2024 Conference Opponents

WMU made out. Only team that has no Miami or Toledo (or even OU at that).

No kidding! Also, every one of their conference opponents will have a new QB than who they finished the year with except maybe Bowling Green.

The MAC has always had some unpredictability but now with transfers, I don't know how to assume who is going to be good. Ohio and Toledo are always among the top but both of them are looking for new QB's after the top 2 QBs in the league transferred out. NIU is good every other year. Their game management is horrible so I think it really depends on the week you play them. Eastern Michigan has had some winning seasons but last year was kind of a fraud as they beat bad teams and lost to good teams.

All that said, I do agree with GP1. We have to win 5 games in the MAC this year.

Wow, tough schedule.  I hope they prove me completely wrong, but I see 1 or 2 probable wins, 2 maybes, and 8 should lose.  Three of the first four will all be 20-40 point losses.

I know we are strapped for cash, but one or two money games are enough.   This program needs some wins.

Yes, Rutgers and South Carolina are beatable for any average-to-above-average G5 program. My expectation for the program is to exist in that category.

I’m not going to say those aren’t winnable games, but the likelihood is low. For all of his faults, Beamer has yet to lose to a G5 program (or lower) during his tenure at SC. Plus, he’s had a strong offseason of recruiting. Carolina should be improved in all areas except QB. They go into the season with a huge question mark at QB and we all know how that can look. For anyone who hasn’t been to a game at Williams-Brice stadium and have a chance to go, it’s worth it. Every team in the SEC has their own unique experience and Carolina is right up there. Especially for night games.

I don’t know much about Rutgers except they basically won all the games they should have won and lost all the games they were expected to lose last year. Talent wise, they are also better than us.

Every MAC team we play (with the exception of Bowling Green) will be breaking in a new QB. Should make for an interesting year.

South Carolina needed a 10-0 4th Quarter to beat Jacksonville State last year, and that was with Spencer Rattler at QB. That was towards the end of the season; we'll be catching them as they're still working out the kinks this year. If we would've quit shooting ourselves in the foot, we would've been more competitive with Kentucky last year. I'm not saying it's likely, but it's winnable.

Rutgers might be better than South Carolina, but it's still Rutgers. I will forever think of them as a lower echelon B10 team, and all of the Big Ten is beatable outside of Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, USC, and Oregon.

It’s fair to say Carolina was working out the kinks all season. If they didn’t have the worst, it was definitely one of the worst OLs in P5. They should be much improved this year (and will need to be for a new QB). Their defensive line will be a load to handle. As far as competition level goes, they are about on par with Kentucky. You’re right, too many miscues last year. The team will need to not only be much better, but also need to outplay what will likely be a raucous environment.

Sure, maybe if we were Toledo those 2 P5 games could be winnable. I haven't seen anything from this program during Moorhead's tenure that leads me to believe we will be remotely competitive in those games. Let alone have any chance of winning them.

This is the year I'd like to see the program begin to take strides. It would be great getting to 6 wins, but I'd be content getting to 5.

As much as I hate to see it and as much as I dislike Greg Schiano, I think Rutgers is an 8-win team in 2024.  Knights will be tough.

They were a butchered easy FG from beating a P5 school last year. They won't win, but the chance is s there.

Looks like a 50/50 game with a 6-5 (2023) FCS team and probably a 50/50 at Kent.  So 2-10 is the ceiling again.  With their crack marketing team, I'm sure they'll get dozens of people to come out for this.

That Indiana team was also among the worst P5 programs in the country. Rutgers, who we will be playing, beat them by 17.
