  1. lol! I picture someone chanting this bowed before a shrine
  2. I'm not more knowledgeable either, but when I see people posting videos of arena's being converted from hockey to basketball, and there is a time lapse video of 50 people and a half dozen large equipment working for hours and hours to move thousands of pieces of floor and rigging and shifting dozens of seat/stands, and then I think of the energy costs keeping the ice frozen and for removing humidity and condensation on your basketball floor not to mention keeping the rest of the arena warm while there is a slice of Antarctica is in your building... all this extra time, effort and money, just to make the arena less intimate for basketball so that the 28 people besides friends and family can watch the hockey team play..... well, when I see that, I think "what a drain that must be!" So many people, even if many are volunteers. So much organization. So much more equipment. So much more hassle and scheduling to practice. So much more maintenance and problem mitigation....
  3. I don't really want to ask this because (1) I could be wrong and I hate being wrong, but (2) worse yet, I could be right.... but.... What if no kids want to buy Akron basketball jerseys?
  4. This is so good, I think it needs it's own website. It would be like daring moths not to fly into the flame. The Can't student atheletes would hear about the site and try really hard not to crime, and yet somehow it would just seem to unfold before them.
  5. HOLY F'N SH1T! This is the funniest thing I've read on the internet in ages!
  6. There once was a baller from Akron His moves were as sweet as Saccharin He said with a smile Digg my style By the time I shoot you still staggerin'
  7. flash's a word I heard in a pan or bowl with turd? golden stream or bird? freakin' haiku's are restrictive!
  8. Rhyme in time sublime Can't is prime with grime and slime Will crime for a dime

  10. I literally just spit coffee all over the place when I saw this. OMFG
  11. Oh! How was it in there? I haven't been in there yet, but I noticed from the buzztime site that they are carrying the trivia, which is a fun diversion of mine. A friend of mine mentioned that they found Beer Haus had the trivia, and my first question was, why wasn't it named Bier Haus? Okay I'm definitely curious. Where did you find this?
  12. I didn't like it. The color itself didn't actually bother me, even though it was a bit foreign to me... but the silver and white didn't seem to lend itself to the trim and style pattern as well as the blue does.
  13. *edited* Thanx for the correction. The OU game yesterday is still in my psyche . I also agree with your point. Does this repeated sentiment really need a brand new thread?
  14. Listen, I was highly skeptical of the hire at the time. As I said in posts before, I felt that there was most certainly room to drop from JD, but after a 3 win season, writing was on the wall. Unfortunately, reward requires risk (unless you hit rock bottom then there is no risk, but we didn't hit rock bottom under Brookhart, we did under Ianello). But.... we have to be honest in hindsight. At the time, TW was hoping he plucked a future gem from the rough before anyone else was had the wisdom to recognize it. I remember that was the mood and perspective of a lot of fans too. We were hoping that TW had the wisdom to find a future winner whose time had come to take the reigns of a program before he was taken by someone else and proven a winner there. It seemed like a gamble, because obviously he had not proven himself as head hancho, or even really as coordinator with a master plan. But still, I think the writing between the lines was supposed to be "Hay, someone is going to give him his shot and he could be proven a winner, and at that point, we will have lost out on our shot to get him, so let's take a chance". It was a learning experience, and you can see the philosophy has changed exactly the opposite this time around
  15. no Zeke got fouled hard bringing down a rebound, and after the play was done, Zeke turned around to say a few words. He was immediately T'd by the ref. Zeke had walked away when Q rolled up to dish his thoughts to Cooper, ref turned and gave him a technical too. To me, it's not the same thing as jumpin' into a real scrape when you got your teammates back. Also, I can't really criticize, because I don't know how cool I could be with cooper climbing down my back, but Zeke needs to know that he's going to take some licks and accept it. It sux to get banged but the time and place for expressing your aggression is while the game clock is running.... and I don't think that means holding in your resentment between plays. The only score that matters is the one in lights, not the one between you and others.
  16. Zeke as the right to declare Marshall Law and take control of the game
  17. cool story bro. We HAVE a basketball team worth building an arena for. They are not a fantasy, a figment, or a hope
  18. I do not want to be closed minded to hockey here, but I just don't think that the optimal basketball experience should be compromised when we don't even have a disney-fistfight-on-ice program here anyway
  19. I don't know about anyone else, but i'm not a fan (pun intended) of these supposedly small compromises. To me, 35 feet farther from the action is like taking your first row people and putting them into the 12th row... and everyone else also getting a 12 row disadvantage. Of course we are just talking distance, first row people still get he luxury of not having any fans in front of them, but I think that's a huge compromise! And remember, we aren't just talking about one row of people getting pushed back... everyone is. There's two methods for getting lots of fans in the seats; -Prescription one is to win lots and win big. Everyone shows when the product is popular. -Prescription two is to have a fairly entertaining product but have a venue that is on top the action, steeped theater seating, and most importantly, seat backs plus tolerable shoulder width spacing so that you can sell tickets to middle aged fans with money to replace all the front runners who wont be buying tickets because Prescription-1 is not in effect.
  20. Big Thanks. It probably should have occurred to me that I could find this setting right on the thread page. D'oh!
  21. As of yesterday, when I open threads on this forum, I see the first post, and under it I see the titles listed in a threaded outline. I have to click on them to read the posts. I was assuming that I must have accidentally changed my thread view settings, but I went into My Controls and into Board Settings, and I couldn't find a place to fix this. Does anyone know where I can reset this to full linear post view?
  22. Ianello couldn't win with Brookhart's recruits, even though Brookhart could win with his own recruits (as well as win with his predecessor's recruits early on rather well), and that's why JD got so many more years here than Rob Ianello. Coaching makes a difference. I was against replacing Brookhart unless we could hit a homerun, because I knew instinctively at the time that JD could get wins out of his players and there was a risk of downgrading to someone who couldn't get wins out of the level of talent present, even though I recognized that time had run out with a 3win season. Nothing personal against Rob Ianello whatsoever, but there was almost NO RISK in firing him and replacing him. Anyone could fare better. Who he is replaced with turned out infact a homerun (I'll go on record and say that before a single game is played). I hate to actually state something to akin to expectations, but I will be surprised if we get only 2 or 3 wins this year, but I will settle for it. If Bowden says he has a "process", I will actually believe him.
  23. LOL that name reminds me of something.... Who remembers Balki Bartokomous :tomato:
  24. Me too! Welcome aboard, the ride should start to get entertaining again. The ride back in time?
