Game 14- Central Michigan

Recommended Posts

The Zips open the home MAC schedule Tuesday with Central Michigan.  The Chipps are 6-6 heading into their MAC opener tonight with Ohio U.

6'6" senior guard/forward Jakobi Heady, a Bethune-Cookman transfer, leads the Chipps in scoring (13.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg).  6'10" junior forward, Cal Bakersfield transfer,  Ugnius Jarusevicius is second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 12.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg.  Anthony Pritchard, last year's Mid-American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year and All-MAC first teamer also returns, and is averaging 12.3 ppg and 3.8 rpg . Pritchard, who led the team in points and assists per game last season, has been named to the preseason All-MAC first team.  The Chipps returned 4 players from last year's squad and were picked 8th in the MAC preseason poll.

Love to see Okonkwo continue to play good minutes.

Wilson starting tonight seemed like another odd coaching choice, but looks like they knew something. Hope he keeps that shot.

He was a real shooter in high school.  Maybe he's finally getting it?

Tavari playing well.  Gray playing well.  Young earning more minutes.    Scott earning more minutes.  Wilson earning more minutes.  Groce has his work cut out for him.

It's a good problem to have.

Look around the league tonight ... every game was in the 80s and 90s. Lots or scoring and lots of 3-point shooting. If nobody in the MAC is going to play any defense, Zips sure look better than most at the 3-point game. Even Buffalo, bad as they are, puts up a lot of points almost every game.

Seth Wilson! Listen, I've been highly critical of him but man did he look great tonight. If he can keep shooting it like that and playing good defense, he may pay off after all.

Okonkwo was super active tonight...really did a great job of doing the dirty work in the paint.

And Sharron Young...that kid is going to be special. Hopefully he'll stay in Akron because he's going to be a helluva player.
