  1. If he is an NBA-type talent. Good for the MAC. The league could use three or four more. Here's to one landing in Akron! With all of our 20 win seasons, it should be happening soon!?!?
  2. Zippy5 mentioned this in another thread, but I thought it was worth it's own thread since so many people have DirecTV, and so many Zips games are now on ESPN3. Source. I'm guessing for those of us that have been using a time warner login, we won't get blacked out using a dtv login now when a game is on time warner. Accessing your favorite live sports and shows from ESPN is now easier than ever with WatchESPN. WatchESPN brings you 24/7 live programming from your favorite ESPN networks on your computer, smart phone, tablet, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. 3. Six and a half point favorite tonight. Northern Illinois is the only MAC team that the Zips have not played in the conference tournament prior to tonight's meeting. Akron is still 17-0 this season when leading with 5:00 to go in a game. Two of Akron's three MAC Tournament Championships have come without receiving a bye (No. 5 seed, 2009; No. 6 seed, 2011). With a win, Akron will advance to the second round of the MAC Tournament and would face the winner of the Ohio at Western Michigan contest on Wednesday, March 11. Tip off would be 30 minutes following the first game of the first game (approximately 9 p.m. ET). More at go zips dot com.
  4. I worry about how many threes we will have to make to win. The Zips have become very one dimensional. Fouls + Three point attempts = 2015 Zips.
  5. Good game, thanks to 21 and 55 bailing us out on nine three pointers. I saw some good things last night. When Antino learns how to take advantage of his talents, he will be a solid future contributor for this team. He has nice potential, but is raw right now. I hope he progresses each year. I think for the first time I saw 23's potential. He put in a good night in a big game. He needs to take conditioning VERY serious in the off season. Go work out with the football players. Study nutrition. Put someone with him 16 hours a day if you can. I'm not close enough to the situation to know exactly what it calls for, but the potential is there for him to be special in the MAC, but he has a LOT of work to do. Whatever the staff is trying right now, change it, it can be worth it. Whatever the "pro's" are to 23 guarding beyond the three point line, I believe the "cons" outweigh the effort. Once he figures out conditioning, he will need to work on defense along with his offensive progression. The Zips are not as good as they think they are on defense. We still miss the fundamental of moving our feet and getting in position. We are consistantly out of position with the lower body. Whatever is happening in practice on defense, I wish we would take an entire new philosophy into the offseason. What is taught in practice is resulting in the same thing year after year, fouls. If I played KD, my last play would always be to drive right into the teeth of the Zips defense, they will either be late, or foul you. I like those options as a competitor. As many here have wrote, the students showed a nice atmosphere on tv. Is a game at Ken+ the only time you have to go into your tv's menu and adjust the color? That yellow is worse than the Browns orange. What is with the announcer calling KD, DUMB-brat? Of all the names to mispronounce, you pick the one that has been on the team for a decade? I laughed in the beginning of the game when he said Peters with the drive, Peters with the three, foul by Peters. Reminded me of Bugs Bunny. Dude made some good points throughout the game, but seriously, did he even look at any piece of paper before rolling into Portage county? I loved coach Peters name on the jerseys, nice touch. I would have had the Zips get back on defense to get set on the last play, but I'm pretty sure I know what would have happened. I don't have a big issue with what they did. In both situations, you still have to execute, and they could have made a stop given both scenarios. Eight man rotation looked nice. A few seemed to get in a nice flow. One possession from pulling off a pretty big upset. Jackson in the first half, Brewer in the second half. EA of the PD
  6. Ken+ is 329 in the nation. The Zips are 303. Tree still knows what's up.
  7. #TeamVirginia
  8. Stay away from rivalry games. As bad as it looks for the Zips, highly emotional games can provide unpredictable results.
  9. Without Pat and Noah, I'm not sure it will matter if he plays 36 minutes on this team. He's just going to have one backup? Better have a lot of O2 on hand. Do they make a bluetooth mask?
  10. If someone cares about attendance, they better hope for OU.
  11. I know exactly how I'm going to celebrate this milestone.
  12. It's Raining Threes! ☔️
  13. Being there, I can't see how your scenario would have been any more "fun." The real scenario was fun, and unbelievably memorable. One of the things I enjoy about sports, is that you never know when your going to watch a "historic" game. Most games are pretty normal, but once in awhile you get Leftwhich carried down the field, or a wagon wheel game in a snow storm that sends your team to a conference championship game. Fans are still discussing a decade later. It was also highlighted on SportsCenter because of the extreme weather conditions. You can watch 100 more college football games, and not see a game played like that one.
  14. Zips favored by three. The RedHawks are 9-7 at home, 4-4 against MAC opponents. Three players are scoring in double figures, including Eric Washington (14.7 ppg), Geovonie McKnight (10.9 ppg) and Will Sullivan (10.5 ppg). Sullivan is the team's leading rebounder (4.6 rpg).A victory would snap a two-game losing streak for the Zips against the RedHawks. Akron is 17-0 this season when leading with 5:00 to go in a game. An Akron win would keep the Zips in the running for one of the top four seeds in next week's MAC Tournament. More at Go Zips dot com.
  15. I wish I was getting the paycheck to do the name "study", or the redesign on the Browns logo.
  16. I'll wait until after the spring game to guess at a few early games. It's impossible for me to make any kind of educated guess at this juncture. I've never been a fan of guessing an outcome of a game in October/November/December before the season starts, unless you can tell me all the starting lineups, what team beat what team earlier, and injury lists. I have to see both teams play, to have any kind of opinion. I'm no Phil Steele. If I have to guess now, I'll second LZip, and say we go undefeated. But I really don't think we will get into the College Football Playoff for the National Championship.
  17. Boykins was very entertaining and talented, I don't think I missed a game of his at the JAR. He made freakish moves on the floor that defied his size. There was no defense for his antics at times. Being a Akron alumnus, he drove me nuts, but I eventually became a fan. Sports Illustrated did a spread on him once which included this photo. His senior year, he beat Duke in the NCAA tournament, and was second in the nation in scoring. If Antino can develop half of Boykins talent, he will do very well in today's MAC. Boykin's cheated at EMU though, he played 35+ minutes a game. I don't know how it happens, but I would love to play in a league again that has NBA talent like Boykins, Szczerbiak, Trent, Daniels and Wells. It's also reported that Boykins benched 315, can Antino? Oh, and btw, Earl is from Cleveland (Central Catholic). He is currently a head coach at a Colorado high school. Here's a cool image when Earl played in the NBA. Check out his feet.
  18. Yes I do, I think there were hundreds there. I remember the last two guys in the tailgate lot too. I wish I had a 14 mm lens and took a bunch of photos that day. I could have had some dramatic images for the ages. This shot was taken during the game.
  19. Dri at the Portage County game.
  20. Tressel U™, with a huuuuuge statue for his flock.
  21. He is in the right spot on the floor most of the time, so he puts his teammates in opportunistic offensive situations. I hope he can stay healthy. The more DI4, the better the Zips chances of advancing in the mac tournament. I just wish we had two more that worked on offense the way he does.
  22. Didn't write that I would use that song, because I wouldn't. I would have to storyboard it to figure out which song would be appropriate, but more than likely it would be something that charted from them.
  23. EA writes about KD in the PD "We've had trouble closing games, for whatever reason," Dambrot said after the Zips played well at Buffalo, only to lose in the final minutes. The same thing has happened with others this week alone, including the Rockets and Ken+, both with critical setbacks coming down the stretch.
