  1. As an aside, I have to say it makes me a little nuts to see a school like Wright State playing in an arena that looks far superior to our barn.
  2. Nice ball movement by the Zips tonight but they've also been helped by some atrocious defense. How many threes have to be made before you stop leaving guys open on the perimeter. If they adjust, the Zips have to be ready to go to the basket.
  3. Nice perimeter defense by the Raiders. Yikes.
  4. I just have a bad feeling about this one.
  5. Pluto is very good as a book author and was good as an NBA beat reporter. Some of his books are some of my all-time sports favorites. If you haven't read it track down a copy of Loose Balls, his book about the ABA. The PD has now anointed him the grandfather of NEO sports columnists which has him conveying opinion more than fact and that doesn't always suit him.
  6. Let's not forget our own Jonah Morris- Indiana to UA to Northern Colorado. We saw the Salopek kid against Miami. He's a solid contributor down there.
  7. This year is a pretty limited sample size, but comparing to previous seasons: FG%: 2019-20: .459 2020-21: .410 2021-22: .429 3PT%: 2019-20: .223 2020-21: .063 2021-22: .000 FT%: 2019-20: .489 2020-21: .632 2021-22- .714
  8. Welcome to ZipsNation by the way. It's nice to see some new blood.
  9. It's starting to look a little better in warmups. He's not Mark Price, but it has improved a little to the naked eye.
  10. To the credit of the two rows of the students that were there, they were very vocal and into the game. The students seem to be developing a nice core.
  11. Hypocrite Lane Kiffin explaining/whining about the transfer portal. Pretty interesting perspective from a guy who's jumped from one job to the next for a better opportunity/more money. Hypocrite. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/lane-kiffin-on-the-transfer-portal-players-transfer-to-where-theyre-going-to-get-paid-the-most-183610273.html
  12. Agreed. Wright State appears to have some talent and despite now watching the Zips for 9 games I am still not entirely sure what we have in this group.
  13. Maybe we can incorporate the turnover pencil instead of a sword.
  14. Right down below. They are now on the same end as the UA team, towards the northwest corner where the Zips come out. The silly courtside lounge is now where they used to be. They weren't there for this game.
  15. Yesterday's crowd.
  16. No doubt arguing a call that would have made a 13 point difference.
  17. I heard today that after the WVU/Garrettsville Fashion and Animal Husbandry College game someone asked Huggins why he scheduled teams like our Portage County rivals and he responded along the lines that going back to his time with the Zips he always enjoys putting it on the Flushes!
  18. 1529 seems generous.
  19. He's playing the point a little more than I expected. It was interesting to see the brief periods yesterday when he, Clark and X were on the court at the same time. I like the idea of X playing the 2 occasionally and focusing on getting off his shot.
  20. Beacon/Ohio.com article on the game by someone other than GT- https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/zips/2021/12/12/college-mens-basketball-akron-florida-a-m-bryan-trimble-xavier-castaneda-ali-ali-enrique-freeman/8875869002/
  21. 100 free throws at practice for Aziz tomorrow. He was the player for the radio post-game. He's obviously still working on his English. The only thing I am certain of after listening is that he "just wants to help the team." He came across as a genuinely nice kid.
  22. The Zips head to Dayton Wednesday night to face 2-6 Wright State. Wright State's only wins came against Lake Erie and Purdue Fort Wayne. The Raiders (who oddly have a dog looking mascot) were predicted to finish second in the Horizon pre-season poll. 6-6 junior guard Tanner Holden leads scoring at 19.8 ppg. 6-9 redshirt junior forward Basile Grant scores 18.8 ppg while leading the team in rebounds at 9.1 rpg. Basile was selected to the pre-season All-Horizon first team. Last season, he was an All-Horizon League Second Team honoree, averaging 15.0 points on a League-best 61.7 percent shooting, grabbed over seven boards a game and led the HL with 1.63 blocks per contest. The Raiders fell to Marshall by 8 early in the season.
  23. Yikes, was that awful. That's the kind of effort that leads to a double digit loss to a Michigan directional. Glad it is behind us.
  24. I don't think I've seen a guy commit two lane violations while shooting foul shots in the same game, ever. Enrique Freeman wins that distinction
  25. I thought Wynn might make his way in with Walton's departure but I guess not.
