Shouldn't an offensive genius have an advantage in the recruiting process with QBs and be able to bring in even an even average MAC QB?  Then again, who wants to come to a program with 6 wins since the start of the 2019 season?

This is where I'm at, plus a little more.

We have Irons, Undercuffler, Bullock, Jennings, and Wasel on the staff. Irons isn't moving the offense. Fine. Undercuffler isn't moving the offense. Fine. Why not run with Bullock/Jennings/Wasel?

Joe likes Irons (may be his demise). Fine. How can we make Irons more effective? An offensive genius has to be able to scheme guys open and fit the play calling to his personnel. Irons has a big arm, so why not take a few more deep shots, especially with post patterns? On shorter throws, why not more over the middle throws with shorter quicker crossing routes? Irons can run, but defenses know that. Why not get the RBs going in space outside of the tackles to help open the game up? Do we have speed on this roster? Where is it and why aren't we using it?

Can't attract talent now? Fine. But what's going to change if this is what we are getting with the "offensive genius"? This offense is a 100 year old machine that has sat out in the elements and never been maintained. Everything is grinding and difficult to move; nothing is smooth. With the transfer portal opening up college athletics, the talent we have may not even stay. Might as well figure out what we have and try to benefit from it while we have it.

If Joe doesn't like certain things as a Head Coach, he needs to find someone to handle those things properly or not be a Head Coach in the first place. This is complete garbage and inexcusable.

Yes we do im not sure of the football you guys are use to watch but im from Miami and im use to WR making plays after they catch the ball and i don't see it at all in these WR's im sorry!

I don't see the ball getting close enough to their hands in big play opportunities for them to catch.

I don't want an average MAC QB. I want a top notch MAC QB. That's how you win and compete for league championships.

I don't want to be the NC State of the MAC. We can do better than that. If Wake Forest can get top level ACC QBs, Akron can get top level MAC QBs.

You are 100% correct.  The sad part is even with average MAC QB play we would have made a run at 4-1 with the way the defense is playing.

We should be 4-1 and in first place in the division with enough opportunity in front of us to make the day after Thanksgiving game meaningful. Instead, here we go again......

Lingard needs to touch the ball more than 15 times a game

Agree. They also need to make his early game touches more productive. When we use our RBs, the production needs to be consistent throughout the game.

Getting more often beyond 1-2-3-punt might help that.  They ran a measly 55 plays today.  Only 3 teams in all of NCAA FBS football averaged fewer plays per game last year.

Well, no ****, but my point is that we can't even get to the level of average.  In today's world of the transfer portal, it's damn embarrassing they can't find something better.

No but it looked like number 5 broke the cardinal rule…he took the outside guy and the guy that took his inside gap blocked it

Just saw it.  You're right they put him to a choice and he chose wrong, the inside guy blocked it with his helmet, the outside guy was close but would not have got there.

Irons tore his ACL. His career as a Zip is officially over. On to the next QB.

That’s too bad. His play is polarizing but he always gave it his all and made some great plays. Best of luck to him going forward.

who do we trot out there there next/rest of the season? Undercuffler might win you a few games but what does that really accomplish?

id say go with Bullock most of the rest of the year and then Wasel the last few games assuming we don’t have any postseason hopes. Tough to be a zips fan.

I agree totally.  I hated that he was banged up all season after coming off surgery and never looked quite right.  I don’t think all the quarterback draws and delayed runs helped either.  Add in his lack of getting the ball out quick and his frequently keeping the ball on a RPO regardless of what the defense gave him and it’s no surprise he didn’t make it through  the season.   He got crushed, rocked and killed every game.

He didn't block anyone. Not sure what rule that is in the book, but it's inexcusable.

Sad to hear about Irons. @LZIp nailed it. Polarizing play but always gave it his all.

Give me Bullock ROS.

Some random thoughts:

- D has played their asses off, props to them

- the late hit/personal foul on 3rd and long was a killer, Buffalo went on to score their only TD when they would have had to punt

- another killer (among many) was the 3 and out when they got it on the 45. Time to finish at that point.

- Lingard needs more touches, he’s a breakaway threat and it will help the passing game

- don’t think I’ve ever seen a team so inept on offense in 2nd half. How does this happen??

- where are the tight ends? QB’s best friend on a struggling offense. Seems they aren’t even in the game plan?

- 😩😩
