I wonder how accurate other schools attendance numbers are. I know the attendance inflation factor at Wright State is pretty severe. For example, if they report 4k, actual attendance was closer to 2K. Their inflation factor is inversely related to actual attendance. For instance if they report 8k in all likelihood there were 6k there. They have done this for a long time and I think it has something to do with an inferiority complex. UD routinely plays to near sellout crowds (13k) just across town.

But if you ask anybody in statistics, they will admit that you can work the statistics to say anything you want them to. Stats are just a tool of measurement, like a measuring tape. A carpenter uses a measuring tape to measure a piece of wood before cutting. If the measuring tape is defective, the piece of wood ends up the wrong size. If the measurement is not properly read, the piece of wood ends up the wrong size. If the carpenter ignores the measuring tape and just wings it, the piece of wood ends up being the wrong size. There are lots of ways of getting something wrong. Those who profess to totally ignore stats because they know better are like a carpenter who refuses to measure before he cuts. Statistical systems may not be perfect. But properly interpreted, they beat the heck out of just winging it. Speaking of stats. I’m trying to get Proc phreg in SAS to generate z scores with no success. Any of you proficient in SAS? Do you have v9.2 or an earlier version? 9.2

Tressel Never Quit Recruiting Howard
Zipmeister replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I'm rooting for him to be successful at whatever he does and wherever he goes to school. I have bailed out my neighbors who couldn't pay their mortgage and I've bailed out car companies and financial institutions and helped people buy new cars and houses and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure how many more people I can bail out, so if we could not add him to the list I'd really appreciate it. -
Not really. Moderators are ordinary posters...but with the added burden...I mean benefit of trying to keep relative order and letting people have their say. Nothing more. You should not try to follow anyone's model. As human beings, we have free will. Exercise it. If we all thought alike there would be no discussion. Just a bunch of "+1's." + 1

Comedy isn't the message...it's all in the delivery. I get it. A few people on ZN.O seem to have more frequent problems with my delivery style than others. That's why I added the new signature line. That's OK. There are a few people on ZN.O whose delivery styles I personally don't much care for, either. No big deal. We're all different. Either we constantly snipe at those whose delivery style we don't like, or we learn to accept our differences and live together in relative peace. Moderators are responsible for setting the tone on any forum, so I always try to follow the model they set. Once again, you have completely missed the point! The purpose of the Capt's photo was to demonstrate that the message is anorexic.

Well if they were to back out of a game with Akron, that would mean Akron would have to find a replacement game. Otherwise there would be no effect. In response to GP1's question, the answer is 40. You guys sure ask the tough questions.

Did you read Dave's post right above yours? I guess 193 is almost in the top 100.

No. Going to Fork Union and then trying to get into another school. Duh. Here's your sign.

OK let's end this debate

I went with the Bearcats, but the Quins and the Vikings aren't far behind. BG is the best in terms of flatness. -
If I knew how to insert one of them fancy vote for one of these choices boxes this would really have driven him crazy. The question: who is more likely to make an NFL squad: Bowser or Jones?
-
Well, I'm convinced. Welcome Blake, our next 6'5" knock down shooter, or not.
-
I heard a rumor he may be attending a prep school next year. Even if he never becomes a zip, he will regularly be using a zipper.

I love how I'm the only one who seems to do any research on these kids. This is about the only free article I can find about Justice's AAU exploits. In his return to AAU ball after a month off because of tendonitis he scores 18 in upset win for AAU team CBIZ over powerhouse All-Ohio Red (you remember them, the AAU team that features high-major recruits like Jared Sullinger, J.D. Weatherspoon, Adriean Payne, Stevie Taylor, Trey Burke and Traevon Jackson) at last years Bill Hensley's Memorial Run-n-Slam. http://www.jjhuddle.com/news/articles/2009...rial-run-n-slam I guess we shouldn't let little things like facts get in the way of blind hatred though. Oh great. Now you are telling me not only is he from Backwater, Ohio but he is also prone to injury.
-
Which begs the question, "what do you get if you combine Quickzip with zip37? A full glass.
-
So you have this kid projected to be our 6'5" knock down shooter. My, your glass is half full isn't it? I don't care if he is the best basketball player between Scrubb Ridge and Bacon Flat (located to the south and east of Peeble, respectively), he's doing all his scoring against division 17 or whatever high school competition and that's a long way from Division I college hoops (even MAC division I college hoops). I'm going to refrain from doing cartwheels at this point.

you know what, now that LeFevour is no longer a MAC rival, I wish him the best of luck. How lucky to be able to play for the team you grew up watching. I expect him to compete for Cutler's starting position within a couple years, especially if Cutler has a year like he did last year. I don't understand why guys are making fun of him here. We should want conference members to make it to the NFL. It brings cred to the MAC. We need all the cred we can get the MAC. So do you root for #7 from Pittsburgh? 2x Rapist, 1x motorcycle stunt man, all-time douchebag no, but I don't dislike him because he is from the MAC. I dislike him because of his character. I dislike him too. I also know my Steelers need him to win. I'll take winning over losing...it makes the fall go faster. There is a writer for the Post-Gazette in Pittsburgh that wroted a good article this week about the long term disaster that would be getting rid of Ben. His name is Ron Cooke and he wrote the article on Friday (I think). What day did you readed it?
-
He should fit right in at tOSU then. He should get three days in the bank right now for when the inevitable DUI hits. It will save him the time of serving the three days once he gets there. Signed Chris Jaquemain.... The last time I checked, Chris Jacquemain never made the police blotter. Isn't it wonderful when victims don't press charges?

There are no secondary bowl games; only people with secondary minds.

Not sure if Akron would be allowed to do this. I asked this question some months ago and was told that it is not allowed. Lest, many, many schools padded their roster in this manner. But the soccer program giving academic scholly's (as has been sort of confimed on that board) to loosen up athletic bids is OK? I don't get it! Really, why cant the basketball team just name Bardo as a grad assistant? Obviously you couldn't pay him but just cover his academics. Is there a rule i dont know of? If a stipend is a normal part of being a G.A., it is not obvious to me how "obviously you couldn't pay him." Are you trying to set up the University for some kind of discrimination lawsuit (against tall slow white guys)?
-
I think we should build an on campus football stadium to replace the aging Rubber Bowl. What do you guys think?
-
I think the Fallout from Bigger 10 expansion puts Akron in the new Northern Ohio Conference (NOC) with fellow members Can't State, YSU, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ashland, Mount Union, Hiram, Ohio Dominican, Oberlin, Baldwin Wallace, and University of Phoenix. We would be highly competitive in the NOC.

Do You Support Obama's Healthcare Legislation?
Zipmeister replied to InTheZone's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
It's in 'off topic...' section. And it is...off topic. I'm amazed that anybody can have such an opinion/understanding of the economic ramifications of a 2800 pg health care bill. Good for you guys. I have a hard enough time figuring out what kind of offense our basketball team runs. I'm really looking forward to the ZN debate on religion in next months poll entitled 'Religion, Which One is Right'. I think it is a good step. Health care should be and now is a right. Sorry you rich people had your taxes go up. Sucks. But at least now that everyone will be forced to be covered, the insurance industry will concentrate on controlling costs to profit and not finding more ways to screw you out of medical care. You know what I'm sorry about? I'm not rich, so my "taxes" didn't go up. But it is an objective fact that everyone that currently has health insurance will see their premiums go up. That sucks the big one considering how crazy costs already are. Good news, you won't have to be sorry for long; you don't have to be rich for your taxes to be increasing in 2010.
