X and Carry is going to be fun next year. His effort level on the defensive end of the floor added probably 16-20 phantom points to his point total. Man was he fun to watch. @LZIp We go from 2.5 true guards on this team to 5-6 next year. I think the backup point guard position is already taken care of with the influx of talent and Clarke's development.

Playing at Ohio State instead of the JAR keeps me up at night more than Houston.

All of a sudden there's a log jam at guard. I think one of the redshirt guards and/or Kalle could be candidates for transferring out. If that WVU center was on campus, Groce isn't done constructing this roster. I expect 1 or 2 new TP players on this roster next year.

His 23(?) in the Title game was the quietest 23 pts I've ever seen from a big. I actually have zero issue with the song. If Akron had a F Kent song, it would probably be my most listened to song if I could get my hands on it. I love the hate. The issues with the song extend to 1) the video getting out and 2) all the antics/showboating on the court. If Can't players played that song in the locker room then went out and simply took care of business without Carry prancing down the floor, without stirring it up with Akron students, without Singletary playing with a week old OVI, etc., this would've been a much smaller issue. I don't believe the players were suspended for the video as much as they were the video being the final straw before someone had to take action regarding Senderoff's program. The Jacobs comments were respectable, but how about taking a kid like that and NOT promoting all the other antics around the team? Doesn't sound like the environment did Jacobs any favors, and that's on Pinky. Their fan board echoed similar sentiments, that the off-the-court crap is old, especially with the mediocre on-the-court results.

I didn't think it was a slam on Groce. The regular season is largely meaningless and truly is practice for the postseason.

SDSU shoots the ball at a 44.9% clip. That's almost 10 full percentage points higher than the NCAA Tournament field average. Even if they have an off day, they'll fall around the norm of the field, which is interesting. Do they have enough fire power elsewhere to makeup for that? We'll see. I pulled all the stats of every team in the field into a spreadsheet, and compiled the field averages. I then applied points to teams - 1 pt per stat that is better than the average (turnovers would be below the average to receive a point). The average weight is 4.5. Akron has a weight point of 3, while UCLA has 6, for comparison. UCLA only shoots the 3 at a pedestrian 35.1% clip, and they're below the field average for FG% by a full point at 45% (Akron is a little of over 46% which is above the field average). It's interesting that they're supposedly incredibly efficient, but are very average shooters.

The line is huge. Even the casual fan should heavily consider taking Akron at -14 or more. This.

Sounds like Jay has really studied Akron and watched a lot of games. I'd imagine he's a Script Akron fan and uses that as his cell phone background. Big Zips guy, Jay is. How do you do a Zips write up and not mention Freeman? Go big Coach K on his way out, Jay.

Ken Carman just mentioned he is going to do a segment on Akron/KSUcks this morning on 92.3, in case anyone else wants to hear more media burial of our rival.

Anyone else think Pinky's conversation with the MAC went something like this... MAC: "This is a black-eye on the MAC, like your program has been for a while. We want discipline for the coaches and players." Pinky: "How about this. I'll give you suspensions for 3 nobodies, and if we lose we won't accept a post-season tourney invite." MAC: "Give us Jacobs for a half, too." Pinky: "Fine... Deal." Can't think of any other reason why KSUcks isn't in a post-season tourney.
