  1. The Zips were penalized after that 3rd and goal play in the 4th quarter with under 10:00 to play, when at least one player lifted up his shirt as if he were showing a handgun sticking out of his waistband. College Officials are instructed to call an unsportsmanlike conduct when the official determines a player is “simulating brandishing a gun.” I am almost certain the Zips received a warning in the first half for the same senseless act. How this stuff continues to go on year after year is beyond me. They represent the team, UA, the community and themselves. Be better.
  2. Register for the 2024 Tipoff Reception - Wednesday, October 30, 6PM to 8 PM at the JAR https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/registration-form/?formId=7d5e7192-a310-41a8-be49-8dce2f9bfeeb&envId=p-UMe-qg1RCU-VaHO2Nu8s5A&zone=usa
  3. The game changed when the Special Teams Coach sent a return man out on the filed for a punt, while it was hailing and we were up 17 - 0 in the 2nd quarter. Our returner attempted to field the punt on the 5 yardline...while being pelted with HAIL! The ball was fumbled and it rolled into the endzone. TD WMU. Unacceptable decision. Worse case scenario is should have been - we have the ball on the 1 yard line up 17 - 0.
  4. If there has ever been a football team that needs a Fullback or if JOMO would play two Tight Ends - it is this one. Ben Finley looks like the best true QB that we have had in 20 years. All Ben needs is time and a FB or an extra TE would assist with the pass protection and the running game. Also, Jordon Simmons needs 20 or more touches per game!
  5. Any details or information to this rumor?
  6. Then again at: 6:30 PM on Wednesday, August 28th. 1:30 AM on Thursday, August 29th 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 29th
  7. Friday, July 26th - Wentz Financial Group Player Development Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!
  8. UA's Department of Athletics had their Zippy Awards. Looks like a great way to celebrate these athletes that represent the University of Akron, the alumni and our community. Go Zips!
  9. I would guess that Blake Hester was skipped over again and was not put on scholarship. Hate to see good people leave the program. Loved how he played so hard and with everything he had.
  10. Did a QB go under center? With our o-line troubles are we using a TE or even a FB for different looks, to help block?
  11. The only rumor I heard was the Ali Ali received $60,000 form Butler and he recieved $18,000 from Akron's NIL.
  12. I like that question, because I believe that the Akron Beacon Journal does not know this. Their reporting is so poor when it comes to Akron athletics. Think how good Women's Swimming and Diving is and Track and Field - plus other team sports on campus. UA is a D 1 school and they should shout it from the "Buchtel Summit’s glory."
  13. I would welcome a Post-Season Reception at the JAR like they have done with the successful Tip-off Receptions. This team needed celebrated one last time. It just seems like we miss out on building something more when we have momentum in our favor.
  14. No real facts about FEAR THE ROO MENS BASKETBALL COLLECTIVE LLC. Just a few clues on X...
  15. After the Zips game at PPG Arena, I passed Koby Altman the General Manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the concourse. You would have to think that Enrique Freeman impressed Koby after his 21 and 14 showing against the 7' 1" 270 lbs - Ryan Kalkbrenner, the Big East three time Defensive Player of the Year. I will never forget the 24 points, 21 rebounds and 7 blocks stat line against Ohio U. Really appreciate Enrique and going to miss him.
  16. NCAA tickets: Advancement increases allotment Schools given 550 tickets Odd as it sounds, the further you advance into the NCAA Tournament, the easier it is to get tickets. Each participating school was allotted 550 tickets for first- and second-round games, such as those taking place this week at the Ford Center. For regional sites next week, that number increases to 1,250 tickets per school. For the Final Four in St. Louis in two weeks, each school will be allotted 4,500 tickets. It's a numbers game. The smaller the field becomes, the more tickets can be allotted to participating schools. https://www.oklahoman.com/story/news/2005/03/16/ncaa-tickets-advancement-increases-allotmentbrschools-given-550-tickets/61950783007/
  17. Saw a good ask on Twitter. Will UA charter a bus to Pittsburgh for the fans...
  18. The Zips archive the games on their website. Groce's postgame interview starts about 3:03 mark. https://gozips.com/watch?Archive=436&type=Archive
  19. I have always heard that buying through the Zips Ticket Office financially helps UA Athletics.
  20. I have to go out of town and moved everyhting to accomodate the Zips schedule so I could attend what I believed would be Senior Night (Tuesday, March 5th) and then received the email. I will miss my second game of the season on March 2nd and it is now Senior Night. I love and appreciate this team. Really wish I could be there to see it. Go Zips!
  21. I think the beers are $8 and $9 dollars at the JAR - major league prices. Would love to see some creative promotions. This team deserves for UA Athletics to figure out how to get people in the door.
  22. The only game I lost on my 5 leg moneyline parlay. Thanks K.D.!
