  1. I like Guinness when my palette is clean. But try going from a Edmund Fitzgerald to a Guinness, and you will see how Guinness is lacking.
  2. Nice! I'd remember that plate if I'd seen it.
  3. This part is brilliant. Particularly in Columbus, where a lot of the faithful would love to see him back on his feet. However, I don't know that we care too much about garnering supporters in Columbus. I don't see them driving up 71 on those saturdays when we have a home game and they don't. Attention from the Cleveland media? That's something different all together. Has interesting potential. Almost all of it negative. But I'm not so sure that negative attention is worse than no attenion.
  4. lol we can play Can't twice a year, since Acme now supports Can't, they can sponser the Acme-Flash game, and our home game against those guys can be the sponsored Giant Eagle-Zip game. heh... I like the idea of beating Can't twice a year though

  6. I was all about waiting out the season.I still have one thing left. If we get blown out next week or the week after, then I am all aboard the remove-Rob express.I have long advocated patience. I wanted it with Brookhart. But this is starting to look like a whole different ballgame
  7. 3 wins or less at the end of the season and I'll be right there with you. .500 or better in MAC play at the end of the season and I will be for giving him one more year. Firing him after one game is just crapping your pants as a reaction to one hiccup. No reason to be so reactionary now.
  8. "I don't think that was classy, but good luck the rest of the year" I am happy that I heard rob say that to luke. I was so riled up that I would probably have started a fight with any jerk I saw out wearing OSU gear at the bars tonight. That blitzing and those deep throws in the fourth quarter were classless, but that's what we deal with standing behind a bad program playing on a saturday against classless cheating program corrupted by shitloads of money.
  9. A seperate smaller elite BCS division = less money overall. You need to give the illusion of inclusion to the other 60 - 100 middle sized schools, even if it's folly. Otherwise, you render them sub-division and interest sinks because of it. Yes, those schools who do well in the non-elite championship conference will show a relatedly higher attendance, but the overall attendance levels, TV/media viewership, merchandising, and general interest drops as a whole. Less Money = no F'n way, Jose. End of story
  10. OH! THERE HE GOES AGAIN! ALL GOING ON ABOUT "what are you talking about?". I AM SO TIRED OF IT!?!!!11
  11. I tend to think that people who do something like that would endure a fair level of social scorn. I have witnessed that active online communities rather effectively police themselves, though this occasionally falls prey to subjective social judgement rather than some sort of lofty unbiased objective, for the most part staff can sniff out such factional bullying, and members tend to quell excessive trolling by themselves.

  13. As a forum administrator, I'd just like to say that if a thread goes off topic, all you have to do is report it to a moderator. I think that this is particularly true if it goes blatantly off topic, rather than going on a tangent, because sometimes conceptual tangents are still relevant to a topic and can be worked out in same thread. But I don't have this problem so much because I generally ran (run) off topic communities. I am also aware that some people like to whine about OT posts specifically when they disagree with the premise and would enjoy a little bit of censorship.
  14. If they are using Ad Words, great. It seems a little more random to me. I just clicked on four ABJ stories to see what would happen and onlyh on the Federal Judge story did the ad come up. I saw a bunch of ads for things I haven't been looking for. No, I was going to mention contextual advertising. With stuff like adwords, you really get a lot of tools for when and where your ads get placement. About the quality of OUs promos, I believe that have a fairly well recognized film school. I dunno if they utilize that for promos, but I would imagine that have some students who know what they are doing with video equipment.
  15. I was told that Heineken doesn't import Tarwebok anymore, but told by others that it's imported as "Special Dark". If you spot it, please let me know. I'd appreciate it.
  16. Two points:1. We don't compete at the top level right now. We call ourselves D-1A, but we really aren't. My 20 inch penis agrees.2. They will just ask the taxpayers to pick up the tab...and they will. We are currently killing ourselves by other means.Lastly, I'll say it for the 1,000th time. It isn't being sent to another level. We won't go back to I-AA and will be at a higher level than YSU. It will be a level between bcs and I-AA. We need to live in the world of reality.someone who pulls penis size into an online argument may as well be putting hitler into it. You lose all credibility to make a point, even if you are being satirical. I would ask who knows who the division 3 and below state champs are, but anyone who has spent two minutes on the internet wont trust the responses. I'll just say that even if some of you guys know who they are, 98% of the populace doesn't know and doesn't care.
  17. Damn, I wanted to be the first
  18. It's been a running joke here for years about the Felons at K3nt State, but this is getting ridiculously unfunny. Are they actively screening recruits to find the worst kind?
  19. did someone photoshop his mouth? I mean, is that humanly possible? It looks like some sort of exxaggerated cartoon mouth.k... anyway, second year. If he was right the first year but looked wrong because it was right but didn't fruit, then he is right and should stay the course.*breathes*but............................................... if he was just wrong all along... ugh*sigh*

  21. The libertarian in me is all for busting up the NCAA's draconian control over adult (yes, students, but legal adults) american citizen's lives and potential livelihoods. Also, I tend to favor GP1's slant that the NCAA doesn't have to be forced to dole out some sort of compensation to participating athletes, just free them from the hypocritical control to earn personal money (hypocritical because the NCAA is raking in mad loot due to the performance of these people). However, I can tell you that if things changed this way, the inevitable eventuality is that the bigger players at the bigger schools will become millionaire students, paid to be present in promotional ways, and (if permitted) make loads in endorsement deals. "Hi, I am Tyrell Prior, and I got my Hummer at Cow-town Hummers. You should too!", and the middle sized schools and their students will feel obligated to compete by setting up systems to encourage local business in these college towns to pay students for their time, their image, and their endorsements. "Come to Slippery Rock to play basketball. Our starting basketball players each netted over $25,000 just last year in promotional activities!", and athletic departments will dedicate personnel to just these ends... finding money for players through programs, and attracting players because of it. What a crazy circus it would become
  22. Wow, that $16,000 is almost to the poverty level!!! A guy can live it up on that. This mentality is completely void of any understanding of where a lot of the kids come from and is really the 1950s mentality I like to make fun of. Most people in this country have zero idea how poor many of the families the kids playing college football really are. Many players would have to take that $16,000 and give a lot of it to maybe his single mother on welfare so she can take care of her other children. Any kid who loved his mother and fellow siblings would do everything he could to help her. To pretend otherwise is silly. Again, the answer isn't to pay the kid. The answer is to allow him to make a legal income as long as he keeps up with the most important thing in his life....football, and second....school work. As long as he is fulfilling those obligations in that order, he should be allowed to have a job. agree (except that a LOT of kids playing college ball are not from poor families and I think that is a stereotype. Some might be) I don't think the athletes need to be given a piece of the NCAA's pie, I think the NCAA's pie is a monopoly and they wouldn't have the ability to control the lives of it's student participants if it wasn't one.
  23. I can leave my current job and find another one. It might not be easy in this economy but that is not the point. I don't have to play adhere to my current employer's code of conduct, even if I signed an agreement to do so, because I have options. There are other places I could work. (Not to mention, I could sue my current employer if they fired me based on unreasonable terms in "code of conduct"). So you really are reinforcing my point. Necessary? haha, do you see what you did there? Now you're going to say that you don't have to become a professional athlete, OR that there may be other ways of becoming a professional athlete, but these options are not competitive viable alternatives. The NCAA is a pay to play racket. You are not paying out of your pocket, but they are getting paid lots because of you, and if you decide not to play, they can shrug it off and replace you with thousands and thousands of viable alternatives. They have all the choices, you have none. You really are struggling with this concept, aren't you? Your metaphor is absurd. There is no single organization stopping you from using an automobile, besides the government, and the government is a socially sanctioned monopoly of power. (if you want to debate government monopoly on authority, we can take this to a politics thread in the smack forum). Ford motor company can't stop you from buying a General Motors product. There IS NO MONOPOLY because there are viable alternatives. The NCAA has none, and they have intentionally structured their rules, as well as their arrangements with other organizations, in order to have that monopoly. If you could please show me where you can graduate HS and enter the NFL draft, I think you would do well in this discussion. Even that doesn't mean the NCAA isn't a monopoly, because there isn't a viable institutional alternative. You would simply be able to bypass them as a gateway. But at least there would be an option.
  24. You pretty much spelled out a monopoly. The NCAA is a racket. There are no alternatives. Nothing remotely viable in any competitive definition. The NCAA can make puppets out of everyone as a condition of involvement. I strongly believe in the merits of capitalism, but only competitive market capitalism. I am also strongly in favor of the spirit of anti-trust/anti-monopoly. I am not convinced that it's a good thing for collegiate stars at top schools to make ridiculous loot at big engagements, but I don't think the NCAA should be given the right to govern the liberties and the rights of student-athletes in order to participate.
