  2. Added two SEC guys this offseason. Added several Big Ten players two. it is happening!!
  3. Add Caden Clark to the list. Real possibility. https://247sports.com/player/caden-clark-90889/
  4. Since April 7, 2022 has been officially proclaimed University of Akron Men's Basketball Day by Mayor Horrigan, I have to ask if any good information came out of the Zips Men's Basketball Champions Luncheon. Looks like on their Facebook page Coach Groce spoke. Did anyone attend? My invite must have gotten lost in the mail.
  5. Imagine if the Akron Beacon Journal allowed George Thomas to write detailed stories like this about Zips Football and Zips Basketball. Maybe the community would buy into the local Division I program. Appreciate the information catdaddyp.
  6. I need to hear from Coach Groce that everything is going to be OK. This team is ready to take off. The big challenge is for us to get a few more pieces with the Ali, Trimble and Kalle scholarships now open. I hope Groce and his staff can work their magic.
  7. The City of Akron needs to have a plan for this eyesore. Do something to help an area of town that has people from all over North America visiting each year for the Soapbox Derby. This idea cleans up the area, gives part of the structure some purpose and becomes a Metropark. Saw this suggestion before about making it similar to the Cleveland Metroparks -Strongsville Toboggan Chutes & Chalet... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi5pZOi8Oj2AhVRbs0KHRUHBlIQFnoECBMQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.clevelandmetroparks.com%2Fparks%2Fvisit%2Factivities%2Factivity-types%2Ftobogganing&usg=AOvVaw3YKYH9bqBIjIQtCzcuCpOZ
  8. Zips start at 34:50 mark. Proud to be a Zip!
  9. Senderoff places some blame for the Snapchat video on the Akron students from the February 11 game at the JAR. He also places blame on whoever shared the Snapchat (his player posted it) and said that it happened in the locker room and never should have got out. The press conference is worth a watch.
  10. "Kent State and Akron, whose campuses are separated by 10 miles, have one of the nation's most bitter rivalries." ESPN does a better job than local media. The bitter rival is entioned in this article.... Malique Jacobs to miss first half of MAC title game as four Kent State players disciplined for anti-Akron Snapchat video (espn.com)
  11. 41 to 22 Zips run after Sincere Carry and Jacobs skipped down the court.

  13. The University of Akron's - Polymer Science and Plastics Engineering is ranked: #1 in the World #1 in North America #1 in the United States World's best Polymer science and Plastics engineering universities [Rankings] (edurank.org)
  14. Joe Moorhead gave a great interview this morning at 7:30 on SiriusXM Channel 84 - Dusty and Danny in the Morning on ESPNU Radio. I heard that he was on and I was able to go back and replay the interview on the SiriusXM app.
  15. Just remember that this program had around 70 Freshmen or Redshirt Freshmen last season. I am confident we will see a big jump next year. This staff can develop players too.
  16. This is great news for Football, Basketball, Swimming & Diving and our Outdoor Track team. I am so happy for Dennis Mitchell, his staff and especially the student athletes to finally have an outdoor track they deserve. This is huge for basketball and much needed for the rebirth of Akron Football. Thank you Charles Guthrie and staff. Go Zips!
  17. According to gozips.com The Akron-Kent State Series Friday's game marks the 157th meeting in series history between Akron and Kent State. The first meeting was during the 1915-16 season at Kent State where Akron pulled out the win, 37-16. The Zips have won 16 of the last 27 meetings, including three consecutive games to even the all-time series record at 78-78, dating back to March 6, 2020. According to kentstatesports.com The Kent State men's basketball team (7-8, 2-3 MAC) will host Akron (9-4, 2-1 MAC) on Friday night at 8 p.m., inside the M.A.C. Center with hopes of breaking the historic rivalry's 79-79 tie. Is it our mistake or do we add Can't Add too?
  18. Move the game to 5 PM or think outside of the box and play at 11 AM. Have a community church fellowship day (kinda joking, but who knows if something like that would work - can't draw any worse than this next game). I am the biggest Zips fan, but I will watch the Browns game over attending Sunday. I think Charles Gunthrie will get creative when scheduling in the future and pay closer attention to these things. Just not fair to the entire program to go head-to-head against the Browns. These guys are too good to play in front of such a small crowd that will attend on Sunday. They deserve better!
  19. LC board close to naming presidential finalist By Matt Hollis matt.hollis@baytownsun.com (9-18-2019) After spending months going over nearly 90 applications from contenders seeking to be Lee College’s next president, and whittling it down to four, the board is close to naming a finalist. Last week, four finalists visited the campus to meet and answer questions from Lee College faculty, administrators, students and the public. The four candidates are Dr. Stephen W. Dunnivant, Dean of Business, Industry and Technology at Tallahassee Community College; Dr. Johnny Moore, president of Pierpont Community and Technical College in Fairmont, WV; Dr. Scott Scarborough. Professor of Practice – School of Accountancy at the University of Akron and previous University of Akron president; and Dr. Lynda Villanueva, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at Brazosport College.
  20. Agreed. The point is that Akron needs to figure out how to get people in the door to support the program and make it so fans want to return.
  21. https://www.cleveland.com/sports/2019/01/mac-basketball-at-a-high-attendance-is-low.html I am always selling the program as the best entertainment in town. A friend of mine took his family of four. They bought the Family Pack tickets for a total of $55 to sit in the bleachers, paid $10 to park, bought food for about $25 and a baseball cap for $30 for a total of $120. He and his wife are both graduates of Akron and said that they doubt that will return to a game. These are big league prices and we wonder why the arena is less than half full. The athletic department should be giving tickets away to every youth basketball program in the area and then hand them a buy one get one coupon for a return game. Try to fill the place, go back to free parking and have good concessions at a reasonable price. I bet they would be shocked on how much food/drink and merchandise they would sell. The JAR is great when it is full and our guys deserve more fan support.
  22. Danny Clark QB transferring from Kentucky Ethan Wright RB/DB Manchester (2020) Ben Christman, OL Revere (2021) Luke Bauer LB/DE Hoban (2021)
  23. According to Football Scoop... Akron: Mississippi State assistant head coach / run game coordinator / running backs coach Charles Huff has interviewed for the Akron head coaching job, Bruce Feldman tweets. Feldman also shares that Texas running associate head coach / running backs coach / running backs coach Stan Drayton is also “getting consideration” for the job.
  24. The U of A could provide Vince Kehres with about 300,000 additional reasons to lead the Zips.
