As if the "Kent State" didn't say "We Suck" enough. 😂

1-11 is also the range of ACT scores for the average Kent student.  110 is their average SAT score.

So they're already placing an over/under on the halftime score?

Or is that number referencing the value, in millions of dollars, that each team would need in order to match the other's NIL fund?

I don't believe I've ever been less excited about an upcoming year of Zips football. Last year completely took the zip out of me and this week one matchup pisses me right off.

I did a podcast the other week previewing the Zips for another team and mentioned I’ve never seen a team play 13 one score games over two seasons - and only win 3 of them. One of the hosts couldn’t believe Zips played a total of 7 overtimes last year. We need to be on the winning side of more of those games this season.

I'm thinking closer to $2M. I'm taking the 50.5 points... I'm such a homer.

I agree. I'm not even that interested in much of college football anymore. Maybe if I was their target audience, degenerate gambler, I might have more interest. At least they get two, two minute warnings so they can add another five minutes into the marathon of watching a game now. It's all so gross.

I'm not kidding when I say this....  They aren't trying to win, and those who go to games are having their money stolen from them.

I’m sorry, but that is just such a stupid comment. Why in the hell would they not be trying to win?? Please explain to me how not winning would benefit this program

if you were trying to win would you create the OOC schedule we have?

Not winning doesn't benefit it, but that doesn't mean they're trying.

I don't find the schedule to be all that brutal. If we were a good team by MAC standards we'd be able to compete with both Rutgers and South Carolina. The problem is we're not a good team by MAC standards.

Well, obviously there is a balance needed for your out of conference schedule and having Ohio State does not help your chances of winning but every MAC team does it. It’s a much needed payday for MAC teams and it’s a reality. Saying that they’re out of conference schedule is tough and saying that this athletic department/football team is not trying to win are two very different things.

I'm talking about the athletic department. They believe scheduling a sure loss is more important than scheduling a winnable game. Game 1 is my evidence.

All true. Still tall tasks even for good mac programs.

it was a yes or no question. if you wanted to win, would you schedule OSU, Rutgers and SC? The answer is no

I guess a good thing to examine would be how often scheduling incompetency happens. In recent history, how many MAC teams have been given the opportunity to replace a P5 school, with two already on the schedule, and have chosen another P5 school?  If so, how many were replaced with Top 5 teams?

lol, ok so you’re saying Miami doesn’t want to win this year because they are playing Notre Dame, Northwestern and Cincy. And BG doesn’t want to win either because they are playing Penn State and Texas A&M. And Kent State certainly doesn’t want to win either, they’re playing Tennessee, Penn State and Pitt. I guess none of the MAC wants to win…

correct! they're all placing money over wins, you're catching on

Ding ding ding. This is an exciting schedule for a competitive team. We saw last season that our defense can keep us in games with both Indiana and Kentucky. If Finley plays well, who's to say we aren't competitive in the games vs Rutgers & SC? Ohio State is what it is - thank you for the pay day.

So your problem isn’t with Akron it’s all of the G5 teams, got it, never play a P5 opponent. So simple, sounds like a great plan

depends if your #1 goal is to win or not

I don't know about his, but my problem is comparing every situation as if it is the same. The majority of the MAC isn't nearly as bad as we are. Miami can go 1-3 and be fine in the long run. Akron can't.

Akron's program is in a horrible state and needs to start winning. Picking up OSU after Kentucky dropping Akron missed a chance at getting a win through smart scheduling. It does nothing to build a winning culture. If it isn't a sign the AD values money over winning, I don't know what is.
