Vs Princeton at Home - NCAA Tourney

Recommended Posts

Princeton was 17 in RPI and they have to go on the road

wonder if they did not put in a bid to host?

I am amazed that Princeton blitzed Penn yesterday...and Penn got a 6 seed.

I like that the Zips got in and they have a home game

Gaucho Dan did not do well with his deep dive.   Fordham and Akron got in....

#35 UNC-Greensboro was only snub...

#39 UCLA was only team above cut line to get in

Just looked at RPI's....

our first round opponent (princeton) has a better RPI  (17) than the seeded team in the 2nd round

IU has an RPI of 21...and gets seeded number 14

NCAA committee....has a mind of its own

Another anomaly I see is West Virginia winning SBC tournament, but having to do on road vs Virginia in second round.  How are the Mountaineers not among the top sixteen teams??

West Virginia has one loss all year.....

they are 12-1-7

if I am WVU coach, I am furious

It is going to be a dreary day on Thursday in Akron. High of 37 and snow forecasted. Starting the same way as 2018!

Unfortunately, game is at the same time as the Browns vs Steelers game in Cleveland, I wish I would not have bought tickets 2 months ago, would much rather be in Akron on Thursday 😔

StubHub can find you a buyer. You only live once, and NCAA tourney Akron soccer > garbage Browns football.

As far as the draw, I love this. Best case scenario IMO.

Who remembers NCAA first round game about 1982, Akron vs UW-Green Bay at Lee Jackson?  It was 33-35° all day with off-and-on sleet!  The field was going to freeze and coach Dowdy hired a helicopter service to fly over the field at about 30-50 ft elevation to warm the playing surface to prevent it from freezing!  We went on to defeat the Phoenix decisively.

Akron has not won an NCAA match since 2018.  We are lucky to be here.

NO LOOKING PAST CURRENT OPPONENT!!!!!!!!

very wise advice from a dedicated fan.....who was passionately follwing Zips soccer when George and Louie starred on the pitch.

1 game at a time.

3 years ago, all of us were absoutely ecstatci because we got to play patsy Santa Clara in the first round.

This year, on paper.......according to RPI....;.the Zips are an underdog....

#34 Akron vs.  #17 Princeton

on Sunday, Princeton dominated the #6 seed in the NCAA tournament.

The Ivy League had 3 teams rated in the top 25 by RPI.   The Big East only had 2teams in Top 25 RPI.

Seton Hall finished in the top half of the Big East.  When Princeton played Seton Hall, Princeton pounded them 5-2

No looking ahead for our beloved Zips........Weather is going to be cold and slippery.   The Zips need to come out ready to play against a top 20 RPI team

I have a very vague recollection of weather influencing Akron soccer.  One I believe was a game against West Virginia where the field was snow covered and we won and their coach was upset that they had to play on a snow covered field.  The other was a game where our field was not playable and they moved the game to Chicago, Northwestern? where we lost.  I remember that we wanted to move the game to the St. V. field and felt like we got screwed by the NCAA.  If anyone can fill it these games it would be appreciated.  (Assuming my memory is correct)
