  1. Of course the guy who shoots 56% from the FT line hits both. Looks like our #1 ranking in luck has ended.
  2. I'm hoping we can beat Ashland tonight.
  3. We look like the Zips of old with all the layups we miss in this game. I thought BD got hacked a few times with no call also. Still Akron looks to have no interest in this game.
  4. The winning streak was fun but we all knew the team wasn't going to win out. It always comes down to the MAC tournament. I think Kwan wasn't feeling all that well and it hurt his shot.
  5. Looks like a loss coming. Oh well I expected to lose here, at Buffalo, and maybe at Kent.
  6. Seems like Big Dog is getting some questionable calls. Now that he has 4, it is going to take the rest of the time to step up big!
  7. Interesting half time contest with kids on bouncy balls racing. At the start of the race, the Zip announcer noticed one of the contestants had a hat on from another University so he ripped it off with a comment "What's this another school's hat and a school that got 0 points at that"! Or words to that effect. At the end of the race he still had the hat in his pocket, but I assume he eventually gave it back.
  8. That's all I get too. I did get ads and then nothing.
  9. Neither one works for me. Listening to the radio instead.
  10. Starting to look like a game we will lose that we should have won. Lots of time left though but now down 10!
  11. Poor second half so far. Turnovers, missed FTs, bad defense. Down 58-52. After being up 11 in the first half.
  12. Bad end to the half allowing YSU to finish 6-0.
  13. I didn't watch the Wisc. LSU game or any highlights so my projection is just off the Zips performance. Akron racked up lots of offense but mainly due to big plays which is a concern since I think UW will shut down the big plays for the most part. The Zips need to control the ball more on offense, so the Zips O-line will be a big key to the game. The Zips defense is also a cause for concern after last week;s performance. My pick is UW 31 Akron 13, but at half time it will be only 14-6 due to UW, thinking it is a bye week playing Akron after beating LSU last week. I didn't even think of going to the VMI boards last week to see if any of their fans thought they would win or to post on their fan board (assuming they have one), as I wouldn't care. I am surprised any UW fans care enough to stop by here. Thanks for stopping by and making it entertaining though. Hopefully the game will be exciting to watch and not just a blow out. I don't think I have ever seen a team jump from not ranked to number 10 in one week. A close win for UW will drop UW down to where I thought they would be after going un-ranked to ranked (15 or so). Of course a UW loss would probably take them back out of the polls since Akron is such a weak team (according to all the UW fans). I think it would take a big blow out for UW to move up in the polls though. If they just cover the spread they may stay at 10 or move up or down slightly depending on what other teams do.
  14. Or what you say about Akron beating UW.
  15. Wow lots of negativity on here. Looks like the Zips ran out of gas, that happens when you play 4 games in 6 days. I believe OSU had a few more days off then we did (or at least did not play as many games in the last week that the Zips did). We do need more of an inside game than just Big Dog. FT's were the problem, but most of them were by Big Dog who was probably Dog tired . Also remember the Zips should have hosted this game based on RPI. Even with our poor FT and 3PT percentage I think the Zips would have won at home. I am looking forward to next year!
  16. Here is an article that mentions Akron and suggests only expanding to 72 teams: http://thecomeback.com/thestudentsection/basketball/its-time-for-a-72-team-ncaa-tournament-with-structural-reform.html
  17. It has always annoyed me that in theory a team could lose all it's regular season games as long as that team won all games in the tournament they are in the NCAA. In one bid leagues tournaments reward the deeper teams and that team that gets hot or just has a lucky draw of opponets. How about instead the NCAA field is expanded to 96 teams with 32 teams having a first round bye and get rid of the NIT? The regular season winner gets an automatic bid and if the regular season winner also wins the tournament they get a first round bye as an additional reward.
  18. Sad we are only up by 5 considering the 9 made 3's.
  19. Video is fine for me with an occasional skip. i am watching it on my phone though. The audio has a bad hum to it though.
  20. Found it by going to the FS1 website - 75 on TWC
  21. Is that on TWC? And if so, what channel?
  22. I work with an OU alumni who has more Buckeyes stuff than OU and he always roots for the Buckeyes even when they play OU. I asked him why and he said a loss to OU would ruin the Buckeyes season. I told him, maybe it would but it would be great for OU and he agreed but still roots for the Buckeyes. So this isn't a Joe Akron only thing. Fortunately every other MAC alumni I have asked at work that is also a big OSU fan has told me they would always root for their own school first when playing OSU which is how it should be.
  23. Bad shooting, plus getting pounded on the boards = big loss. Congratulations to the Lady Zips for making it to the tournament. I hope they return and have a better showing next time and hopefully it won't be another 40 year wait!
  24. It was actually 20-2 at the start and now the second half has started with Purdue 4-0.
  25. I project Akron to go 6-3 in the second half with losses to Western Michigan and Buffalo on the road and one home loss to either Buffalo or Ohio. That assumes they will lay an egg in one of their home games and play as bad as the last two.
