Have teams always cut the nets when they win the conference?  I thought it was when the team won the MAC tournament.

Yep.  As far back as I can remember.  

 

The 1986 Title was really fun in that respect because we cut down the nets in the JAR one weekend, and then cut them down in the JAR again the following weekend (Akron hosted the OVC Tournament that year because we were the regular season champ).

Despite having the title in hand I don't think there would be any net cutting after the game if the unthinkable happens and the Redhawks pull off an upset. I'd imagine net cutting is still dependent on winning the game Tuesday.

Would it look disrespectful to Miami to cut them down before the game?

 

If we could just drop Kent one more place this would be my dream MACC for this year. That would put WMU, Ball State, NIU, BGSU and Miami all on our half of the bracket with Ohio, Buffalo and Kent all fighting for the right to meet the Zips.

That would be even more extra incentive to beat Kent in Kent next week.

Things also get dicey for a few teams if Toledo and Western Michigan win out.  Toledo, Kent, Western, and Buffalo could end up in a 4 way tie.  Western could end up as a 3rd seed.  Whatever the case looks like we will have either Eastern Michigan (deja vu x3) or Northern Illinois as our quarterfinal match up.

How about Deja Vu X4 with Eastern.  Sort of.   Does everyone remember the Quarterfinal game last year?

I know we won, but the rest is a blur. I remember Noah doing something:

We trailed by 12 with 8 minutes left.  Big Dog gave us the lead by 1 with 26 seconds left.  Then we had to sweat out a final EMU possession.

I started thinking about alternate plans for MAC Tournament weekend.   We had actually cut down their double-digit lead once in that half already, and then it went back up again.  I thought that stretch demoralized us, and we couldn't do it twice.

Really?  Didnt realize they won those games.  I thought Akron was hottest team?  Or was it Buffalo?  Maybe Western Michigan?

Of course.  

 

I hope people stay.  In the past, the Arena has been nearly empty when they've done this.  The players and coaches love doing it.  Maybe telling them that this is going to happen might help?
