clarkwgriswold
So much one on one basketball today. Getting run by a Horizon League team. This is on hell of an alternative to the Browns.
1981 grad
Worst broadcast ever. They replay every basket. The Zips play so fast we miss the score while they are showing the replay. Ridiculous!!!

Let'sGoZips94
We look like a team whose last game was 10 days ago vs a DIII team whose tallest player was 6'7".
AkronAlumnus
MAC basketball is in an absolute state of consternation rn.. I thought we were a small step above the rest but guess not.

dirtyolcrowe
I’d be interested in seeing our won/loss record under Groce where our OOC opponents had a winning record at the time we played them. can’t we beat one or two quality opponents.

Z.I.P.
Milwaukee 100. Akron 81. I'm guessing Antetokounmpo had a triple-double. 🤔

I don’t have a problem with the Zips playing D3 teams on occasion. But I agree we looked like a team that hadn’t played in a long time. For whatever reason the games are not well spaced this year. 1981 grad
We gave up the rebounding war, 46-28 and our defense was terrible giving up 100 points. Bad defense and bad rebounding is not a recipe for success. Edited December 15 by 1981 grad

I take issue with it when your next game vs a DI team looks like you thought you could sleep-walk through it like the DIII game. People complain about not playing any marquee P6 teams, but the real problem in the schedule is not making sure every game December on is DI level competition. I don't care about winning every game as much as I do making sure you're up for every game. Edited December 15 by Let'sGoZips94

There typically is a long break this time of year because we don't schedule games during finals week, which makes sense.
clarkwgriswold
I listened to Groce on the post-game. He indicated that the defensive game plan going in was based upon Milwaukee being a poor three-point shooting team and then they were just on fire. They then made the adjustments at half to counter the threes and were then unable to stop them off of the dribble. He was relatively content with the offense but not at all with the defense. He also criticized the veterans for their approach at the beginning of the game while praising Young and MMK for their play despite their inexperience. He was also unhappy with the offensive rebounding disparity. Milwaukee is a decent team. They'll likely win the Horizon. As I mentioned in the post opening the thread, they were the preseason favorites along with Purdue-Fort Wayne. Their best player, Pratt, is now back. All that being said, the Zips who we consider to be the class of the MAC should not be thumped as they were by them. If the Zips performed like that on their exams we could have a lot of academic ineligibles coming up! Our bigs are not helping. Okonkwo, Lyles and MMK were 5 of 12 from the field, 0 for 1 from the line, had 6 rebounds and 11 points.

I agree, but I think we will have 3 week-long breaks this OOC schedule. It just seems too erratic for my liking.

From what I saw it looked like they were just picking up the feed from the big video board which would explain why there was no score or clock. Fortunately it was the radio play by play so score and time were given often. Play by play guy sounded like he was calling the game fron home. Hardly any crowd noise. Blue & Gold
You can’t win them all but it’d be nice to maybe at least go .500 in OOC marquee matchups. We never seem to win many… any.

Fortunately for us the majority of the MAC is the same caliber of the cupcakes many here complain about us scheduling OOC.
