2025 MAC Tournament

Recommended Posts

I thought the final last year was one of the most remarkable games I’ve seen live in my life. Any team, any sport. This thing tonight was off the chain.

Props to the Zips fans. Huge numbers and they were totally into it.

amazing night

I just got home.  I am: 1) hoarse from screaming; 2) exhaausted; and 3) damn proud to be a Zips fan.

We had an obnoxious Kent State fan in front of us rooting for Miami who about 8 minutes on said it was over.  As the clock expired I leaned in, grabbed him by the shoulder, and said "I thought you said it was over about an hour and a half ago."  It very mush enjoyed that.

Ironic, how many times last year did Groce pull Tevari for bad defense.  In the last possession Tevari played his best defense of the game.  A quick outlet and Nate was off to the races.  That is 2 games in a row that we won the championship in the last seconds of the game.  Was anybody else having nightmares when the Miami player hoisted  a prayer from beyond half court?  Now lets win our first NCAA game.

Indeed, great, great defense by Tavari. Amani with the monster rebound and outlet pass. And finally Nate keeping his composure to not only hit the runner, but also making sure he didn’t foul on that final heave. I’m still amazed. I keep replaying it.

This was me, except surrounded by Miami fans. I told them they were soft, that the floor mopper was going to tear a tricep with all the work he had to do from their flopping, and that they wouldn't shoot 75% for the game.

Miami fan told me to get used to it, and I told him I’m used to being at the championship game, but they only show up once a decade. And that their wives all have plastic surgery. And that it’s going to be a long lonely private jet flight back to Miami.

Thank you Zips for the greatest game I’ve been to in a looooong time.

Amani Lyles was a man in this game.  I think his three pointer in the second half started the confidence and his rebounding was superb.  Great outlet pass for the game winner.  Incredible poise and determination by the team in the second half.  They took the best punch Miami had and recovered.  So much resilience.

By the way, if you were on the opposite side of the bench/Akron fans, your butthole definitely puckered on the half court heave by Miami. It looked like it was going in.

Looked like it was going in on TV. Terrifying few seconds.
