  1. You should have skipped class!
  2. Yes, but that Bowden name is known by every football playing teen in the United States. ?️ This guy gets a vote when he can tell me a Zips game he has watched in the last couple of years.
  3. Much more effort tonight. Some interesting lineups tonight, even some with X and two bigs. I continue to have some hope for Sayles but the kid seems to have little or no feel for the game at times. Moves okay and fairly athletic but every time the ball comes to him it seems like the first time he's seen it. Lots of nice seamless switching on the perimeter tonight. Tribble will be even better when he finds his shot and has some confidence in it. He is aggressive with the ball and strong on defense. I think you'll see him even more when teams pick on LCJ's size.
  4. The 1-2 Penguins come to the JAR Thursday night. They may come in at 2-2 as they play North Carolina Central Tuesday night. They have lost to Louisville and Louisiana (and hope they don't have to play Louisiana State or St. Louis). The following is taken from an article in the YSU website- The Youngstown State men's basketball team was predicted to finish sixth in the Horizon League in a vote by the league's head coaches, athletics communications directors and selected media. Sophomore Darius Quisenberry as also selected to the preseason All-Horizon League Second-Team. Quisenberry, a 2018-19 All-Horizon League Second-Team selection, was the first YSU freshman to earn all-league honors. He scored a YSU Division I freshman record 441 points and led the team in scoring and assists with 120. Quisenberry averaged 13.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He scored in double figures 21 times, had eight 20-point performances and two 30-point games. The Springfield, Ohio, native set the YSU freshman record with 51 3-pointers made. He also ranked 15th in the Horizon League in scoring, seventh in assists per game, eighth with 1.3 steals per game, fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio with 1.8 and 11th in free-throw percentage at 79.7 percent.
  5. Lots of Zips getting on the floor for balls tonight.
  6. 1-3-1 zone from the Zips.
  7. He caught a pass tonight!
  8. Okay, a strong 10 minutes so clarky can get home early!
  9. Good first 5 minutes followed by 10 ugly minutes followed by 5 okay minutes.
  10. Get back to class. Started good. 51% now.
  11. Zips looking a little lost against the zone.
  12. Damnit, letting them back in the game. 23-16, 7:39.
  13. Sayles, X and Riak on floor together.
  14. Offense has cooled down a little. 18-7, 9:25.
  15. Beautiful slam on a lob by X. More than made up for getting a rebound 3feet from the basket and throwing it back out front.
  16. I like this 5- X, Cheese, LCJ, Reece and Banks.
  17. Much more intensity on D tonight.
  18. Lord knows he wouldn't be missing class.
  19. Small crowd. Good start, 7-0.
  20. But George told us these teams have never played before. To quote GT's extensive scouting report- "Series record: First meeting"
  21. I'll be better able to tell which one of us is the less fortunate by 9:30 p.m.
  22. I get the three point shooting thing. It's what the college game has become, on all levels. I just hate how hastily the Zips occasionally default to it and that most penetration seems to be solely geared to kicking out. In reality though, if they were making a reasonable percentage of them I wouldn't be whining about it! Let's hope for a more entertaining game than Friday night's slopfest. Talk about a game killing your early season enthusiasm.
  23. From the UA Athletics website- Scouting the Spartans South Carolina Upstate enters the game with a 1-3 record after dropping two-straight games to N.C. Central (73-64) and Virginia Tech (80-57). The Spartans opened the season with a loss to the College of Charleston (74-55 before winning their home opener 103-62 against Truett-McConnell. Upstate has two players averaging double-digits, led by Everette Hammond with a team-best 13.0 points per game. He is shooting 40.4 percent (19-of-47) from the field and has the team high in trips to the free throw line while making 11of-14 at the charity stripe. He has a team-best three blocked shots with a second best six steals and three assists. Bryson Mozone follows with 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He has buried a team-best nine made 3-pointers (9-of-31) and grabbed a team-high 26 boards. Tommy Bruner and Josh Aldrich add 8.0 and 7.5 points per night, respectively, while Dalvin White has dished-out a team-high 18 assists. Defensively, Upstate allows opponents to score 72.3 points a night on 48.4 percent shooting from the floor and 35.3 percent from 3-point range, permitting 7.5 long distance strikes per night. The Spartans caused 73 turnovers (18.3 to/g) with 30 steals (7.5 stl/g). Upstate is slightly outrebounded the opponent by a -1.7 margin as the opponent grabs 36.0 rebounds per game compared to their 34.3 boards per game.
  24. The only thing they've spoiled this year is a couple of tubs of nachos at Infocision as I got an upset stomach watching them play.
