  1. Better get a shirt, now that it's trademarked.
  2. NIU's D impressed me when we played them, Ken+'s did not. Easy money IMO. I hope we can stop a run up the middle next season the way NIU did, and put pressure on the QB. That defense would have got us 4 or 5 more wins this year. Get busy Chuck!
  3. Watched the Ken+ game at Flipside Burger in Hudson last night. Highly recommended. Good burger choices, good onion rings. Nice tap selection. Nice TVs and viewing. Good service. They do not take reservations and the wait (Fri night) was an hour. Nice thing is they take your cell phone number and you can find something to do in the square while you wait for them to call. Margaritas across the street are a good option. Worth the wait IMO. KGB still better though. Two other burger fans disagreed, and liked Flipside better. This guys review is more extensive than mine.
  4. …and it starts. Now, the NCAA has added to the fire by giving Georgia Tech a waiver to play in a bowl game, even if Tech has a 6-7 record after losing to Florida State in Saturday's ACC Championship. Georgia Tech is 6-6 and won the ACC's Coastal Division. The NCAA had previously ruled that a team must have a .500 record or better to qualify for a bowl. The NCAA's waiver may mean that a 6-7 Georgia Tech team is invited to a bowl and a MAC team with a 6-6 record - or even an 8-4 or 9-3 record - could be passed over.
  5. PW sees one of his boys make it to the NFL...sort of. The Steelers added three players their practice squad today: Offensive tackle Joe Long of Wayne State, offensive guard Justin Cheadle of California and wide receiver Bert Reed of Florida State. source
  6. RECRUITING TRAIL: The Zips have six oral commitments, but remain in the hunt for several talented three and four-star players. I said it last year, how can you lack so much ability at QB when you just have to get the ball near Suel for him to catch it. I hope he gets a shot in somebody's camp next summer. PRO PROSPECTS: WR Marquelo Suel -- He has good speed, but lacking in height at 6-foot-1. Suel was a productive player with a one-win team, leading the Zips in receptions and receiving yards. His numbers merit attention alone.
  7. I think most people understood that.
  8. I bet Ken+ gets some bad calls (early holds) in this game.
  9. For me, yes.
  10. Feel free to make predictions below. MORE THAN JUST A MAC TITLE? The MAC Championship will be decided Friday night at Ford Field as the No. 21 Northern Illinois Huskies take on the No. 17 Can't State Golden Flashes. Records: Northern Illinois 11-1 (8-0 in MAC), Can't State 11-1 (8-0) Kick-off: 7 p.m. EST Television: ESPN Spread: Northern Illinois by 5 Last meeting: Northern Illinois 40, Can't State 10 (2012) Passing: The Huskies are averaging 237.6 yards per game while Can't State is averaging 160.7. Rushing: Northern Illinois averages 245 yards per outing while the Golden Flashes are averaging 241.5 yards per outing. Points per game: The Huskies are putting up 40.5 points per outing while Can't State is averaging 34.4 per game. Points against per game: Northern Illinois is giving up 17.5 points per game while the Golden Flashes are giving up 23.5 points per contest Using the Zips as the common denominator, NIU put up 100 more yards of offense on us, and gave up 150 less yards than Ken+ did.
  11. Two other Pitt redshirt freshmen, linebacker Jason Frimpong of Irving, Texas, and defensive back Roderick Ryles of Orlando, Fla., have left the team and been given permission to transfer. Neither played this season, but Frimpong was competing for a starting job at outside linebacker in training camp. All three players were part of the former coach Todd Graham's 2011 recruiting class. Eight players from that 21-man class have left the team or been dismissed
  12. Peter King's top five college coaching candidates for NFL head coaching jobs, per chats with front office people in the last two weeks (in order): 1. Chip Kelly, Oregon 2. David Shaw, Stanford 3. Brian Kelly, Notre Dame 4. Kirk Ferentz, Iowa (even coming off the bad season at Iowa, he's well-respected in the NFL) 5. Doug Marrone, Syracuse. Didn't include Bill O'Brien of PSUe because I can't see him preaching love of, and loyalty to, PSU, and then leaving after 12 months.
  13. Another big day for the rookie. His 39- and 36-yard interception returns for touchdown made him the first rookie to return two picks for scores in 52 years, and made coach Jeff Fisher a genius for benching him two weeks ago at San Francisco for violating team rules and having to run the stadium stairs before the game at Candlestick Park. Watch how he baited quarterback Ryan Lindley of the Cardinals, especially on the first pick-6, and you'll see why the Rams took a chance on the troubled college star in the second round of the draft. cut and paste from MMQB
  14. Year after year Zips basketball shuts me out in December by scheduling games on Sundays during NFL games. Poor decision IMO.
  15. Jalil Carter's team beats him though.
  16. A guy that is on Akron's payroll "celebrating" in the enemy's colors makes me sick. Florida should have a celebration next year and brings back Urban Meyer. I hope he dresses in orange and blue head to toe.
  17. I saw "Mr Zip" on national TV yesterday. Missed marketing opportunity by James. Throw us a bone buddy.
  18. Is it really necessary to personally attack and curse on a thread entitled "thanksgiving?"
  19. Thanksgiving day 2005, most significant thanksgiving in Zips history.
  20. I would be upset to play a home game anywhere other than the Info.
  21. The same way Akron gets players.
  22. No problem, it, easy (see this link). PS Even though 8 tracks are before my time, I owned one, Pink Floyd Animals. I like to see that bands are still releasing vinyl.
  23. Here is some explanation for the younger ZN audience: Basketball Jones is a song by Cheech and Chong that first appeared on the 1973 album Los Cochinos. Sung in falsetto by Cheech Marin, playing the title character Tyrone Shoelaces, it told the story of Shoelaces' love of basketball. It was a parody of the song "Love Jones" by Brighter Side of Darkness. In the album version, the song was preceded by a mock interview with Jones' basketball coach named "Umgwana Kickbooti," in a parody of a Wide World of Sports interview conducted by a character named "Red Blazer". "Jones", both in the original song and this parody, is slang for "craving" or "addiction". Musicians who appeared on the record included George Harrison, Carole King, Billy Preston, and Tom Scott. The Blossoms and Michelle Phillips (from The Mamas & the Papas) performed vocals as cheerleaders on the track. The song was released as a single in September 1973 and reached #15 in the US charts. It was backed with "Don't Bug Me", also from Los Cochinos. To coincide with the graffiti artwork from the album's cover, both sides of the single feature the Ode label covered with graffiti.
  24. Speaking with TB before the season started, the one "stat" (phase of the game) he was most concerned about was his defense creating turnovers.
  25. I saw the same thing. I agree...thanks DW13.
