  1. Janoris probably deserves his own thread. ZN started talking about him here in another thread. Complete article found here During his three seasons at Division II North Alabama, new University of Akron coach Terry Bowden worked his contacts in the upper echelon of college football to bring in one or two transfers every year. But when cornerback Janoris Jenkins was kicked off the team at the University of Florida, Bowden wasn't exactly waiting with open arms. One of the most talented but polarizing prospects in the April 26-28 NFL Draft, Jenkins had been arrested three times. He was Tasered during a June 2009 street fight outside a bar, then caught smoking marijuana twice in a period of three months in 2011. New Florida coach Will Muschamp made an example of Jenkins and booted him even though he had been the second Gator to start at cornerback as a freshman, following the Browns' Joe Haden. Bowden said he didn't find out until last week that Jenkins also has four children ranging in age from 3 years to 3 months, reportedly by three different women. But Bowden knew enough to realize Jenkins was an NFL first-round talent with very few options. --------------------------------------------------------- Bowden, who does exhaustive background checks on all players accepted to his D-II school, didn't find out until Jenkins told the world during a Combine interview last week. "He has a girlfriend; I’ve had to call him at her house plenty of times," Bowden said. "He never told me any of that stuff." This is the one red flag on Jenkins' off-field history that may scare off the most NFL teams. The fact that Jenkins kept it from Bowden begs the question of whether he's given NFL officials full disclosure during pre-draft interviews. Source: Rotoworld
  2. I hate the stack, but I think BW will do well in it. Good luck to him! I'll watch some games if I can. I've never had a second favorite team since PSU joined the little ten.
  3. I forgot to add the top two quotes from ESPN2 commentator Friday night. Dan Dakich? "I think Justin Greene has a bad case of Marshall-itous" "He mops, he steals, he takes the lead" (referring to AA)
  4. Does KD have a bonus in his contract for winning this "award?"
  5. PLEASE give me Columbus State (if we can win two more games)! We would have EVERYTHING to gain from that game. No game would get the Zips more emotionally aggressive. The Rowdies can dress up like JT in Akron vests.
  6. We are the number 1 seed and we only have to win TWO games...no excuses! No ref is going to screw the Zips, no draw is going to screw the Zips, good coaching and good defense are going to win the tournament this year for the Zips.
  7. I agree. When KD speaks of him, he talks of NBA. I hope the staff helps him with his college game. Lumberjack, I think I spotted you multiple times on tv last night, along with another ZN member (Jets fan).
  8. Nope, not you. Somebody that loves to look things up can go back and look if they like.
  9. I seem to remember somebody attending practices in August and predicting sweet 16!?!
  10. Well written
  11. Mentioned here this morning.
  12. Congrats! Make it mean something by stepping it up in practice this week, and put together 4 or 5 more wins in a row!
  13. I like the move when KD put Zeke back in with three fouls, but left Tree in and let Tree guard Justin Greene.
  14. Agreed. Wonder if Walsh has an egg on the back of his head this morning? I'll be happy to see Porrini graduate. If I were Ken+, I would run a lot more of my offense through that dude. If there was an award for "Use of Body w/ the Ball", I would give it to him. Just for fun: Go on Porrini's bio page on Ken+'s site, read the question that he answered "Between the legs lay-up." Classic Ken+.
  15. I love the pass from Alex to Zeke in the paint followed by the DUNK and foul. When he made the free throw I thought, THAT is the 3 point assassin I envisioned when Zeke signed. That play should be run ten times a game.
  16. How can any Zips fan that has payed attention this season be surprised by a less than stellar first half followed by stellar second half?
  17. Good rotation second half.
  18. Who is your internet service provider? Run this and report your results.
  19. I get your point.
  20. This year, I'll take an NIT Championship. Odds of that this year 1:500. We would have to beat 5 quality teams in a row. I would be at MSG for that! Odds making it to the NCAA tournament are about 1:8. We have to beat two MAC teams. What would be the better accomplishment with a young team?
  21. So your confident in the staff & players in the NCAA as a 14 seed?

  23. JJ gets SI's Don Banks "In All Honesty Award" Rarely have I seen a combine prospect enter the media work room and open a vein for reporters quite like Jenkins did Sunday afternoon in his 10-minute interview session. I'll say this, Jenkins is no Ryan Mallett, the Arkansas quarterback who took the stage in the 2011 combine and defiantly refused to shed any light on the rumors of collegiate drug use in his background. Jenkins turned the spotlight on his own behavior and filled in all the blanks. In detail. If the first step toward overcoming mistakes is acknowledging them, Jenkins is well on his way. Jenkins, the ex-Gators star, talked about his three arrests, two of them for marijuana possession. He talked about his bar fight arrest. His failed drug test at Florida. Being kicked off the team by new Gators head coach Will Muschamp last spring and winding up at Division II North Alabama. And his four children, all age 3 and under. It was a remarkably revealing Q&A, and he struck just the right tone of remorse and responsibility throughout. No Vontaze Burfict, he. On Tuesday, Jenkins went out and dazzled the scouts on the field, running a blazing 4.46 in the 40, broad-jumping 10-1 and looking smooth and athletic in all the defensive back drills. He's a first-round talent, and he may have earned himself a fresh look from a handful of wary teams with his stellar combine performance. Charlotte Observer writes JJ was a WINNER in workouts
  24. Nice article. I agree, the Zips are playing "lazy" D as of late. Not the entire team, but most. I suspect the defensive energy will be high AT HOME tonight. Rock the JAR!
