Draft analyst Chad Reuter lists Zips opponents Shepard and Striker in his top senior prospects for next year. Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma: Shepherd (5-10, 191) wears the same jersey number (No. 3) as his late father, who lettered for the Sooners as a receiver in the 1980s. Despite his slight frame, Shepherd's toughness and explosiveness in the middle of the field make him the sort of in-space player NFL coaches appreciate. He could be next year's Phillip Dorsett. Eric Striker, OLB, Oklahoma: Each year there is a highly productive but undersized linebacker prospect in the draft, and the question is always the same -- "Is he too small?" A team will find room for Striker (6-0, 223) because of the explosiveness to the ball, though it won't be as easy timing the snap count to reach the backfield (17.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks in 2014) in the NFL and he'll need to prove he can stand up against Sunday-caliber offensive linemen against the run to make it into the first round.

Name stays the same according to President Scarborough. But university president Scott Scarborough sent an email to the campus community Monday afternoon saying the name will remain the same. He said misinformation fueled rumors about the name-change idea, leading to petitions and other opposition from people who don’t like it.

MAC coordinator of officials J.D. Collins was named National Coordinator of Men's basketball officials . The popular Collins will step down from his MAC position by the end of the month. In his new job, he will provide national leadership for officials, as well as regional advisers, conference coordinators and coaches, to increase consistency with the enforcement of NCAA playing rules. "I am humbled and honored to be selected to fill this position," Collins said in a release from the NCAA. "Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with and being trained by some of the best officials, coordinators and leaders in the sport. That experience has prepared me for this exciting opportunity.... Rabid MAC college basketball fans' first line of attack for just about every loss has invariably been, "MAC Officiating." Now it can extend around the country. ...The next order of off-season college basketball business will be the upcoming rules committee meeting next week, where the MAC will have a strong voice in Akron coach Keith Dambrot.

Only four MAC players were drafted this weekend. Weak year. Miami's Quinten Rollins to GB Buffalo's Kristjan Sokoloji to Sea CMU's Leterrius Walton to Pitt NIU's Da'Ron Brown to KC The Hawks plan to move Kristjan from defense to offense (center). Sixth-round choice Kristjan Sokoli was a defensive tackle at Buffalo, but last week Seahawks offensive-line coach Tom Cable worked him out to be a center. Cable was encouraged enough to not only draft him but put him at center in Friday’s rookie minicamp. Max Unger had played there for a half-dozen years until his trade to New Orleans for tight end Jimmy Graham — the guy whom the Seahawks kept reminding all weekend was essentially their traded first-round pick.

Quentin ends up going number sixty-two to GB. Rollins (5-11, 195) was the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year in his lone season on the gridiron, which is certainly a good start as he tries to transition to the NFL game. The question now is how much the Packers can reasonably expect in his first pro season with so little football foundation.

What's the saying? People that create their own drama, deserve their own karma.

The principle is not comparable. If there were parity in college basketball as in the NFL, there would be no need to wish for a higher level of competition in our league. Divisional games in the NFL are always more entertaining, harder hitting, and meaningful regardless. Wouldn't it be neat (for Zip/Mac fans) to have the lower teams in college basketball get to select the top high school athletes, just as the crummy teams in the NFL are rewarded with top picks year after year?

I hope he runs the same type of offense that Jim Larrañaga runs. That was fun to watch. Maybe I should write, good luck recruiting and getting talent in the Mac. First things first.

Pohl looked like the best QB in the Spring game. Nobody looked like they were threatening his starting job to me. Like UA87 said, things could change in the fall, but it would surprise me judging from this spring. I think the "one read" offense benefits KP16.

Good move Buffalo, but I hope he changes his mind and stays at UB. Seems possible. Evans said a return to UB remains a possibility. "I haven't ruled it out, not at all," he said. Evans still has three weeks of classes remaining in the spring semester. He was not sure of a timetable in making a decision. "I've got to take some visits," he said. "I've got to talk it over with my family. I want to talk to my high school coach and make a good decision for myself."

That sucks! I liked his game. Blocking him from going anywhere outside of the MAC is low class.

Pretrial date set for May 1. Former Oklahoma State football and track star Tyreek Hill's pretrial date was set for May 1, Judge Stephen Kistler said in a courtroom at Payne County District Courthouse on Friday afternoon. Hill entered a plea of not guilty on felony charges of domestic assault and battery by strangulation. Hill does not have to appear at his pretrial on May 1 because he currently lives in Georgia with his grandparents. The pretrial will be used to determine whether a trial will be held at an unspecified time in June. Ramsey also said Hill has to appear on June 19 for a separate court date.

I guess I should have included post, like Janoris, talent level is probably the answer. I'm not real concerned about a "PR nightmare," we are lucky to have someone be interested in the team let alone the players that are on the team. Was Tree considered a PR nightmare? I really don't think the bb program suffered any tangible consequences (other than a talent loss on the court). If Hill ended up getting booted from the team...bah, who really notices? If he rushes for 1,000+ and takes us to a bowl game, I would guess a few more notice. Risk and reward. AA on the bball team would be another supporting example.

Good news!

Okay. Coach has a history of success at the highest level in a similar situation. Coach gave Janoris Jenkins another chance at Northern Alabama after being arrested three times in a 23 month span, and getting kicked out of Florida. Janoris kept his nose clean in Alabama, and now plays on Sundays for the Rams. No two cases are completely alike, but I would guess with NFL aspirations, Tyreek was influenced by the success of Janoris with coach. Here is to hoping Tyreek keeps his nose clean, and follows a similar path. PS Hill should be pretty familiar with our first opponent's stadium.
