  1. I just texted Camden yesterday. He was on vacation and did not mention leaving his position. If he does I would regret it. He was good at what he did. He also did a lot with the little he was given. As the basketball season wound down we started to see some marketing. Camden directed a lot of it.
  2. I watched Goodrich's presser and was underwhelmed. That does not mean I think he is not up to the task. He just didn't say anything. No one in the room was inspired. That was reflected in the fact that only one question was asked from the crowd and that was from Dave Skozen (sp?) our play by play voice. I did like that he emphasized performance. Still there was no motivational vision, no claiming Akron is a sleeping giant or a dream job for anyone on the way up. Of course it isn't, but the faithful love to hear we can have a glorious future. He did offer lots of praise for RJ Nemer. No mention of our high achieving programs like MBB, MSoccer, WLax. But he also didn't mention the problematic ones either. No mention of football, facilities, budget or debt. That's probably a good thing if he doesn't have a clear plan this early in his tenure. I expected more because, like most Zip fans, I am holding out hope for a better future in all sports, but especially football.
  3. The hits just keep on coming and coming! The program looks bad. Joe looks bad. The NCAA looks bad and like clowns. But most of all the university, that has excellent students pursuing excellent degree programs, looks bad. Despite all this I believe building a quality, winning football program is achievable. I'm tired of feeling bad every time football is mentioned. I'm hoping Nemer and Goodrich are the people we need. The right people can do amazing things.

    LAX

I forgot this game was streamed and only caught the fourth period. That was fantastic! These ladies are for real and they are playing their best when it counts most. This program has coach Elaine Jones fingerprints all over it. She develops the talent she is given and recruits at a high level. The program couldn't be in better position and it is due to her leadership. I hope she stays to build a legacy of champions. Congratulations Zip LAX!
  5. Proud of our baseball team. Nothing but class!
  6. I feel Akron is a better fit for him than Georgia State. If they offered money to him that changes the dynamic. Yet if they did I bet he is not getting much.
  7. I like our new AD and hope he does well. I'll also chime in about our former AD Charles Guthrie to give another perspective. When Guthrie first arrived I wanted to get a personal measure of the man so I scheduled a meeting with him. I came away enthused that he had the right vision and experience to help us reach our potential. His hires for the administrative staff were the best we have ever had. On the coaching side I felt he was right to set performance standards and hold coaches to that. He cleaned house in several sports. Jared did most of the heavy lifting in getting soccer into the Big East, but Guthrie helped by showing more support than Williams ever did. Guthrie's retention of Michell, Engle, Peresie, Groce, and Embick were critical. Adding Moorhead, Faulds, Softball (?) and LAX are great in my eyes. The rest are TBD. Marketing did not seem to be a strength of his, but I supported his rebranding. UA needed it. The new A is fine with me, but it wasn't my first choice (the Z was) and I told him so when he asked alumni for opinions. I do not understand the vehemence regarding the A by a few on this board. I get you don't like it. Get over it. The change has been made. Don't hate on it with every post. That detracts from some of your really good posts. My position on Guthrie changed when I learned he had lied to some coaches, especially football. Why? I don't know. Yet when that was made known I welcomed his departure. I had high hopes for his leadership. It was never to be. Now we move on and I wish Goodrich all the best. He brings a hell of a background.
  8. Just a few thoughts on our new AD: He was brought in to find new or untapped sources of revenue He is a strong marketer, he is innovative and he sees potential here He has no history in hiring good coaches; I wonder what kind of network he has going for him He will be here 3-4 years, bet on that. He has had a taste of the big time and he has built a career designed to get back there He is the first AD I have ever seen that seems to have the career path focused on becoming a conference commissioner. He will be a good one too. If he can solve some of our problems I will be thrilled with his 3-4 year stay
  9. Will Burgess be making you run up the steps of Buchtel Hall (you deserve a reasonable challenge) to the tune of "Gonna fly now" ? If so, I want to be there for that!💪🥊
  10. I Don't believe it, but nice scam. I, for one, want them as an arch rival.
  11. Addition by subtraction.
  12. My bad. Thanks for the subtle correction. I had a good laugh at my expense. 😂
  13. So now we can prepare to lose him after next season. Sharon should be more than ready by then if he doesn't decide to go too.
  14. Welcome to Akron .... for a season.
  15. I'm in the group that says let me see a confirmation that Tavari is in the portal. Then I'll spazz out.
