Absolutely, I should have been more clear - I just mean finding a starting caliber post. It's highly unlikely they find someone as good as Amani right now in the portal. As you said, maybe someone already good enough on defense that they can develop offensively. I'll be curious to see what happens with Chabi, too.

Coach just took the beatdown stick to Tod on espn cleveland. Said the success is about preparation and hard work. Mentioned” “the other coach” said they were living a charmed life and dismissed it. We are so lucky to have him.

Staying Close to John Groce - Coach-related News and Views

Now, today the news is coming out that he's retiring. -
I looped Shammah's game winner to easily show just how many Akron fans were in the crowd. Normally you can see a definitive line where Akron's fans are vs. the opponent's fans. Not Saturday night; Akron fans wrapped all the way around. 11k in attendance and probably ~9k were Zips fans. Previous MAC title games - including vs. Kent - only saw 7-8k total attendance. What an incredible showing by Zips Nation!

Here is a down and back same day option. CLE-TPA-CLE. Airfare, game ticket and 2 uber trips. No Hotel or evening bar tabs.

Look at Allegiant from Akron to St Pete

I was looking on flying out Thursday and returning Monday. Figuring I would want to be there for the round of 32. Prices might have gone up now as I'm sure flights are filling up.

I looked out of Akron, Cleveland and Pittsburgh last night and the flight prices I was seeing felt pretty outrageous. Was trying to fly in Thurday evening and then leave Friday evening. as others have said: at least going off of the Pittsburgh experience, ticket prices seem to drop quite a bit the closer you get to the game.

Yes, it will be interesting. My friend group was messaging and we were discussing perhaps making the trip to Tampa. Probably not going to happen, but airfare was relatively cheap. Saw some flights for <$200. You also have a lot of snowbirds, like @VAZip, who can suddenly attend. I imagine games in cities like Orlando or Tampa attract a different kind of crowd compared to other parts of the country because they're easy to get to, plenty of transplants already in the area, and who wouldn't want to escape the cold for a few days.
-
I made the mistake of buying tickets early for the Creighton game in Pittsburgh a few years back. I think they were ~$200 a piece +/-. The day before the game or the day of, they were $30 each. Outside of Florida, I'm not sure you're going to get a huge draw from many other fan bases. Heck, even Florida fans might not be interested in the spending the money to see them play Lehigh or PVAMU. Clemon & Bama might bring some, but the Pittsburgh location a few years ago had Kentucky playing later that day and prices still plummeted. Be patient and keep an eye on ticket prices.

I winter in the Tampa area so getting to the game would be a breeze, but at $250-$700 for anything below the nosebleeds seems excessive. Think I’ll grab some steak and lobster and watch from my recliner. Does the school offer tickets?

Still feels surreal to me.... This year feels different.

When looking back at the Zips season, they had 5 losses and three of those losses were away losses to teams that made the NCAA tourney including Purdue, Miami, and Troy. The Yale loss was on a neutral court and one of the best games all season and that game went back and forth till the very end. Yale is in the NIT and lost out on an NCAA bid in overtime. The away loss to Murray State was our only bad loss of the season.

To be fair, that clip is showing a vertical-angle cell phone shot that cuts the defender out. Prior to this, while Shammah was dribbling the air out of the ball near half-court, the defender was on his butt. The defender not shown in this footage was actually at or a little beyond the 3P line. Shammah hit that stepback from Canal Park essentially which is exactly what Toledo wanted. Akron wasn't shooting the 3ball well all night, they kept the Zips out of the paint by design on the last possession and gave Shammah a contested stepback 3 from WAY downtown. He hit it and the rest is history. I don't think they'd ever change their game plan except for maybe try to force the ball out of Shammah's hands, although I don't know if they fully expected the ball to stay in Shammah's hands the entire possession.

It's lightweight. I can't find a tag so unfortunately can't tell you the material.

Can anyone please tell me what material the FTR Collective hoodie is and if it is lightweight or more of a normal/cold weather hoodie?

Remember when Bud Wentz said in an interview that Akron has nicer facilities than JMU a few years back when JMU was the hottest thing in college sports? He was referring to everything that matters to players - practice facility, locker room, rehab, etc. These guys spend 80% of their time in those areas and it's a very easy sell to players/recruits. In addition, they're connected with a life-long financial stability partner in Bud/Wentz Financial Group which is seemingly not something many programs are offering. This is the recipe for the successful culture we are reaping the benefits of as fans. Bud funds the attractions while Groce & his staff find the high character, high skill players that value said attractions. Whatever they do going forward I trust because they damn sure have earned that trust. With that being said, more comfortable seating would go a long way with the community haha.

Sonny Wilson was guarding him who did much more to contest the shot than Garvin Clarke did with Segu's missed 3 in 2022.
