  2. https://unitedsoccercoaches.org/rankings/college-rankings/ncaa-di-men/ The United Soccer Coaches have released their most current vote....and they say that the number 16 ranked Zips will host the number 10 ranked Moutaineers this FRiday night. Are the coaches correct? Will both of these 2 teams be receiving a top 16 bye when the NCAA tournament begins in November?
  3. Today
  4. Through the Zips first two games, they have scored 4 goals. All four have been scored by subs! Three of the 6 assists registered have been awarded to subs! Might Akron score more if the subs play more? Realize the sample size is small, even tiny, but it appears that one of Akron's assets this season is depth- as others on this board have mentioned. Might the team max that possible advantage by running the other team down, being ultra aggressive, and using waves of fresh legs?
  5. Glad to see the women squeezing out wins. Sometimes it won’t be pretty but the fall season has been a good start for athletics

  7. Wyoming has played a number of MAC teams over the past 20 years. The games have mostly been competitive and a few real nail biters. Personally I will have been to three Wyoming vs MAC teams when we get to Akron. I went to Wyoming at Ohio, Wyoming at Toledo, and now at Akron.
  8. I can't believe I have to continue to bore myself with this but here we are. The wealth of a society has to do with income gained from production and that income turning into purchasing of goods and services. There is no GDP if people aren't earning and spending money. The more money someone makes, the more they can buy. The more money someone makes, the less time they have to work in order to buy the things they need. Prosperous societies make and spend more than others. Prosperous societies also have workforce efficiencies that allow those who have bought all they want to relax, or it gives more time for those who want to make more to do that. https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/data-reveal-that-the-average-working-american-is-better-off-today-than-in-the-1950s-and-wage-stagnation-is-a-myth/ Today is the greatest day in American history. Tomorrow will be better today.

  10. I hate that they don't list "others receiving votes" or anything like that. Makes it hard to tell if you're getting close. 😆 Also, I don't have the link but I saw Akron was up to 26th (first in "others receiving votes" section) in the College Soccer News poll today.
  11. Did she trip over a green dildo?
  12. Thank you for your analysis comrade. Do you really think that someone making $200k is wealthy? Lol
  13. The first thought that popped in my mind was, I wonder if she has injury insurance that covers the loss of business revenue.
  14. Shes currently on the injured list after falling at a WNBA game earlier in the summer...Red Panda! She's awesome!
  15. The lady who kicks bowls onto her head while riding a unicycle is always popular. An act for all seasons. Bring her in for a game.
  16. Asking around, here is the general consensus of the Zips status as we roll into Game #1 - The Zips will be "alright" this year. The offense should be in the top 1/3 of the MAC. This should be the best Zips OL in Joe's tenure. There are 7 or 8 guys playing really well right now. Last season there might have been 3 or 4. Finley is a top 3 MAC QB. His accuracy has improved. He's bulked up a bit. He's a team captain. Gant and Gee are dinged up. Redshirt Freshman Sean Patrick is a quick kid with good running instincts and will see a lot of PT on Thursday. The WR group is thought to be better and deeper than last year, even with the loss of Norton. Mason may turn out to be the best of the bunch. Marcel Williams (Marshall) has fit in very well. Alex Adams, Polk, Walker, Monteiro (Pitt) and Grear (Fresno State) will all see appreciable PT. If fully healthy, Grear could be a big addition. Ruggow has also been dinged up. He'll be the 2nd or 3rd QB depending upon the situation. Johnson has good legs and size, and a little better arm than the now-departed Bullock. He'll probably be slotted for a similar role as Tahj this season. Cibastion Broughton could show up anywhere, at any time. Ronald Hull stands out as the most capable DL. There are a slew of other big bodies that really haven't distinguished themselves. They'll rotate until there's some separation. LB is a similar situation. We have a lot of bodies, but no one is really standing out. PT is there for the taking to whomever shows well. Markus Boswell could turn out to be a surprise impact player as the season progresses. The secondary is the strength of the defense. White, Reed (Kentucky), Anderson (Washington State), Branch (Sr. and former Kent team captain) all had excellent camps. Not sure who will be the kicker on Thursday. It's a positional battle that remains up for grabs. The Zips were able to get their training table returned, but at the expense of some recruiting tools. Our budget is what it is... Wyoming has won 5 of their last 6 games against MAC opponents for a reason. They've played in a slightly better conference and had slightly better players. Deeper budgets, bigger staff, etc. On paper they should beat the Zips. Are they a little jet lagged from the long trip from Laramie? Are they overconfident in facing a Zips team that's been a regular in the Bottom 10 for seemingly forever? Or, can Finley light it up...the Zips secondary generate a few turnovers...and the Zips start the season 1-0? Gimme a 41-40 Zips victory. Finley gets the Gatorade bath. Can we get a Wallenda to tightrope from high above the Infocision faithful at halftime?
  17. West Virginia with a 4-0 win over LaSalle Maryland went on the road and got a 1-0 win at number 25 Georgetown The New Haven Chargers (this is their first year in Division 1) defeated Providence 1-0 Reminder- Georgetown and Providence were predicted to finish 1-2 in the Big East- Eastern division
  18. I'll be brutally honest. This is really, really, REALLY basic stuff that (judging by your age) you have absolutely no excuse not to understand. How are you an Akron grad and not know this? Marginal Rates aren't a universal rate. Their brackets. So while the Marginal rate might be 91%, ZERO people pay that as a total of their income: (just an overly simplistic example): 1-20,000 = 5% 20,001-40,000 = 10% 40,001-100,000 = 20% 100,001-150,000 = 60% 150,001-200,000 =91% Someone making $200,000 when the marginal rate is 91%, isn't taking home $18,000. They're taking home $126,500. Just because the marginal rate is 91%, doesn't mean it's your effective rate. Only money over that margin is taxed at that amount. And yes, yes it is a fact that the marginal rate was 91% from 1951-1963; and era of unmatched economic prosperity in the USA, where we expanded the middle-class to the largest middle-class in human history. You have no excuse to be at your age and not understand this. And I'm sorry, you cannot argue that the wealthy in the 1950s were just hiding their money in more creative ways. No, there wasn't as concentration of wealthy in that wealthy class as there is today. It's just a fact. Our country was most prosperous when it had higher marginal taxrates to prevent the concentration of wealthy. It is a fact.

  22. I see they are doing a kind of fan fest event with food trucks, etc. I hope they get a big paying turnout so I don't have to come on here and say they should have given away 15,000 free tickets.
  23. If the students are high quality, I'm all for it. Steady, sustained growth. I knew a guy who owned a business and always said, "You can just as easily die of indigestion as you can of starvation.".
  24. Could enrollment be trending up? The U’s website shows just under 14k for spring 25 semester. Just read a post on LinkedIn from the university’s official account that we have over 15k enrolled. Great to see assuming those numbers are final..
  25. What a great day at First Energy Stadium! First trip back North in a while, and we timed it so we could see the women/men double-header. Not sure why the two matches couldn't have been scheduled closer so more people might have come early to watch the women, but at least gave us time to hit our Fave Swenson's - and WOW! Who knew? There's a Swensons now by the funeral home on Exchange!! Anyway, a pretty sizeable crowd for the women's game, and we got to meet some of the players at the autograph session afterwards. A nice bunch of women, and so many are YOUNG! lots of freshmen and sophs. As for the match itself, pretty good action! Adison Hall, a freshman scored first on a very solid goal. The second goal was a PK, and it was warranted, by another freshman Fineen Creegan, and she didn't mess around. Emma King's goal was a slow roller past a charging GK out of position, but it was still a heads up play by King. The defense was a little porous, but the women didn't quit or hang their heads when the opponent scored. Nice tempo, nice pace, some spacing needs to be addressed, and a little worried about the GK position, but a win is a win and Coach Kuhns was into it the entire match. I'm sure she knows she's being judged, but I found her approach and management refreshing. I'll leave the men's game analysis to the others to discuss.
  26. Wow, there you have it! A fluff piece about Joe’s favorite movies and music is the extent of media coverage that we are getting going into the season - riveting! 🫠
