kreed5120
I was going to see about getting a 3 game pack for the Ken+, Buffalo, and OU game, but I went to gozips.com/tickets like it states and that package was no where to be found. Balsy
As one of the young Zips fans who might not know, would someone be willing to explain the significance of Dru Joyce and Romeo Travis? I know I've heard those names before...but they're both (I think) before my time as a Zips fan. This is a legit question of curiosity. NWAkron
I think they both went to and played for St. V with Lebron, and both were stars for the Zips from around 2004-2007. Dru, I think, now coaches St. V. I think someone else, though, could give you a more detailed rundown on the connections.
Hilltopper
Their arrival on campus along with the promotion of KD to head coach marks the beginning of the winning for the Zips basketball program.

All are all from the Akron area, and went to high school together. Romeo & Dru had good success at the U, LBJ went pro. I'm shocked that anybody that is an Akron basketball fan hasn't seen 'More Than a Game.' LeBron used to attend a lot of his friends games at the JAR while they were playing. 15 hours ago, zippy5 said: Hmm not sure how to embed a tweet from mobile After you paste in the link you have to add a hard return, then it should appear. skip-zip
WOW. Some of you guys are making me feel old. I feel like the Dru/Romeo era was just yesterday. Most significantly, Dru and Romeo were the Seniors on the team that went 26-7 in 2007 (and infamously got SNUBBED from both tournaments), and began the big run of MAC tournament success. Romeo was also Akron's only ever MAC MVP. Dru holds Akron's all-time assist record. NWAkron...that's Dru's DAD (Dru Sr.) who is the longtime coach at St. V., who succeeded Keith. zippy5
Pretty awesome. 750 isn't many, I'm guessing it was a last minute thing. My time at Akron started the year after they graduated so I never got to see them play unfortunately.

kreed5120
I've tried calling twice today and both times I got a recording that said something along the lines of I'm contacting them outside business hours and I need to call back during business hours of Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Unless I'm missing something it's Friday 10:08 AM. Oh well, I made an effort. I suppose they don't want my money.

I was not a fan of Zips basketball until I became a student in the fall of '08...which is why I didn't understand who they were.

Since it specifically states that season ticket holders will receive bobble heads, and the 750 are specifically for walk ups and GA, it won't. kreed5120
So it has been a few years since I made it out to the JAR. How early would you guys estimate that I would need to get to the game in order to guarantee myself a bobble head?
Dr Z
I just viewed a small story on Fox 8 news at lunchtime on the bobbleheads?!? After reading the story, the two teleprompter readers went on to have a conversation about what it would have been like if LeBron played at Akron, instead of pursuing a professional career directly out of high school. The lady that reads the teleprompter thought he made a good choice.

I just received my certificate for 3 bobble heads, 1 for each of the designated games. You get 1 set for each season ticket Account , not 1 per seat. Not an issue for me, but for the guy that has 4 seats (and 2 or 3 kids), it's going to be. That's going to require some Solomon-like decision making. (Jimmy, you can have the top of Dru and the bottom of Romeo)
