  1. don't put in on your card yet. We still possibly have to beat them. They kept Can't outta the NCAA tourney, I think they deserve some love.
  2. I'm not exactly sure people are claiming him to be a great coach, I just think people want him to succeed because he's classy. I've ripped on him hard this year for his coaching and I still don't like his coaching, but I will always love how classy his program is.
  3. I saw it in theaters with my family. GREAT MOVIE! Very inspirational.
  4. I like your positive thinking but do no not buy into that " beating a team 3 times is tough theory" That is one of those unfounded myths that somehow remains in the world of sports. I think that some coaches say that to keep their teams focused but it's just not true. Take a look at the last two years in the K e n t / Akron series.Love the optimistic thinking, but I agree with Hip Zip. If a team is CLEARLY better than you, then that theory goes out the door. But if a team is close to your level, then yes, it is hard to beat a team 3 times in a row.
  5. OH MY GOSH YES! What a player. He could go to a BCS school and make a difference IMO. The best part is he's only a Jr.
  6. I went early to my high school's sectional game against Kenmore tonight. We watched the entire St. V vs. Northwest game. I was wondering who the recruit is that we are recruiting because if it's Jakarr Sampson, we're set. That guy can flat out play. He's 6'8 with long arms, but an athletic body. He's only a Jr., but he's making a difference all by himself on a team that's full of difference makers. He drove baseline and dunked with 2 hands over 3 defenders! He's AWESOME! If anyone can confirm if we're recruiting him, please reply.
  7. That's what I'm hoping for, too. I think it's very possible if Buffalo beats Can't, then Miami can beat Buffalo and Akron gets the finals against Miami. If this happens, REVENGE TIME BABY!
  8. I didn't even know CSU had a team. I guess you learn something new every week...
  9. I can stomach anyone that isn't being recruited by Can't. I would also prefer good character. I just want to start making a run at being a mid-major powerhouse.
  10. I disagree...we make the NIT if we make MAC tourney championship. No, we make the CBI if we make the MAC championship game. The NIT went out the window tonight.Agreed.
  11. Yeah your right. Wrong choice of words there. And you are right about the recruiting. Although, I think next years' class looks more athletic. How about something with a heart ripping? The "heart-ripping" emoticon? WE GOT OUTHEARTED!
  12. But it's so true. THAT WAS EMBARRASSING PERIOD! Only thing good about tonight was hopefully it's the last game against Can't's seniors. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:
  13. It was very disappointing, and at this point I don't think we have a chance. We do great against DIV II and weak Western Div teams. Big deal, that's not going to get us anyplace. But I must say, the shot selection was just so disappointing.Zips are clearly better than anyone else in the MAC except Can't ...and OU. Can I request a "Choke-job" emoticon?
  14. There's a Can't State blonde student. She's auditioning for this dumb blonde girl part. The director tells her to do stupid stuff. She fails. The director asks if she is dumber then blonde. The blonde girl says, "Yep. I go to Can't State; it's the new low."
  15. Can't State's most famous student...
  16. Love GP1's idea. I would also like to get a good media productions team going so our videos before the game get better.
  17. I haven't gone a day (at least at school) in over a year without wearing an Akron shirt. I'm wearing my "My 2 Favorite Teams Are..." shirt tomorrow. GO ZIPS!
  18. I think you mean the south side. The North side is like 10 rowdies, 30 regular students, and a few recruits usually. Not to mention a couple NBA scouts on occasion.Jackie Moon is a promoter, not a scout.
  19. I read that article in study hall today. I thought it was well written and brought up great points that Akron has lacked for a long time now. One of those points was that the special appeal to college sports is the students. Students can make or break a game in some circumstances. Tom, this is for you man:
  20. Yeah and thank god for Buffalo for knocking them out in the tourney, or else we're not MAC champs.
  21. Don't remember lol sorry.
  22. I was listening to Michael Reghi on 850 WKNR. He started to promote the MAC tourney, then right after, mentioned the Can't vs. Akron game. Reghi said something like how well each team has set themselves up for the tourney and how fun the game is going to be. He also mentioned he is trying to get his radio show to be broadcast from the JAR or something like that. That just proves how HUGE of a game this is! ESPN2 prime time, Reghi's show (maybe), and it's for the NIT auto bid, MAC reg. season title, and a rivalry? The game can't come fast enough!
  23. I LOVE playing Syracuse. My grandparents both are Syracuse alum, and it's fun trash talking with them. I like this football schedule a lot more than last year. Let's just hope we can produce wins.
  24. If you are a mid-major, the NIT is very important.Ask Travis or Joyce how they feel about not getting a chance at the post season a few years ago. It still eats at them.Ask Dambrot if he would like to compete in the NIT over sitting at home. I'm guessing he'd take the NIT.Do you think it would help a kid like Zeke to play a post-season game against someone like Cincinnati or Dayton, or would it be better to sit at home? I'm guessing post-season experience would be an asset to him.Two of Dambrot's best wins, the one's that "Basketball Guy" covets so much, are Temple and Florida State. If we don't play in the NIT, we don't have them.K.e.n.t. used their NIT success to catapult them to their NCAA run. For a program like Akron, the NIT is a great way to get tourney experience against solid competition. And, the way the Zips arrange their OOC schedule, one of the only chances to get a marquee win."Take it to the Extreme Guy" will point out the blatantly obvious and say - "No one cares about the NIT. Joe Akron/Hoops fans only care about the NCAA Tourney."Duh. No one argues that point. The NIT is VERY important for a mid-major program for all the reasons listed above. Having a 25-win season, and no post season, again, would be crippling.+1
