zipfan84
Great game! Especially the 2nd half. So encouraging to see the guys attack the hoop aggressively. Something that has been missing for too long. They were able to truly leverage their athleticism instead of negating it by jacking 3s early in the shot clock. Keep it up. GO ZIPS!!! NWAkron
Zips broke the press with only 5 turnovers all game. When YSU was making 3s from everywhere, this team didn't panic. They settled for 2s instead of trying to matched them 3 for 3. Zips would catch up and YSU would drain another 3. Again, Zips didn't run down the court and chuck up a "me too" 3. Chicago State on Friday lost by 41 to Central Michigan. first test will be Clemson in Grand Cayman.
LZIp
We haven't played anyone yet, but dang it has been fun to watch this team play so far and it was fun watching them kick YSU's butt. Loren Jackson's value probably cannot be overstated. He can shoot, he can dribble, he can create, he plays smart, he has a knack for getting foul calls, and I haven't seen his size be an issue yet. So refreshing not having to deal with freshman mistakes at that position and on this team in general. Luckily we get him for 3 years! This team is athletic and talented. Hard to believe the majority of the players have almost no experience playing together outside of practice...these guys have chemistry and are playing nice team ball. Ivey isn't forcing things (because he doesn't have to). I'm feeling very confident that what happened last season is in the rear view mirror for good and we are going to be back to being MAC competitors this season and going forward. Buckle up...should be a fun season. Really looking forward to our bigger OOC games. Edited November 11, 2018 by LZIp
Z.I.P.
Who was there? Hilltopper? Was Hester in the building? Riak impressing and surprising with that performance. He showed very little in two seasons IIRC at ECU. He can be the missing piece that makes this team a MAC contender.

No Hester (of course, I'm not sure I would recognize him if I saw him at ACME where I did see Jerome Lane but I digress) Toles still in street clothes but very involved from.the bench. Hilltopper told us last week that Hester is no longer with the team.
clarkwgriswold
Our old friend GT made the following stellar observation in his article about the game- Another key difference was getting big man Deng Riak involved. Riak added 14 points and led the team with seven rebounds. It proved to be a vast difference from the season opener when it looked as if the 6-foot-10, 225-pound transfer from East Carolina University was virtually forgotten. Apparently, GT wasn't at the Cedarville game. Against Cedarville, he played 25 minutes and had 7 field goal attempts and 6 free throw attempts. Against YSU, he played 26 minutes and had 8 field goal attempts and 3 free throw attempts. I guess one fewer minute put him in the class of virtually forgotten. I get more from reviewing the box score than I get from a GT article. 3

Cannot confirm that he was awake the whole time though
Blue & Gold
I don't believe the replay is available on ESPN3. I clicked the link on the ESPN website but was unable to get the game to play
zippy5
To be fair, he didn't specify who was virtually forgetting Riak. He could have dozed off and virtually forgotten everyone by the time he started writing
1981 grad
I understand the point GT was making. Against Cedarville, Riak took several outside shots and a three pointer. I thought to myself that he needs to post up and take the ball inside. Against Youngstown he made several nice post moves and did not shoot from the outside. He was also more active under the boards and fought for some tough rebounds. He played much better and was much more effective in the Youngstown game. NWAkron
It's like GT desperately wanted to use the phrase "virtually forgotten" and placed it in the article completely out of context.
clarkwgriswold
I think GT has "virtually forgotten" how to be a reporter.
