  1. Wow, they even gave him purple shoes for the pic!
  2. Terrible schedule only because almost every game is away, however I like that they challenge themselves by playing Jackson, Hoover and Dover.
  3. It's a great sign to see them all on campus!
  4. I knew he made a big mistake when he declared. I just can't understand what he could have been thinking.
  5. I say, if we can get him to come here, why not? The higher the competition level at QB, the better chance we have of having a good/great starting QB.
  6. Yes, they completely blew it. Why do you think all the best players left for St V, Hoban, Massillon, etc after youth football? No one wanted to play for Yost and I can name plenty. Now they just promoted one of his assistants. How will that make things better? I agree that they win more than they lose, but they play in the Akron City Series and basically have two to three automatic wins before the season even starts. Then on top of that, the coaching staff almost never puts together a challenging out of conference schedule so they win two out of three of those games each year. What that means is they need to win two other games throughout the season and there is the winning record.
  7. Lol, my daughter is bigger than him and she is in 7th grade. I'm sure he is a great athlete and we'll figure out a great way to use him. Look how exciting Natson was last year.
  8. This hire for Ellet shows you how much they care about becoming a better football program. First off, the softball coach? Secondly, he's been an assistant on the mediocre football team for many years. If they were serious, they would have hired someone completely outside of the "good ole' boy network". This was their chance to finally make a statement and they blew it.
  9. What is preyer? Just asking...couldn't help myself. Mainly because it came from a former Miami "Harvard" Ohio player.
  10. Makes you wonder how long ago KD really made his decision to leave.
  11. Nice mix of players on all the teams. Congratulations Big Dog!!
  12. Has anyone heard this yet? Maybe Groce's first offer? http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/akron
  13. I really hope we get him on board. He is a great recruiter and has excellent connections for sure.
  14. I agree. Lots of good local high school sports information and Zips information.
  15. Did anyone get to listen to the Groce interview on 1350 yesterday? Did any new information come out of it?
  16. I agree. I am most interested to see what Groce can get out of Ivey and Utomi. They are our most athletic players at this point.
  17. What are the chances Groce can convince 1 or more of these top recruits to follow him to Akron? That is something to keep an eye on.
  18. This is what I said back in December after he committed. Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) · Report post I think we got a good one here. Strong arm, nice touch on his passes, athletic and sees the field well finding the open receiver. Based on what I see so far, I would say he is potentially one of the best QB's we've landed in a long time. After watching this most recent workout video, I have not changed my mind!
  19. I looked over their schedule the past 4 years and I liked it. Those are the types of OOC teams I want to see on our upcoming schedules.
  20. I'm just curious as to what everyone else thinks. I kind of liked the old Charlie Coles way of scheduling OOC opponents for Miami. They got beaten up and bruised playing those high level P5 teams and also sacrificed total wins for the season, however they were really prepared for tournament play whether it be MAC Tourney or NCAA Tourney. What would you think of hiring a coach with that type of philosophy?
  21. After thinking about all of this for nearly a day, there is one thing I can't get out of my head and it scares me to death. I do not want to go through all the years of torture again that I experienced when Huggins left Akron and we brought in Coleman Crawford. Those were the worst years of Akron basketball and I never want to experience that again!
  22. I pretty much have the same list of players. The one player I would add for sure is Kurt Mangum, the LB transfer from Washington. He was an absolute stud for the one year we had him. It seemed like he made every tackle that year. Unfortunately Jatavis wasn't developed as a player yet as he was only a Freshman, but imagine the two of them on the field together in their prime.
  23. I voted Nick Johns. I feel like Woodson's injury is one of those things that just lingers and flares up on occasion. Hopefully that isn't the case.
