Stop making sense spicy one. It can't be tolerated by many here. My statement was ridiculous? Let's see.. losses over the past few years: VCU (3 times), Dayton (3 times), CSU (2 times), RI (2 times),Temple (-35), NC state (-21), Pitt (-21), Minne, Miami, FL, Texas A&M and this year WV (-21), and freaking Middle Tenn by 24. I think these few examples show my point is far from ridiculous. The pessimist in me could also use your example to say that KD has lost more MAC championships than he has won. Like I said, I love having KD as our coach, especially your point about how he runs the program, but we have to start consisently beating even other mid majors before even being in the national conversation. And if we did that and didn't win the national championship, then you'd be upset. Some people are never happy. A well-run mid major program that wins the vast majority of their games, including advancing to the conference championship for a record number of years isn't enough? Come on.

If you want to read something REALLY funny, go to the MAC general section on NCAAbbs and read the general thread on Terry Bowden. Fans of nearly every school in the MAC talk about what a home run hire it is and how it's good for the entire conference. Then some K-ent fan chimes in with some "off field" BS and is COMPLETELY ignored by the rest of the conversation.

Hopefully its just coach-speak, but in the game notes on the ABJ site, Dambrot says Rico "probably won't play." It does look like Harney will be back in the lineup. We are gonna have a tough time against the press without Alex...

I share the sentiment that Bowden was one of the best available. Correct me if i'm wrong, didn't he spend some time with the Zips as an assistant? Anybody that experienced the Rubber Bowl trough's has instant street cred in my book!! WOOT Go Zips!!! Ku*k Fent!!! Wiki says he was an assistant at UA in 1986.

I'm incredibly happy with this hire. The guy has a great football mind, and comes with big time name recognition. He could, perhaps, pull together a mediocre class in the short time available.

Wow. I don't think there's a candidate out there that I like. If Mike Johnson is our best choice, we're in trouble. The guy has spent his entire career on the West Coast, with the exception of a couple years in Baltimore and Atlanta coaching professional football. Unless he brings in some guys that have connections in the MAC footprint for recruiting, we'll be in a ton of trouble with him as well. I have no optimism whatsoever that we'll find a coach that'll do anything for the program over the next 5 years. And we thought we'd sunk to the bottom with Ianello...

Lets make it a little easier on ourselves. We can fill the AD and HC positions simultaneously. We've had so much success so far...

Should be a fun game. I enjoy the series as much as I do the one with CSU. The away games are easy to attend, even on a weeknight. The early line has the Zips giving 10 points. We shouldn't have any problem with a team that struggled against a terrible Toledo team. I see the Zips winning this one by an even dozen, with only two or three minutes for the end of the bench unlike the 7 or 8 they received in the last couple games.

Let me preface this with the fact that I love Nitro. He just doesn't fit with the new style of play. Nik has the same issue, but his position makes the difference in style less obtrusive. We need Bret to start being out Ehlo.

Of course you are, you are one of the worst offenders of Chicken Little Syndrome. We will be fine. We are made up of mostly young kids who will continue to get better. Deep breaths before someone starts the "maybe Dambrot should be on the hot seat" thread like last year.

Not that I disagree with your general point, but KD recently turned 53 and Winters was a SR RB at UA in 1979 (my 1st year at UA), so they have be very close in age. Good point...and after examining further, he has been coaching for nearly 30 years including about 8-10 years at the division 1 level. 8 seasons as head coach at DII Wayne State as well. Good resume. I hope he gets it.

To be real honest, I'm pulling for Winters at this point too. My main issue is people trumping him up to be a Dambrot for football. Those are some big shoes for a younger man. Dambrot has said this is his dream job, and he's not some young guy looking to move up. Winters is a relatively young man, fairly early in his coaching career. I don't doubt that he holds some pride in his alma mater, but I think it would be foolish to imagine him coming here and sticking around for a decade with consistent success. Not that I wouldn't want that to happen...

Does this have deeper roots in the program? Two young men who became addicted to drugs while playing for the Zips and die way too young is not the additional bad press this program needs. RIP Chris, and prayers to the family.
