Yes, ... absolutely a joke. But this time last season much the same was said about Akron ... and while pi$$ poor, Kent's schedule is still lightyears ahead of Miami. It's the cross good midmajor teams have to bear. MAC has benefitted from the Sun Belt Challenge. I would suggest adding another 'challenge' with C-USA or MVC. Good teams in all four conferences are struggling to get even quality mid-major games.
-
Just for background ... my understanding is Kent and CSU got screwed in this as both were 'told' they would be playing ACC teams, but the ACC teams said they would back out of the tournament unless they were in an all P5 bracket. Look at the records for some of those teams and you can see why they wanted no part of decent mid-majors on a neutral court. Note: CSU and Kent already had a game scheduled (this Sat) so neither were pleased but could not back out due to $$$ penalty.

Just for the old-timers, here is the latest RPI (yes it's still around). Notice more (6) MAC teams in the Top 140, but also 3 MAC teams 297 or lower. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncb/rpi/ 1. AGREED! Let's GO ZIPS!!!
-
Excellent news! From what I've seen, this group has excellent composure, toughness, and leadership, all of which are very necessary for any kind of deep run. Let's hope they get a dose of good fortune as well. Looking forward to Sunday.
-
YES! Let us not forget that either.
-
Overall very good numbers
-
I cannot forget it either, but give credit where it is due. Horrible referee PK call against Mitch Budler who did nothing but what a GK is supposed to do. Match deteriorated from there.
-
Both teams will draw a big crowd. Especially Michigan

That was one of those classic wait inside the Union at halftime kind of games -
I also remember it being as cold as the Hubs of Hades. Like 33* and windy.

I was thinking the same thing regarding a potential Bryant/Indiana matchup. -
Kind of mean that in the original post NIU was deemed to be so embarrassing they wouldn't even write their name.
-
And a guaranteed big name opponent.
-
I cannot forget it.

Can't believe that the Big East got five teams into the tournament. Not so sure St John's is deserving but still good for the conference. And I love the setup for Akron in their bracket. Don't think they should be scared about playing anyone, I also think that Indiana is overrated and Bryant is underrated and I don't think Indiana makes the regional final which would have been sweet for a little revenge. Of course that's assuming that Akron also gets there. -

Given the time in the school schedule, time of day, and weather forecast. There is no reason for there not to be a big student crowd. Students shouldn’t be going home this weekend with Thanksgiving break at the back end of the week. A team ranked #14 you think should be exciting enough for some rowdies to show up. Hopefully they do -

And they did get seeded higher but only by one position. And they're on the opposite side of the bracket from us. I like that too. 😂 -

We are the 14th seed which is actually the highest seed Akron has been in 8 years. Only been seeded once in that time it was 2022 against Pitt as the 16 seed. Which was a total embarrassment of a match if you recall
