  1. Past hour
  2. Did he not have a contract? How can he leave this late? I can't believe there was a buyout for a positions coach.
  3. The article states: "Reed comes to ODU after spending the 2024 season at Akron coaching the corners. Reed helped the Zips to their best season in seven years." That's really shining the old turd.
  4. Today
  5. This is really a shady thing for this coach and ODU to do. If an employee doesn't want to be around, don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.
  6. He also seems to be a bit of a nomad—hasn’t stuck around at one school for more than a year outside of his GA and playing days.
  7. Its what happens when you have the lowest budget in FBS.
  8. Not a great look getting our coaches poached by a G5 program that has had 1 winning season in their 10+ years being FBS.

  10. Where did he go?
  11. Yesterday
  12. Looks like we’re down a CBs coach less than a month away from kickoff. Not ideal.
  13. I see that Akron Women's Soccer played the earliest start perhaps in D1 with a trip to Michigan yesterday to take on the Oakland U. Grizzlies. There's no post-game report, not even a score. Can anyone remember last year -- did teams keep score or report exhibition results? Will this be the case for the men's exhibition games as well? 🤔
  14. Last week
  15. Welcome … ... Donning the Akron uniform this fall will be Ignacio Alem (Potomac, Md.), Abdi Bahur(Toronto, Ontario), Gavin Crane (Hinckley, Ohio), Braxton Hayes (Bowie, Md.), Logan LaMaina (Sellersville, Pa.), Farrel Ngongang(Montreal, Quebec), Matthew Paiva(Toronto, Ontario), Malte Schmaus(Hammersbach, Germany) and Dylan Wilkinson (Bradford, England). The nine players are part of Akron's 2025 signing class joining six members in Aljaz Dodig (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Freddy Kossehasse (McKinney, Texas), Tyler Morck (Bethpage, N.Y.), Jose Pedro (Porto, Portugal), Jamai Royer (Markham, Ontario) and Jack Sullivan (Potomac, Md.), that signed with the Zips prior to the spring semester. ...
  16. Happy as a 🐷 in 💩 🤣🤣
  17. Beto was the highest rated riverhound in the game...despite being clobbered by a Rhode Island vicious elbow during the game. https://pittsburghsoccernow.com/2025/08/03/takeaways-and-player-grades-riverhounds-forwards-awaken-with-quality-goals-to-turn-proper-heavyweight-bout-with-rhode-island-fc-into-decisive-win/ Jacquesson was on the end of an exquisite diagonal ball from Beto Ydrach. “It was a very good ball from Beto (Ydrach),” Jacquesson said. In a moment that was emblematic of physical nature of the match, Rhode Island’s JJ Williams was sent off in the 68th minute for delivering a vicious elbow, which floored Hounds’ defender Beto Ydrach right on the sideline by the bench. 16Beto Ydrach DF – 8.5 — brilliant assist but equally strong defensively throughout the night, especially in getting into good positions to thwart or limit RIFC’s counters
  18. I actually think the building is super cool and am excited to see it brought back to life. There is a lot of cool stuff in there.
  19. Imagine the money they have flushed down the toilet maintaining this albatross over the past couple of decades. I say good riddance. I've never understood why so many were so emotionally tied to this old factory.
  20. So in 2007 UA bought it for 22.6 million, and in 2025 sold it for 800k lol. I know it's in bad shape but that is pretty crazy.
  21. Hope you enjoyed. That is an excellent stadium with a beautiful view. I need to get over there and see a game with Beto.
  22. They're renovating and hoping to revitalize the site.
  23. https://www.instagram.com/p/DM8cKd0JBCh/?img_index=1 there are 10 really good photos on the Zips instagram page.... Photos were taken on media day my favorite photo is the 6th photo.....(which shows the tri-captains for this year's team) As NYC ZIP documented on July 15, there are 15 zips returning from last fall.....and 6 zips that joined the team in January 2025 The 10th photo is a team photo. I think that I count 30 zips in the photo. Hopefully, we will see a press release on Tuesday or Wednesday...that will tell us about the talented new additions to the team. As I have stated in the past, I believe that Jared and staff can begin coaching the team on Wednesday August 6. Go, Zips !!!! Looking forward.........to reading posts this Saturday night talking about Remi, Nate, Caleb and others scoring goals against the Bonnies 5 days away from Zips soccer....😁
  24. Nice story on Quincy Diggs' 3 on 3 career. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/pro/2025/08/01/quincy-diggs-3x3-basketball-akron-zips-2028-los-angeles-olympics/85448522007/?tbref=hp
  25. I'm unconcerned if someone was a back up player last year and a starter this year. We can't play against last year's team. Players can improve over the off season. If a starter goes down, there's a big problem to deal with at the G5 level and most of P5. Depth in college football is horrible and compound that with the lack of continuity because of the transfer portal, injuries kill. The question then becomes how does Akron exploit this bad hand WY has been dealt? Attack the backup players in the run game?... That's what they do in the NFL. Prepare for more WY run and pass blitz packages?....I would because backups can't get as much pressure as starters and blitzing helps support them. If a backup is a weak link, how do the Zips block him with one lineman while double teaming Wyoming's better players?....makes sense to me.
  26. They’re in a similar spot to us along the D-Line right now—either last year’s backups or new transfers will be stepping into starting roles. So, they’re still figuring out exactly what they’ve got. I agree that depth matters, but there’s also a chance the guys who went down weren’t going to be impactful contributors anyway. One was projected to start, but the last time he saw the field was 2023 and even then, it was in a backup role with fewer than 75 snaps all season. If I’m the head coach, I’m more concerned with the trend here—three achilles injuries? That’s not normal. One or two, sure, that happens. But three? I’d be taking a hard look at whatever the strength and conditioning staff is doing with these guys.
  27. Good information. Much needed news for the Zips who have a lot of questions to answer on the O line. This is not insignificant. Injuries are killers in football. Depth is important as players can't play every play. At G5 schools, it's hard to find really good starters and even more difficult to coach your way out of injuries. Coaches are only as good as their players.
