clarkwgriswold
The struggling Falcons come into the JAR Tuesday night to face the Zips. The Falcons have lost 5 of 6 heading into Saturday night's game against Ball State and are 12-14/5/10 on the season going into the BSU game. The Zips played what may have been their best game of the year against BG on January 20th trouncing the 25 at BG. Daeqwon Plowden continues to lead the Falcons at 15.9 ppg and 7 rpg agame. zipsrule
My daughter, who attends BG, informed me that Joe Reece and Myron Gordon are no longer with the team. They are the team's second and third leading scorers. Anyone else hear anything about this?

From BG message board: "Below is a direct paste of his comments to me...I cannot paraphrase this...again, it's all posted with his permission since he cannot get approved to use his own voice on here: James Reece (Joe's Dad) wrote:And let them know that the reason “straight from the coaches mouth,” was he didn’t like their attitude… mind you.. Joe was never late for practice, never any altercations on or off the court! 3. Something GPA never cursed out a coach .. but his body language was poor and his “energy” .. I’m still like HUH !! I guess I didn’t know that you were supposed to be a I guess happy when you are losing games… especially the ones that you know you could have won!" LoyalZIP
If you thought the Zips were struggling badly, BG has been an unmitigated disaster. The Zips beat them by 25 in their own gym, and they’ve only gotten worse since. Of course, very few games are easy for this Akron team and I don’t expect this one to be either. But they should win, and it shouldn’t be close at the end. Let’s hope.
clarkwgriswold
ay-ziggy-zoomba.com, the BGSU sports forum is on fire. While we've been disappointed, the guys over, including the parent of one of the dispatched players, are all over the program, Huger and the AD. RowdyZip
Credit where credit due, handily beating a bad team on the road. I didn't expect it, and even more surprising without Trimble. BG **should** be an easy takedown in the JAR. If Bryan doesn't return, my major concern is the lack of bench. Better hope Mr. Wynn stays in the good graces of the staff. Edited February 20, 2022 by RowdyZip

Being Arth's b****, only for Akron to actually bring one of the most sought after coaches in college football, then getting rolled by the entire MAC in basketball has to be brutal.

Blue & Gold
Been a lot of drama this year. Freeman seems like a very drama-free, level-headed dude. Hope he doesn't tire of this.
1981 grad
Interesting article. By indicating that Trimble is not suspended, it looks like Groce is leaving up to Trimble whether he wants to return to the team and become a coachable player. I thought one of Trimble's best game was against Ball State where he went 1 0f 7 from 3 but then decided to abandon the 3 ball and score around the basket and went 7 of 8 from the field. I remember posting that Trimble would be so much better for the team if he did not shoot the 3 ball exclusively. However, after that game it was sink or swim on the 3. Lately, it has been mostly sinking. I could see where Trimble' might be upset with Groce since Groce has given him the green light to play as a 3 point specialist his entire career with Akron. After the 3 game slide, Groce probably wanted more and took him out as a starter. He might have felt singled out for the losing streak when this is the way he has been playing his entire career under Groce. When I look at Trimble's stats for the year, one stat really struck me in that he has one offensive rebound in 656 minutes. if you multiply Wynn's stats to the same playing time as Trimble, he would have 40 offensive rebounds. As people have pointed out on this board, this is not the most talented team so we need to be scrappy. If Wynn gets more playing time, it might improve the team if he plays well. I certainly hope that Trimble sees that he can add value to the team and decides to rejoin the team. However, he also knows he can leave the team and play somewhere else next year. Such is life under the new transfer rule.
clarkwgriswold
Would somebody please tell GT there's no "E" at the end of Wynn.
clarkwgriswold
This Trimble situation all adds up to what I predicted would happen if he got demoted. That being said, I don't think it is a huge loss given how he's played this year. I'm sure there's a community college near his hometown that would be happy to have him. I wonder if some of these kids ever look back after it is all over and question their youthful decision making or whether their arrogance keeps them from doing so for the rest of their lives.

He had ONE game where he got in there and did some nice 2 point jumpers. As someone else mentioned a while back, he disrupted everything else on the floor when he was shooting air ball after brick after clunker.
