Great 2nd half. Zips should have been up by 15 by half time. Once you clamp down on Jarred Jones they have no one. Once Ball State clamps down on an Akron player we sub them out and put someone better in. This was probably out best free throw shooting game shooting 15-18 (83%). Granted Brian Walsh went 8-8 from the line. This win moves the Zips up to number 57 in the RPI.

CMU and WMU left on the road for the MAC West swing. I think WMU and Ball State are a toss up for the toughest in the West. Let's get a win in Mount Pleasant and then get some home cooking against some of the worst of the MAC. Fun game to watch just because we can find a way to win. We weren't get calls inside at all, Zeke was having trouble in the post and so we moved the ball outside and hit 60% of our 3s. If we can ever consistently put everything together...there will be no close games in the MAC.

I do believe that the intent of the person who gave me the info was to influence betting on the game. I am not happy with them.
Quit posting rumors here unless you can come up with a source!

@TPSjugglerdude, that's a great RPI site. Got it bookmarked now, and thanks for the tip.

No problem. They also have a great page that they update daily that has the bracketbuster participants sectioned off by Home and Away and shows you who the most probable opponent will be. Akron is 5th highest in away teams.

If the Zips ever play to their full potential for 40 minutes it is going to be difficult for any team in the conference to keep it within 20 against us. Right now the Zips are playing about 70% over the course of an entire game. 50% (if that) in the first half, and about 85% in the second half. The night the Zips come out of the locker room with fire in their eyes looking to destroy an opponent and don't let up for 40 minutes it is going to get REALLY ugly.

I think we're all blown away by what Harney is accomplishing because he has so little experience in both HS and college. Same with Tree. They deserve all the attention we're giving them. But this team is deep, and different players step up in every game. Look at the total game that Walsh had tonight. What a huge presence he's brought to the Zips. Q played an outstanding game tonight, as well. So did Rico.

Harney is going to have off nights, just like everyone else. When you have 9 players of the caliber that the Zips have right now, one guy is not going to get the job done in every game. But it doesn't matter.

Teams may try to come up with a smothering defense against the Zips player they think they have to be most careful to keep in check. But that's going to leave someone else less tightly guarded, and any of the Zips players can light it up in any given game.

We're still a team that plays to the level of their competition, has too many turnovers, and very slow starting. Very frustrating! They played decent against Ohio, then embarrassing loss to Buffalo, beat Can't then sloppy win against Ball State. The MAC west is supposed to be easy, but with these up and down games I have my doubts...

We just beat the #1 team in the west (we were 2 point underdogs) by 12.

I think we learned something important tonight. When the other team is going to foul, try to keep the ball in Walsh's hands. He looked very confident at the line and none of his foul shots even hit the rim.

I wish Nitro would try to get to the basket. When he just shoots 3 pointers he starts pressing and the shots just don't seem to fall.

Good point. Look at B. Walsh tonight. I missed 3 or 4 threes before he got an easy transition bucket. After that, he hit a couple threes and seemed to also pick it up defensively. I am noticing more and more streaker shooters just need to see the ball go in the hoop off their hands and their game seems to pick up after that.

Looks like Jones got the better of Zeke, but the rest of the team faceplanted.

Zeke's effectiveness is best measured by blocks, and wins.

He never gets the numbers like the physical bigs he faces, but those physical bigs need to have huge numbers for their team to have a chance to win.

Zeke needs his 4-5 blocks, plus 4-5 altered shots, and the Zips typically end up in the win column.

Points, schmoints.

What I thought was crucial tonight, was that Jones may of beaten Marshall around a bit, but when KD took Zeke out, in came Tree...Jones certainly had his problems against Treadwell tonight...hard for any post player to be mentally ready for two different types of post players...

If you listened to the STO announcers (I had French on most of the game, the audio matched up very well) they said that Tree "has an NBA body".

While Zeke’s offense was limited last night, his defense was good and his rebounding was improved. In fact, I think part of the reason Jarrod Jones was able to get those early looks beyond the arc was because Zeke was consciously trying not to stray too far from the basket (rebounding focus). Give credit to Ball St for using that early strategy.

I was glad to see Tree get the STO POTG. Like several have mentioned, it had to be difficult for Jones to have Zeke and Tree tag-teaming him all night long. That huge swing late in the game, when Jones missed the alley-oop and Walsh followed up with a three, was likely influenced by the fatigue Jarrod was experiencing from having to battle those two over significant minutes (probably too many, but what other choice does BSU have?).

That sure game was a difficult game to watch and I can’t count the number of times I was left screaming at the TV. It just seemed like the entire 1st half effort and focus were spotty at best. Thankfully, AA kept them in the game with his lights-out shooting or the traditional 2nd half charge might have been too little, too late. Note Dambrot was perhaps more vocal, start to finish, in this game than any other this year. He was obviously not happy with the execution, and rightfully so.

Harney had a learning experience to be sure. He was burned on defense a few times and forced a few shots on offense. I have no doubt he’ll bounce back at Central.

It's great to be 5-1. Go Zips!!

That's just not his game. Right now he's a spot up 3 pt shooter who can't shoot. To his credit, he did hit a very big 3 that started the run against the flashes but much more often than not he's simply a liability out there. McNees struggled with his once reliable stroke his senior year and it appears that the same has happened to Nitro. It's puzzling to say the least. Perhaps he's trying too hard instead of just naturally letting it fly ??? I just can't understand it.

I missed the first half and most of the second. But luckily when I turned it on we were up by 3 I think 39 -36. Never saw Gilliam, what was going on there? It seemed like Brett was getting some extra minutes...with his shot off you would have thought Gilliam would have seen more action.
