  1. It's a wonderful social media tool if used correctly. The Cleveland Indians are a perfect example. Cleveland? OH GOD! THEY'RE ALL IN A CONSPIRACY AGAINST US AKRONITES! HOW DARE YOU MENTION A PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM FROM THE AREA!!!!
  2. Where is race an issue? What an ignorant comment. I'm pretty sure thuggs and druggies come in all shapes and colors.
  3. Clicked that Twitter feed, are we assuming the "I'm back" is related to basketball? He also hadn't sent a tweet for 3 days...maybe he was just saying "I'm back on twitter." Just saying, with recent events I don't want to assume and be disappointed
  4. The only charge that shows up on the dockets is a 1st degree misdemeanor assault charge with a pretrial date of 12/22. If it sticks is the question...
  5. Now I'm no expert on all the things UA's Board of Trustees does, but there's a simple description on UA's website: The University of Akron's Board of Trustees is the governing body for The University of Akron, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 3359.01. The Board is composed of 11 members—9 voting members and 2 nonvoting student members—who are appointed by the Governor of Ohio with the advice and consent of the State Senate. Trustees are appointed to a nine-year term of office, with the exception of student Trustees who are appointed to a two-year term. The Board of Trustees has been charged by the Ohio Legislature (Ohio Revised Code 3359.03 and 3359.04) with: selecting and appointing the president; setting the operating budget; approving personnel appointments; granting all degrees awarded by the University, including honorary degrees; establishing tuition and fee rates; approving contracts; and approving all rules, regulations, curriculum changes, new programs and degrees at The University of Akron. The bolded parts would seem to relate to things involved with a major hiring. So it's not unreasonable to think that the UA Board of Trustees would be presented in this meeting with a report on any previous UA meetings with someone like Jim Tressel, and whether anything further was required moving forward. After reporting out to the Board of Trustees and fully informing them of all details, it's not unreasonable to expect that any significant news might also be shared with the public. So I think it's fair for all the zero percenters and all the hundred percenters to reign in their ponies and wait just a few more hours to see what official word comes out after the Board of Trustees executive session, which, by the way is private and not streamed on the web as regular public sessions are. On the Board of Trustees meetings...are all or part of them public? Anyone free tomorrow?
  6. Ch. 3 said 'internet rumors.' Cited Repository as him not coming. Stupid channel 3. BOO!
  7. This whole thing is getting quite asinine. Are you quoting the goofball from twitter who said Akron offered 6 million over 4 years? I have some swampland in Arizona to sell you if that's where you're coming up with info. People are making up BS, broadcasting it on Twitter/Fb on purpose, and then laughing. This includes some of our own. Time to stop monitoring and sit back and wait to see what happens like I did with our last homerun.
  8. Canton Repository just posted that they spoke with Tressel's people and that he has been at his home all day in columbus and that he is not taking a coaching job at Akron. Maybe not, but the moron that wrote the article doesn't even know that Infocision Stadium has better meeting rooms then most of campus and they hold high profile events there all the time. What do you expect when a guy has been covering sports for the Suppository for 20 years? Gotta do something when you can't get a better job.
  9. This would at least be a game if we had a legit pg. Rico, get your head out of your ass.
  10. What's fun is predicting the poster by viewing ZN on my phone. The way the browser interprets the site, I can see the post and not the poster. skip zip wins the award for most predictable.
  11. Personally, I'd buy 4. And I'd get in for free next fall because I'll be taking classes. Without a doubt, it'd be the best thing ever to happen to UA football. Make it happen, Wisty.
  12. Footballscoop obviously has a good UA source as they were the first to nail the Ianello firing, so they have big creds with me. I'll just repeat here what I said in an earlier post: Tressel may not be the greatest college football coach in America. But he is without question the best proven college football coach who would even have the slightest chance of considering coming to Akron for what UA can afford to pay. that source was the first to report Ianello was being hired by Akron a couple years ago. This latest scoop makes me think the "source" is someone that posts on this board. A quote about facilities being best in the MAC? Come on. Still hope it's right. you dont think Akron has one of the better football facilities in the MAC? Oh no, I do. Absolutely. However, it doesn't seem like something a legitimate source would highlight in a tip.

  14. Fair enough.
  15. Easy there, killer. I'm not saying that he didn't deserve it, but that's pretty much saying to an OU fan, "In your face! You get to kick our assess a few more years while we rebuild. Again."
  16. With all due respect, you're bragging about our head coach being fired. Really.
  17. Wasn't it yesterday that someone said that Fickell would stay on Meyer's staff at osu? Would anyone in their right mind take this place as their first hc job?
  18. This just popped up. Not that it's any better of a source, but if anything, signals are mixed.
  19. Not that he'd say, "Oh, I'm fired," but in the post game today, coach seemed pretty confident that he and his staff would be back next year. He asked for patience and stated that he's had one recruiting class thus far, and the staff is working on the second. I feel bad for the guy, but I just don't see how this gets better. It's not as if they're knocking the ball out of the park by having top 50 recruiting classes, or even top-of-the-MAC rankings. As little stock as I put in recruiting sites, it's hard to be optimistic at all when we're ranked middle-to-bottom of the pack in the MAC by all standards. I guess we'll see what happens in the coming days...
  20. Scoop. Ianello given lifetime contract. Goal to set all time record for consecutive losses at any sport at any level.
  21. Are you the poster formerly known as Akron Football by chance? *like*
  22. People are speculating on the man's punishment like people are speculating about him coming here. There's nothing wrong with daydreaming about something that would be a huge shot in the arm for the program and more than likely a huge positive. The man does have ties to the program and NE Ohio, so its not 100% beyond the realm of possibility.
  23. For the conspiracy theorists, Valpo dismantled Duquesne tonight, 84-68. A blistering 9/20 on 3s, and 58% from the field overall was too much for the Dukes to get past. On a side note, Valpo shot 25 free throws to Duquesne's 14. The Dukes were called for 6 more fouls, 19-13.
  24. You should be at the JAR when a ref makes a questionable call. Lunatic fringe. I referee co-ed, elementary school-aged children's church-league basketball and that's rough enough! I wouldn't want to touch high school, let alone D-1 college refereeing with the proverbial 10-foot pole. But a 38-7 free throw shooting discrepancy should definitely cause a few raised eyebrows. However (I didn't check the stats, but I doubt it was as lopsided as Valpo), we dropped a game to the Dukes last night & we can't blame the refs for that one. Right on the money. Akron lost game two because of themselves. They couldn't make a free throw, and we were without Rico and Nik for most of the 2nd half due to a knee issue and a temper tantrum respectively. Having been at both games, its a much more comforting feeling when we lose for ourselves. The foul discrepancy for tonights game with Valpo vs Duquesne will go a long way in toward telling me how I should feel about Friday night.
  25. I was at the game. Believe me.
