Game 14—@Toledo

Who is CBS Sports Net breaking in as the scoreboard operator for this??  They need to hire someone with some experience,  because the score always seems to be either not changing after baskets, or changing out of nowhere!

I think it's a win to only be down 10 considering Toledo shot 57.7% from the field and 56.3% from beyond the arc in the first half.

On Tuesday Utomi had a bad first half.  Tonight it is Ivey.  However, we are rebounding the ball so much better than Tuesday.  Unfortunately, we are leaving them wide wide open for the 3 ball.  Utomi got burned twice on consecutive plays on defense.  He has to stay with his man.  Once again we have no post up game.  Poke, Sayles and Kostelac aren't even thinking of making a move toward the hoop.  Once again nothing from the center position.  The 3rd foul on Poke when he set a bad pick and had his feet wider than his shoulders.  Just stupid B Ball.

I would really like to know -- is this the unluckiest team in America, that all our opponents get hot when the Zips step onto the floor, or are we just that bad a perimeter defensive team?  In past seasons, Akron was near the top in defensive 3-point percentage.  Now we must be near the bottom.

The point guard position is what really did Groce in at Illinois. So important for this offense. I would actually support him going after a point guard in every class.

Did we go from awful against dribble penetration and good against the perimeter under KD to good against dribble penetration and awful on the perimeter with Groce?  LOL!

Zips playing much harder tonight. Really fighting hard on boards, jumping passing lanes, etc.

Toledo finally cooled off from the 3 line and Zips are really hustling on boards.  This team is athletic and it is great to see the turnaround on the rebounding.  Poke is getting some shots.  Great comeback.  Go Zips!

all those great inbounds plays I and a few others were talking about!  good game for Zips.  It's coming along.  Quick look at stats...they were basically event except in FTs.  Goodd tune up for Buffalo.

The Zips played well.  The mental part is going to be able to close out close games on the road.  Duvivier had the shot but he hesitated and then missed.  Looking forward to Tuesdays game.  We did not shoot many foul shots tonight and that hurt us.

They played pretty well.  However, much of the scoring was from outside.  Still need to work on getting some points in the paint.
