1350 WARF

Zips Win!

Recommended Posts

Athletics Marketing should of had the commercial pulled and a new on put in place. The new ads should be all about Caleb and the boys and their hunt for a national championship...and basketball.

Memo to 1350 WARF:JD Brookhart is no longer the head football coach at the U of A. He will not be the guest speaker on Zips Live tonight at the Tap House. Please stop running the commercial.

In the distant past, radio stations had a person doing continuity, to make sure commercials were up to date, guess that's a thing of the past. How about that bank commercial that talks about 4 qtrs during basketball season, or that dip that asks his wife if she thinks it's safe to go out amoungst the downed lines?

Please stop making sense......
Hey...it's a step up. Only 3 months ago they were still running promos for The Coleman Crawford Show held at The Armadillo.

Hell, who cares! If you live outside the city limits you can't get 1350 anyway. Here's a thought, if you want to improve your fan base, then stop letting the MAC office take care of your broadcasting needs and let's get a few radio stations to broadcast the zips in NE Ohio!
Well it has been nice that 106.9 now carries football games.

Has anyone heard ZipsLive lately? It is absolutely unlistenable. I had it on for about 10 minutes last week while folding clothes...and that was all I could take. The host precludes every question with a 5-minute introduction of inane diatribe. The coach answers the "softball" question, then another 5 minute diatribe begins. Then they go to the same 3 maddening commercials that we've all heard 8000 times...then it's back to another 5 minute diatribe before the next softball is lobbed. The best part of the show I heard was KD talking about the soccer team. The host asked him a basketball question, and KD freestyled, asking "How about that Zips soccer team?" The host broke into a very mechanical, again long winded, generic overview of the Zips soccer team, then went back to his basketball question. KD then asked the guy "Have you ever been to a Zips soccer match?" The host replied "No," then followed it up with some additional schlocky generic soccer diatribe. KD, sensing the guy was stalling, pressed it further.."I can't believe you've never been to a Zips soccer game?" The host snapped back with something like "CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK TO TALKING BASKETBALL?" :mad_flame: You could see the smoke pouring out the guy's ears through the radio...and that's tough to do.If you can't hear ZipsLive, you aren't missing anything.

One reason I miss Mike Waddell. Used to love going up to Spaghetti Warehouse for a decent dinner and to listen to the show. Mike made it somewhat entertaining and was always courteous and professional to those in attendance (usually just the guest(s) and myself and my girlfriend).

The Zips need a radio affiliate in central Ohio. I live just outside Columbus and while the airwaves are dominated by that local goliath down here we also have network affiliates for both Bowling Green and Ohio University, plus if I fiddle with dial enough I can pick up Toledo and Miami games too. Why not Akron?Even if they got a station in something like Mansfield or Mount Vernon it would cover a large listening area including a good chunk of central Ohio. I don't know if you've all noticed but Akron has been recruiting down this quite a bit, especially in basketball. Guys like Steward, Linhart, the McKnights, and Hitchens were guys I used to go out and watch at the local high schools here. There ought to at least be a way to listen to the games on the radio here.

I have run into people in Mt. Vernon who knew all about my small town high school alma mater, Chippewa (Doylestown). They listen to the Wayne County games on WQKT 104.5. Pretty stinkin' sad they can listen to Division 6 high schools (Dalton and Rittman are D6) from this area, but not the major college...

You mean the College of Wooster is not the major college? ?
