  1. I know this is late, and it may have been posted already, but wanted to share a nice read by Marla after the Ohio win. http://www.ohio.com/sports/ridenour/marla-ridenour-as-dazzling-10-minutes-show-special-march-could-be-in-store-if-zips-keep-improving-1.741055
  2. Here is a link to Ohio.com contacts if anyone feels like complaining. I usually enjoy Marla and Beaven's articles when they right about the Zips occasionally, though they have plenty of other commitments. I, and I believe some others, enjoyed Brad Bournival's articles when he did some freelancing for ABJ earlier in the season. http://www.ohio.com/about/2.994
  3. My guess as well. Tremendous upside, yet was still productive considering how raw he is and spotty QB play/offense the past 2 seasons. I don't see how someone won't take a shot on developing him. Something else I saw. 103 underclassman declared for the draft this year. 2nd most ever.
  4. Just to put the whole underclassman declaring early thing in perspective... It seems they are getting better advice as time goes on, but still about 30% of them go undrafted.
  5. Glad to see the Zips proved me wrong and came through! Did not get to see the game though. Don't the CBSSports games usually get posted in full on Youtube?
  6. Thats the unfortunate part about the giveaways. Give them away pregame and people grab and leave. Give them away at halftime and people bitch about crowds, etc. Atleast the U got some revenue assuming most of them weren't students.
  7. Interesting. I'd expect the "expert" to have it somewhat figured out by the end of the season.
  8. I prefer an opponent and location that is the best matchup for the team rather than whats convenient for me to attend. It's important to note bracketology has absolutely zero meaning right now.
  9. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20170118/NEWS/170119801/university-of-akron-president-sees-a-balanced-budget-on-the-horizon?utm_campaign=socialflow&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social
  10. What is conflicting? I bet a Lebron James or even DeAndre Yedlin bobblehead will make people go who otherwise wouldn't.
  11. And here is Terry's article. I agree with a previous poster, show him some support! He is one of the few Plain Dealer reporters I like to read. http://www.cleveland.com/pluto/index.ssf/2017/01/akron_basketball_team_wins_big.html
  12. This will be a tough one!! Fearful of a let down game following OU. If we can beat these guys...I think I'm a believer about this team being different.
  13. Nobody knows for sure, at least publicly...I think someone on here thought it sounded likely it would be granted. It would be great to have an actual reporter covering the team. I wonder if a student would be interested in interning for Zn.O ?!
  14. People are starting to take notice...
  15. Miami RB looking to grad transfer http://caneswatch.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2017/01/18/gus-edwards-to-transfer-from-miami-hurricanes/ Iowa RB looking to grad transfer https://www.landof10.com/iowa/iowa-rb-derrick-mitchell-jr-leave-hawkeyes-graduate-transfer?utm_campaign=SF_Landof10_Iowa&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social
  16. Having great atmospheres in the past does not change the fact that the JAR is poorly designed and the poor design has a natural negative effect that takes away from the environment.
  17. I agree with kreed. There seemed to be pretty good student attendance. Energy on the other hand is a different story, but I think that goes for the whole crowd. Me and my buddies used to get tanked before hand and sneak it full powerade bottles of vodka! I didn't notice any students besides the lower ones on their feet ever. Obviously its been discussed on here many times but I think the design of the JAR, specifically the students sections being broken apart plays a part. I do give credit to the cheerleaders as I thought they tried to get energy going... I didn't notice the Ozone or whatever OU calls it there either. They usually made the trip I believe.
  18. at least they beat texas
  19. This is somewhat off topic but I'm going to post it anyways.I think Coach Mounds does a great job. He came in after Buckley left for Louisville (and took some recruits with him). Now we're going up against multiple P5 schools with a real chance to land a player. DBs have not been a concern the past few years and do not appear to be a concern anytime soon with the flashes the young talent has shown.
  20. Awesome game. Never gets old beating OU. I hate to make one of those "back in my day" comments, but sheesh that crowd seriously lacked energy. I only graduated a few years ago and the atmosphere seemed much better then for big games, especially against OU. Maybe it was the Cooper effect? BTW, took a quick look at Bobcatattack and they are giving us some props.
  21. Not at all. I'd expect more out of OU fans.
  22. Pretty kind words from a guy who has been here through it all for a "program in shambles" Wish the best for him. Don't know if he will get drafted but he will get a shot somewhere.
  23. FWIW I haven't found anything at all on twitter that says Simmons or Dixon have transferred. I have found Simmons' mom if anyone cares enough to ask lol.
  24. Simmons and Bryce Dixon came from NC State.
  25. Technically was the back up behind Ball but I'm not sure I agree its that ridiculous even though I would like better. There are some talented players in Akron and it is not uncommon at all for freshman to come in and dominate (meaning they too were obviously better than X universities previous starter).
