WeRise225
Looks like they are finally fixing the embarrassing brick road through campus. Can’t wait for this, the current state of the brick road is just ridiculously bad.
Reslife4Life
Finally! That area in front of the library has been awful for years now, it seems there is always a hole in the ground, that picture on the bottom left looks good! And that area in front of Crouse/Ritchie needs some work as well

A student would get hit almost every year and about every four years someone would get killed. Big day when they finally rerouted that highway.

I have heard stories about that for years, but now it looks impossible for there to have ever been a road there. Them making it a pedestrian only walkway has to be one of the more underrated campus improvements of all time

The fall of 87 was my first semester. It was the last semester Carroll Street extended through campus. I remember how awesome it was when the commons was finished.

adzip
You all are virtual teenagers. I started work at Akron June 1965! Started graduate school at night the same year. Not only was Buchtel open, there were apartment buildings across the street- believe they were called the Char apartments (i think) used as dorms to the growing student population. there were small former homes, some used as fraternity houses, where the library is. Akron has grown and developed as a strong regional University during this period and needs to feel prouder about its strengthening than it does. It is an excellent institution and changes like this pathway enhancement will give it the visual "look" that many people associate with a strong school. Looks great Forever a Zip!

WeRise225
Looks like they are matching the theme in the commons. The concrete split up by a row of bricks @ZippyRulz Edited Friday at 01:40 AM by WeRise225

I love the brick but they have gotten so lazy with repairing it, they would pretty much just put concrete with a fake brick pattern as a patch when there were holes
