  1. Former Zip Dalton Easton is in that photo too..
  2. Yeah I feel like I logged on tonight just to get my hopes up.
  3. I don't remember Hilltopper saying it, but I know Zach did. I'm curious for the reasoning as well, though. Did he recruit Cooper at OU (or anyone worth noting)? Really don't recall that far back.
  4. I'm confused as to why Indiana people are concerned with Groce/our coaching search.
  5. @UAZip0510 Has stated he will not be coming here and I have to take his word for it as he seems in the know. Multiple reports are saying Paris is close to taking the job at UT-Chatanooga.
  6. So back on the topic of our coaching search, appears Boals and Paris are out. I think most on here would have been satisfied with either of them. I haven't read anything yet about who we are targeting that I would consider reputable. Let's get it moving, Larry.
  7. I took note of the comment as well. Best big man? That has to be Poke (even though it isn't saying a lot). I would call Hughes the big man with the most potential to develop into a well rounded player, however.
  8. What has been eating at me (and if I'm being a sissy, somebody please tell me) is that he basically hasn't never even said bye. All of the players leaving have written their farewell letters to Zipsnation, but not a peep from Dambrot. It's like Akron never gave him his second chance or wasn't a big part of his life at all.
  9. Some real Sanders-esque socialist logic you are spelling out there, skip. Always pictured you as leaning right.
  10. They beat us last season at BG
  11. Skip, can you provide a link to OSU's financials?
  12. Crazy that just a few days ago we had an over abundance of guards and now its by far our biggest need. Would be nice to see our new coach come in and beat out KD for Patton.
  13. I'm not understanding. We know about Williams and I personally don't care about Dalton. Are you saying that KD recruited TDM to transfer before taking the job and Tino was planning on leaving before KD left?!
  14. Get the young guys as much experience as possible next season and go from there. JUCOs are a necessity at this point. We have 4 guys confirmed transferring, two of them PGs, and the last PG could still do it as well. 6 players from last season are gone as of right now. This sucks. I always hate seeing people wish these players luck. You're either with us or against us.
  15. ugh.
  16. I like that somebody is calling it out, but the article just isn't factual. We beat P5 teams Miss St, USC, USCe, and Arkansas in the regular season since I've been following. Edit: add Oregon State and Penn State as well.
  17. Anyone else know that Geno Ford is on Boals' coaching staff? Along with Brian Weber (Akron) and Andrew Goldstein (OSU). A lot of Ohio ties there....
  18. It's easily justifiable if it is determined to be a net gain. I don't see how its really debatable. Cheaping out and spending 250k on a coach who sucks and in turn losing 300k in season ticket holder revenue/donations/general admin sales/vendors/etc is not justifiable.
  19. Hopefully Larry has some more sense than TW and makes the new coach's buyout to leave something more than chump change. The search firm we are paying along with other time/resources used probably easily surpasses the amount we received from KD's buyout.
  20. Saying that sports results at Akron have never attracted a single student or benefactor is unsubstantiated and flat out wrong. I'm sure all of those large spikes in donations and applications/enrollment for those schools were just coincidences
  21. I did not say to cut Women's basketball. I said cuts should start on the women's basketball side. To be more specific Jodi Kest's run seems to be over. They've had a few down seasons now, including a very bad one last year and the future does not look bright. The sport produces essentially no revenue yet has similar expenses (give or take a few hundred thousand due to coaching salaries) to the men's basketball team. Jodi is paid somewhere north of 320k. In my quick 10 minutes of research, that seems to be close to twice the amount of the average MAC women's coaches salary. As for you calling bullshit about good sports teams attracting students, donors, etc., I will simply leave this. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/03/a-cinderella-story-how-universities-benefit-from-being-an-ncaa-tournament-underdog
  22. It should be able to get you a lot, actually. Paying a coach 250k and him not performing vs paying a coach 600k and him being at Keith's level or above can have much more than a net 350k impact. I am guessing anyways. I said it before and I'll say it again. I believe cuts should start on the Women's basketball side, and that probably won't happen until after this season.
