akronzips71
Great game to watch.I would have called Deji inside too.And I think he was fouled, but you never get that call.
MDZip
Loved Deji taking it to the hoop for the final shot - just didn't fall. Dammit, and Ohio absolutely collapsed at the end if the Zips hadn't dug such a big hole.
Glib Shanley
Can't wait for another article about how our foul shooting really isn't that bad..

Sportsjunkie330
If they go 2-5 from the free throw line they win the game.Tough loss.
Blue & Gold
I like taking it to the hoop strong on the final play. Deji almost made the layup. He probably got fouled. We only went to the line, what, 6 times tonight? Wow.We didn't make a single free throw tonight. Ouch.
zippy5
Two players tonight were completely unconscious. I'm anxious to see the box score because I have a feeling one of those two played about 10 more minutes. That's the difference tonightYep. Bean played 34, Deji played 22 minutes. Both players couldn't miss, but only one was allowed to take over the game. The other one was on the bench for half the game.

For good reason I suppose.
The Hip Zip
Hell of a game to watch, no doubt about it. Wonder how many " Are you kidding me " statements I missed from French by listening and watching the ESPN Feed. Anybody got the stats on that ?The Sun will come up tomorrow, just a little colder. We'll get through this. Now let's hope that OU does a number on Buff and Can't in the next weeks.

skip-zip
We only went to the line, what, 6 times tonight? Wow.I can't decide which is worse: Having only 6 opportunities? Or, missing every one of them?
1981 grad
I agree with you on Deji. He scored 13 points in 5 minutes and then he sits until about 2 minutes left in the first half. I would have like to see more of him in the first half. I think he played more in the second half. Great game to watch. The first half we played our best offense but our defense was bad. We gave up too many easy layups. They shot 24 foul shots to our 6. I said it another post (statistics) but this team is not getting to the line enough because we take too many 3 point attempts. There is one great positive: This young team is getting experience in playing in close games. That will help us when we get the Q

OU Dude
As I mentioned before, playing Ohio is like playing Russian Roulette, Bean and Stevie are going to dribble down the court and chuck up ill advised 3s all day long, ocassionally they get hot and find that one bullet in the chamber. Add this one to another exciting and entertaining matchup between these two teams. Zips did a great job of exploiting Ohio's lazy perimeter defense all night long but was a little surprised to see Ibitayo only get 22 minutes, Akron was +13 when he was on the floor and -14 when he was on the bench.Looking forward to the rematch in Akron.
skip-zip
I like that Keith called OU "fortunate" last night. I get it. I can't remember the last time I saw a team score 80+ points with absolutely no offensive continuity whatsoever. They won't make all of those shots in Akron. They may not even make half of them. So, I am looking forward to them coming to Akron also. It will be a 20+ point Akron victory.

UAZipster0305
This was an exciting overall game, and I don't lament the loss. Unfortunately, it was yet another example of the Zips losing because of a long scoring drought and attrocious foul shooting. When their big guy hit the long three from the sideline on the scramble play, I gave up. I was about to get upset about how lucky it was then I realized it balanced out with Pat's three. It's encouraging that the team didn't give up; that alone may win us a couple tight games down the stretch or in the MAC Tournament. Onwards and upwards.
doccomet87
Frustrating loss, but good game to watch. I would have liked to see our leading scorer and rebounder on the floor for at the end. I agree with getting Deji the ball and letting him create, but Pat would have been a nice #2 option and for following up a miss. Unless I am mistaken he was on the bench for the last play. We'll see if they correct it on-line.
