  1. I can't imagine a scenario in which a rent paying tenant isn't covering the extra cost of a "multi purpose" arena. Otherwise, there would be no one leasing to minor league teams. So then, in my opinion, the discussion turns to if a minor league team can sustain itself here.
  2. This is a message board, I'm not concerned with convincing any investors to bring a team here. Just speculating on if one could make it. And from what I've seen in the area, I think the answer is yes.
  3. Well Dave, I'm a CPA. Keep your assumptions in journalism.
  4. Right, so if a minor league team can sustain itself here (see akron aeros) we would have an extra revenue stream. I think the only evidence we have on the success of a minor league team here would be past attempts. The Aeros do well, the indoor soccer team set attendance records.. Why is it a poor investment? I'm going to pull a dave and ask for some real numbers here. I see a lot of people saying so and so will never succeed here or make money without much reasoning. Nevermind the fact that if we go multi purpose, it's because the city shared the costs with us, so we have less at risk.
  5. Huh?? They're not going to lose money on rent. As long as the team turns a profit and can pay rent and their expenses, the U will be turning a profit.
  6. If no minor league teams made a profit, they wouldn't exist. Doesn't mean they will succeed in Akron, but you can't just dismiss them as nothing.
  7. Well, I think it starts with winning
  8. Someone finally figured it out. MONSTER TRUCK SHOWS!!
  9. whaaa?
  10. Teams that can win in the tournament should and can chew up and spit out MAC teams. If we can build a team that wins in the tournament, we will surely beat the rest of the MAC as well. I think Thursday showed us that we're a little further from where we want to be than we thought, but I think we're still close. On one hand, we were (very) shorthanded. On the other hand, VCU is still a better team than us if we were at full strength. Bad matchup for us. We're getting there, just hope we keep making steps forward, and none backward.
  11. Putting the Shaka connection aside.. Why the hell would we want to play VCU again? Was Thursday not enough for you guys?
  12. Yep. Melo is actually a very good ball handler, but is no threat on offense. None whatsoever... Needs to develop something to keep defenses honest.
  13. Thank you seniors! What a year. Feel so bad for Brian, probably the worst day of his life to be sick. Gotta be crushed. Thanks for a fun season.
  14. Negativity is fine. Whoever it was that I quoted (not you) was just plain miserable. No need to come on here and throw yourself a pity party because you went to an NCAA Tournament game.
  15. You're just miserable. Stay in Detroit, you belong.
  16. I think it's forty minutes no matter what
  17. MVTree
  18. The haiku thread is undefeated this year. I'm hijacking this thread for UA's good. VCU - time's up teacher's turn to go dancing boom shaka laka
  19. Not often talked about - Tree has some great ball handling skills. I look for him to be the wild card against the havoc.
  20. I'm not sure who else would even be in the conversation with us. With or without Q.
  21. MTSU definitely had the in your face/pressure defense, but was it full court?
  22. Wait who here said we have no chance? Besides akzipper
  23. Beat them.
  24. I was really hoping we'd draw OK State when I saw them pop up as a 5 seed.
