  1. Past hour
  2. Jason Shokalook with his first MLS assist. 👏👏 👏
  3. Today
  4. That could be a good thing for us since a lot of gamers like to see how far they can take an underdog team.
  5. EA Sports paying schools based off of how frequently the team gets played in the game. https://www.si.com/college-football/ea-sports-pay-schools-based-game-usage-college-football-26

  7. https://www.chicagofirefc.com/news/lineup-notes-chicago-fire-fc-at-d-c-united-x6606 Available off the bench are goalkeeper Bryan Dowd; defenders Leonardo Barroso, Sam Rogers and Chase Gasper; midfielders Brian Gutiérrez, Sam Williams and Vitaliy Hlyut; and forward Jason Shokalook. https://www.chicagofirefc.com/news/chicago-fire-fc-signs-vitaliy-hlyut-and-jason-shokalook-to-short-term-agreements
  8. Schools paying players is exactly the wrong direction. They should be allowed to have jobs and earn a living outside of the universities. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2025/06/07/ncaa-revenue-sharing-settlement-questions/83221673007/
  9. I think the schedule is done. Traditionally, Jared has steered the ship. The official announcements vary by school, but Akron generally announces first week of July.
  10. are we running behind on finishing our 2025 schedule because of the AD switch?
  11. Not necessarily NIL, but scholarship money available. All schools are now allowed, but not required, to have all men’s players on the roster receive full scholarships up to 28. Prior to this change, mens soccer teams were limited to the equivalent of 9.5 to divide across the players. I’m sure the Zips gained very little, if any $$ to allocate to men’s soccer. On the other hand, I’m confident schools like OSU did and can leverage a “full ride” deal for transfer players from schools that aren’t opted in. Even an increase to 15 scholarships could be a massive difference to the construction of a roster.
  12. I can't help but think there may be some NIL money in play here. Does anyone know the behind the scenes story?
  13. Last week
  14. Most NCAA Division 1 soccer teams will start their regular season on Thursday night August 21. I am sure that the zips will play 2 or 3 exhibition games Detroit Mercy has announced their full schedule and they will play an exhibition game at Akron on Friday August 15. https://detroittitans.com/sports/mens-soccer/schedule/2025 announced exhibition games: Friday, August 15: vs. Detroit Mercy Titans REgular season announced games: Friday, September 5: @ Ohio State Tuesday, September 9: vs. Western Michigan Friday, September 19: vs. Connecticut * Tuesday, September 23: vs. St Louis Saturday, September 27: @ Butler* Friday, October 3: vs. St John’s* Tuesday, October 7: @ Cornell Friday, October 17 : at Seton Hall* Saturday, October 25: at Xavier* Saturday, November 1: vs. Marquette*
  15. William Arnesen who spent the spring with the Zips after transferring from Old Dominion, has transferred to Ohio State. https://www.instagram.com/p/DKkKo_0Mjby/?igsh=MTVjOTZ5cG05MXp4cA==
  16. It's challenging in the men's game as well. Guards and wings have always been easier to come by as they're more plentiful.
  17. ESPN article about possible visa difficulties for international players given new immigration policies. This could impact the Zips somewhat, but could crush teams like Marshall, West Virginia, Pitt, Seton Hall, Vermont, and many others that have heavy non US rosters.

  18. Having the bodies alone should be enough to get us over the hump in some of those close games we didn’t have the depth to pull out last season. Let’s hope the squad has a solid summer to gel as we go into year 3 of the Gensler era. Feel like this will be a very telling season on the direction of the program.
  19. Not academically eligible sounds more like our football team's recruiting strategy.
  20. Only one big was signed during this announcement and the earlier one. Is that enough with who we have returning? I think in the women's game it is difficult to recruit good bigs, which we need.
  21. They'll enjoy not having to spend money on a bowl that their probably 2-10 team wouldn't get to anyways.
  22. Coach Gensler has completed his reload of the roster. Hopefully there will be no repeat of last years injury riddled season. https://gozips.com/news/2025/6/4/akron-womens-basketball-adds-four-to-2025-signing-class?fbclid=IwY2xjawKuXQFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu-k_dsHV4L_xANyfB7Iqwcg_66u5VVDwi_xESJeDzgRkg1NSCHZvaO54VSv_aem_6ElaCRWeYYOno7TtI7f9Bw
  23. All teed up for Groce. Let's see if he whiffs again.
  24. Depends ... Zips might send a guy to prep school and resign him in October. Miami and a few other programs have done this recently to get a kid late. (Miami kid just spent a year at Spire. Got bigger and stronger, too.)
  25. We don't have any scholarships available, do we?
  26. Haven’t heard anything. But this could be a Nate replacement… long shot, but reel him in!!
  27. Miami's Dequan Finn đź‘€
