We went 8 minutes without a basket.  Hard to believe with all that talent and experience that nobody could put the ball through the hoop for an extended time period.  The last 4 minutes we are finally making some shots and forcing some turnovers.  Need Hunter to get more involved down low.  He needs to show some senior leadership,

A very nice stream indeed. And I synced my game!!

Makes betting MW games even more fun when you have such a nice production to watch that's free and available on ROKU in addition to my computer. 😉

Not a huge fan of our defensive rotations this year. Just seems...slow.

Nobody really stepping up. and PG getting their ankles broken..not trending well so far.

Also this Jackie Johnson tearing us up is a former Duquesne player.

Another embarrassing half for a team of this level of experience. They certainly could be great, maybe even one of the best Akron teams ever. But there is hardly any cohesion right now. Shot-making was a nice deodorant for the first few games. Guards look way out of control and clueless every time down the floor. UNLV shooting the lights out doesn’t help. Just disappointing.

A Caymanesque start for the Zips.

How does a badass like Dawson lose his confidence?

Dawson has three 3’s? I think my feed must have been buffering on each one. 😄 Glad he’s back.

Our guard play is a big time drop off from years past.

Freeman seems to be the only Zip stepping up his game.  Other than him,  does any Zip stand out for his offense or defense.  A lot of terrible passes and the end of the half was another turnover.  Just not playing with any discipline.  You would not think that this is a senior team.  We really need one of your guards to stand out  and take control.  Really miss X.

I love a good homer announcer pair. These guys are big Runnin' Rebels fans. Haha

First two fans to get to the game get to announce it. 😆

I’d kill for an Ali back to the basket right now. Freeman bringing the ball up—out of control. Scott—out of control. Thornton and Tavari—lucky to even get the damn thing over half court. Nate Johnson and Sammy Hunter—alligator arming everything they throw up there. So disappointed. Can’t say it enough. This is the furthest we’ve been from Akron Basketball in quite a while. Bradley will smoke us next week.

The last 4 minutes they are playing better and have not turned the ball over.  Lyle played some really good minutes.  They have cut the lead to 9.  Very little room for error if they are going to make this a game.

It's still early but I'm disappointed with this group. Really thought they had the talent to be special like the 12-13, 19-20, and 21-22 teams.  Maybe they still do?

Our guard play is not good enough. Our defense is not good enough. We have no  frontcourt depth beyond Freeman.  Offense is stagnant.

Ali Ali would obviously help. I'd like to think Prather might too, but who knows?

We aren’t as good as I thought we’d be this season. Ali, or no Ali.

March is a long ways away, but I expected us to make some noise in the OOC portion of the schedule. I was wrong.

If there was ever a year, this was supposed to be it. Akron basketball has no signature win or moment in its most successful era. I really thought this year would be different, expecting Ali to play of course. But that is besides the point. There’s way too much experience on this active roster to look like this against what is comparable to good MAC teams. About to drop 3rd in a row, and we’re fortunate to beat FIU. And Bradley is everything we thought we would be.

I’m not trying to sound ungrateful as we’ve been ridiculously fortunate over the last 20 seasons. But other teams in the league have had multiple seasons of winning in the tournament, some have gone to the Sweet 16, some the Elite 8, some have won 30 games. Weird situation for fans, how much more can you ask for when you’ve pretty much had everything that so many mid majors would kill for?

Our guards are pretty bad right now. Thornton can't even recognize when Freeman seals off a defender to give him an open drive to the hoop. Somebody is going to have to step up.
