Pretrial date set for May 1. Former Oklahoma State football and track star Tyreek Hill's pretrial date was set for May 1, Judge Stephen Kistler said in a courtroom at Payne County District Courthouse on Friday afternoon. Hill entered a plea of not guilty on felony charges of domestic assault and battery by strangulation. Hill does not have to appear at his pretrial on May 1 because he currently lives in Georgia with his grandparents. The pretrial will be used to determine whether a trial will be held at an unspecified time in June. Ramsey also said Hill has to appear on June 19 for a separate court date.

I guess I should have included post, like Janoris, talent level is probably the answer. I'm not real concerned about a "PR nightmare," we are lucky to have someone be interested in the team let alone the players that are on the team. Was Tree considered a PR nightmare? I really don't think the bb program suffered any tangible consequences (other than a talent loss on the court). If Hill ended up getting booted from the team...bah, who really notices? If he rushes for 1,000+ and takes us to a bowl game, I would guess a few more notice. Risk and reward. AA on the bball team would be another supporting example.

Okay. Coach has a history of success at the highest level in a similar situation. Coach gave Janoris Jenkins another chance at Northern Alabama after being arrested three times in a 23 month span, and getting kicked out of Florida. Janoris kept his nose clean in Alabama, and now plays on Sundays for the Rams. No two cases are completely alike, but I would guess with NFL aspirations, Tyreek was influenced by the success of Janoris with coach. Here is to hoping Tyreek keeps his nose clean, and follows a similar path. PS Hill should be pretty familiar with our first opponent's stadium.

Hell the coach I root for used to be looked down upon at a time in his career. I do agree, and wish we could have seen what Hurley did at Buffalo for a larger time sample. The interest and comments in this thread alone tell you all you need to know about why he was good for the MAC. We need to get back to a higher level of student athlete in the MAC. Maybe some day Hurley will be back in the MAC. Wouldn't it be ironic if it were at Akron?

Proven? MAC HOF BR7 is 17-2 all time against the Browns. Is there another QB that has ever dominated a team the way he has? I've always said you have to be some kind of fan to root for the Browns AND the Zips. I'm lucky not to be in that boat. I agree. IF, and this is a big if, we had cool logos and uniforms, AND we could actually purchase like appeal to support our team we love, I would be more engaged. But since that isn't the case, I'm with you. I actually dislike about every teams apparel that I root for. My wife just bought me a new shirt from here that I kind of like. I wish they did Akron stuff. Keener might like this one.
