We shot 50% from 3 and the Kent fans went home early tonight. We were up by 25 and Groce slowed it down the last five minutes and we scored only five in the last 5 minutes. I heard him in post game where he was upset that we did not play well in the last 5 minutes. But this team is just not built to take the air out of the ball and have Tavari dribble the ball till the shot clock is down to 8. Slowing the ball down is the right thing to do but it also means we score 5 points at the end of the game.

How come Miami gets to finish against Ohio but we didn't get to finish against Kent?
-
They would have to lose both and we would have to win both in order for it to matter for seeding
-
Miami point guard may have broken his wrist tonight. Will undergo testing tomorrow per MACtion Maniacs X account

The World of College Basketball
kreed5120 replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I don't think anyone here was really arguing that a new arena wasn't needed. More that it could be completed at a fraction of the $280 million proposed cost. -
At that time, basketball had an exclusive deal because of Dambrot. That ship sailed.
-
He may be the Flushes career leader in losses to the Zips!
-
It was going to cost them over $100M to renovate Millett

I felt Amani finished the game strong after being non-existent offensively for the first 30 and having a few early miscues. If you told me before the game that he would match Gillespie in rebounds and only score 2 fewer points I would have taken it. I know he had some help defensively, but he was still the primary defender on Gillespie and holding him to 3/15 from the field and not getting bullied by one of the nations best rebounders makes this one of his best performances defensively this season IMO.
-
And finished 13-15. That's crazy. Zips finished at 50% overall.
-
Gillespie is the only player on Kent's roster to have also been on their roster the last time they beat the zips.
-
-
I have to suspect Tavari has the Zips record for wins over PCCC, especially for games in which he played.
-
Amani's offense was rough tonight but he and Evan did a number on Gillespie.
-
Tonight Amani was non-existent. Cleveland is very simple. If Amani comes to play we win going away. Cut out the stupid passes, TO's, stupid fouls and defend the paint for rebounds and put backs and we are golden.
-
Yep much more like a Banana Republic game for him. π
-
The only problem with the win is this will probably push Kent down in net and not let us make this a Q2. Who cares at this point tho
-
Out of reactions but this is fantastic haha. His pronouns are almost certainly We/Suck. Their drought vs Akron will do that. Steele's reactions in their game tonight showed me they're feeling the pressure of having to be perfect knowing Akron likely awaits them in Cleveland. Haven't lost to them since March 2023. This would be 3 straight years of sweeps.

In your head, in your heeaad... πΌπ΅πΆ

We did see him for a couple of minutes, no more. i do not understand why Groce doesn't get him minutes whenever he can. He will be needed this season and next. There were plenty of minutes available in the second half, especially after we were up by 20 and Armani was having a bad game by his standards. Let Chabi get some experience.
-
Yep, finally stepped on a neck (and there's no better neck to step on).
-
No one in this conference scares me outside of Miami and if we play how we did tonight we beat them by double digits as well
-
Death taxes and Groce's team peaking in March
-
Kent sucks

It would be but a rival game is a rival game. But I agree, Zips are hitting a stride
