  1. Comment from the 2016 Commits thread. Still true?
  2. Good coaching staffs typically find a way to take advantage new rules. Can't wait to see what the Zips come up with.
  3. Antiquated technology. Compared to the technology in the last 15 years, content, quality, and availability can't compete. Just like the difference between the two football divisions.
  4. Thank you. Less time for "defense." Four quarters sounds like more time outs, and less action to me. I would go the other way, take some time outs away.
  5. I was at that show...by accident. Lucky. No show on campus would be more historic than this one. I can't seem to locate video anymore on youtube. I could have swore I watched it before??? Damn you and your lawyers Courtney! Here are some photos at the end of this odd video. If I recall, clips of this show are in the new film. On a related subject, there is a new book released today The Untold Story, that has a few of Courtney's crazy actions revealed. PS LOVE the Derek Hess poster Keener!
  6. Yesterday's practice included a heavy dose of Jawon. Jawon carried the ball 10 times in practice, here's every carry. • Taking the ball from Landry Jones, got piled up at the line of scrimmage• It happened again on the next play• Ran right off the tackle for 20 yards• Cut off to the right for about five yards• Ran for three yards to the left• Five yards up the middle• Arthur Moats nailed him in the backfield for a five-yard loss• Tackled in the backfield• Ran off-tackle to the left in the red zone, cut back and had the whistle blown as he found open space• Got tackled by Anthony Chickillo in the backfield He also caught kickoffs in the non-contact kickoff portion of practice. Source: Jacob Klingler of PennLive "If there is one NFL camp you should visit, it's this one." —Peter King Maybe he will see some action Sunday night in Canton during the Hall of Fame game.
  7. If anyone wants to go out to give Jawon some support, you could pick a lot worse things to do on a summer day with the kids. Camp is very kid friendly. Short trip from Akron. Chances of speaking with him after practice would be pretty good from my experience. Stand further down the hill, away from the steps (bunch of autograph seekers).
  8. Steelers sign Jawon Chisholm. Just a reminder from Jawon at his Pro Day how far the Zips have come with coach Bowden. Jawon on Twitter @beenlikethis
  9. A local t-shirt company has put this out. Hope they sell two.
  10. That was Terry Puto's job for Mount Union when he worked at the BJ. Why not someone for the Akron, since it's an Akron paper and all? All for one.
  11. I can't get enough. He needs his own segment on the coaches show. From the little I have seen, I love his personality. This is the most marketable football player since Charlie IMO. Someone get LBJ to do a back to back photo shoot with Cody...From The City.
  12. Former MAC superstar Julian Edelman texts Tom about that little move.
  13. Kind of misses playing for the Zips
  14. Sort of similar story to one of the Zips own. After just three weeks, Adrian Coxson left Florida — the school, the team and the NFL dream — to go home to Maryland and help take care of my father (who become blind). I wouldn’t even say it was a tough decision. It was the only decision. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Forsythe has two eyes tattooed on his chest to represent his father, Patrick, who since high school has been battling a degenerative eye condition that has gradually taken his sight. His father's worsening eye sight is one of the main reasons why Forsythe elected to transfer from West Virginia University to The University of Akron three years ago. More on Adrian (including small Joe Haden reference)
  15. If they do, you won't be the first in history to underestimate the importance of a quality QB making those other "pieces" look "good." According to CBS sports, the Zips will play against two of the top 9 QB NFL prospects this year.
  16. UMass's Blake Frohnapfel is the best QB you've never heard of He is Blake Frohnapfel from the University of Massachusetts, arguably the most promising yet least known quarterback in FBS. But that is likely to change this fall as he plays his final season at UMass.
  17. The Zips Shawn Lemon has been waived, a victim of an Achilles injury he sustained before training camp even began.
  18. Here is the article you refer to...."Quick hits, receiver Mykel Traylor-Bennett will likely miss the season after having hand surgery, Bowden said. Something must of recently happened. He seemed fine for the spring game in April. I would like to know more. Another interesting quote from the same article: … Known for bringing in transfers during the fall camp, Bowden said there was nothing on the horizon for his team." PS I love Cody Grice. (see Keener's video above) He seems like he has a good time with his life. He seems proud to have grown up in the city and play for his city. With his talent and attitude, I would market that. Good listen.
  19. Cody Grice, he has his eye on one MAC team in particular. "I want OU, and I mean that,'' he said of the Bobcats. "It seems like every year that's always the game where we go through our slump. I have no problems with anybody on their team, nothing like that, but I want OU." Source
  20. From Hollywoodzippy's above link, here is the list of applicants for Akron University Athletic Director: George Van Horne Rick Hartzell Thomas Buning George Nelson Daniel Riemenschneider (this link is only a guess) Tony Hernandez Dean Stork James Morgenstern Martin Bodnar Daron Montgomery Predrag Savovic Kenneth Hoffman Allan Jones Justine Kozlevcar Joseph Manhertz Ramone Petite Troy Dell Renee Scholze Gabor Smith Jason Sanders David Thurkill I can't find half of the people on the list with the information provided. Feel free to expand. Good to see George's name on the list, can't say I'm impressed with the overall quality of this list (with the little info given). Hopefully we get some more info.
  21. New, buried in the league's statement was confirmation that Brady destroyed his cellphone on the same day he met with investigator Ted Wells.
  22. Possibly it could be a little of our "own." I think it would be safe to say the playbook is not set until they get into camp and start seeing exactly what works for this team.
  23. Don't study Paul Johnson too much.
