, @Boondog! Aside from the lack of player discipline, what type of player did he recruit? Did he have the athletes/size to compete in the SEC? Or did he have more of the slender-frame guys like he had at Oregon? -
Furthermore, thank you AD Guthrie for believing in Akron, that Akron can be better.
