  3. Can we get an update? Why leave Bo and Stank on there but not Brisco?

  5. This level of futility has lasted nearly 50 years for NW Ohio MAC schools. This extends beyond both Todd's. There has to be something in the water as the other Ohio MAC schools are running circles around them. Edit: Perhaps Michigan was correct with their claim in the border war. Toledo performs like a Michigan school, not Ohio.
  6. Oh wow, I saw they lost but didn't know the situation. But still, 2 of 3 on the road is good!
  7. Doesn't really surprise me. Incoming freshmen are going to be more invested in the coach who recruited them than the school they haven't attended/played for yet. Does this mean we have 3 spots left?
  8. Maybe Todd changed his last name to Simone when he contacted him and recruited him in French. Todd always does well in the Portal but struggles to make it count on the court. Let's see if he can bring it all together this year. As opposing coaches go, I like Todd.
  9. He put up really good numbers for a sophomore at Saint Joe's, which is the most comparable league to the MAC he's played in. Even his season at Providence looks good on the surface given his rotation player role. I'm kind of surprised BG could afford him. I don't think he's P4 caliber given his struggle at South Carolina, but he could be all-conference at the mid-major level. I would have thought he'd land at an A10 or AAC type school.
  10. Josh Egner was 6'6" as well.
  11. Ladd follows Groce to Charleston.
  12. 7' 280 lbs. He could be a problem. St. Joseph's > Providence > South Carolina > Bowling Green. His production has regressed with every stop but going back to a mid major might revert that trend. Has a jump shot, too.
  13. Ladd is following Groce to CofC.
  14. Softball had a brutal loss at Massachusetts on Saturday. Up 4 to 1 with two outs in the 7th with the bases loaded and lost on a walk-off Grand slam. Tough loss but they still took two of three from Massachusetts and they still lead the MAC at 17 and 4.
  15. Akron Athletics just posted this news story https://gozips.com/news/2026/4/21/general-university-of-akron-athletics-holds-annual-day-of-giving I plan to donate directly to men's soccer. (direct link below) I just wanted to make everyone on this board aware of this important day. I believe that this is the link that will allow your donation to go 100% to men's soccer. https://fundraise.givesmart.com/vf/ATHDoG26/team/MSoccer

  16. Hey, it also got them a 1st round upset of Miami OH in Cleveland, and for that we thank them haha! Here's another factor - height is only useful if it's in the game. 6'10" Chabi Barre would've been useful at many points last season; for whatever reason, Groce didn't play him. If Pierce at 7' ultimately doesn't fit the system CofC ends up playing next season, he'll be an Akron Zip in 2027-28.
  17. Bettiol was probably the best back to the basket traditional big in the MAC last season. UMass paid him a good amount of money. All that got UMass was an 8th place finish in the MAC and 2nd round finish in MAC tournament. As you said, money is better spent elsewhere, especially since Ford has shown the ability of developing raw bigs.
  18. Bring on the Minutewomen. Zips don't back down!
  19. 7 footer who averaged 1/1 as a sophomore and probably getting paid high 6, low 7 figures. He would've been a good chunk of Akron's budget and likely not worth the $$$. Akron 3-peated in the MAC with nobody over 6'8"/6'9" - our money was well spent on legitimate production, not a measuring tape.
  20. A Gillespie replacement would cost $1M+. Of course they're not going to find that in the portal. Just like how we aren't going to add a proven Amani Lyles or Enrique Freeman. Those type of players you have to develop. I assume Williams will play PF for Kent, but he isn't as good as Gillespie. There are a few international players coming to the MAC that I struggle to project what they're impact will be so this statement could be off base. The only MAC team as of right now that I feel has added more than they lost is Ball State, who I still view as a middle of the pack team. Much of that is because they really stepped up their financial commitment as part of the deal with their new coach. Miami, Akron, Toledo (in addition to Kent) all have taken a step back, at least on paper. We'll see how the coming weeks play out. Dhani Miller from Kent looks like a baller. I expect him to make all-freshman team and wouldn't be surprised if he wins FOY.
  21. He had 20/3 vs. Kent. I don't quite understand his game because he isn't a lights out 3P shooter but doesn't get too many rebounds either.
  22. They have added 3 portal bigs so far (lost 2 grad bigs, 2 portal bigs) but none seem like a swap for Gillespie. Williams maybe swaps Whaley ... maybe. But one from EMU looks like just a rim protector and the other looks like a serious project. Both Kent starting guards portaled (both to losing programs) and SF (Safford) graduated, so they still got a ton of work left to do. In fact, all Kent's new signees are coming from losing programs so that lockerroom should be interesting.
  23. Hopefully Akron can help him develop to achieve his potential. Read the comments on this. A lot of believers in the kid.
  24. last time there was a big guy position battle there was a broken jaw and criminal charges involved.
  25. Hey that's a longer college highlight video than LeBron!
  26. Kent added Cam Williams from Portland. It looks like a fairly solid add.
